Kasha and Dwayne Smith Vow renewal 5.26.24
As a minister of Jesus Christ I warmly welcome you here today. We are gathered here in God’s presence to witness the marriage vow renewal of Kasha and Dwayne Smith
A wedding is a special occasion - when a man and woman publicly proclaim their love - and declare their commitment to each other - as we gather today in the sight of God and the presence of this company to join THIS MAN and THIS WOMAN we do so with a Godly example.
LET US PRAY...
What you are doing here today is a picture of the love of God.
Marriage is God’s idea
He saw that it was not good for man to be alone… So he caused a deep sleep to come upon Adam and God removed a rib from him and created the woman eve.
To Jesus marriage between a man and a woman is a very special occasion;
- His first miracle was at a wedding…
- Christ compares his church to a bride that he is coming to receive to himself one day.
Ephesians 5 teaches about how marriage works God’s way…
-To the wife; treat your husband with respect above all else.
-To the husband: “love your wife as Christ loves the church.”
-The Bible says to both... Submit to one another out of reverence for Christ.
1 Marriage is a life-time commitment.
Nothing is easier than saying words & making promises, & nothing is harder than living them day-by-day. What you promise today must be lived tomorrow, & all the tomorrows that follow thereafter.
2 Marriage is a process.
Do not expect perfection from each other; do not minimize each otherʼs weaknesses, but always be swift to praise & magnify each otherʼs strengths & see each other through kind & patient eyes.
3 Marriage is a sacred covenant
Like the triangle! Christian marriage is not a relationship between 2 but 3… Alan, Olivia, and God! The closer you get to the Lord the closer you get to each other.
Christian marriage is not living merely for each other; it is two people uniting hearts & hands to serve God.
VOWS…
As an expression that your hearts are bound together in love, could you hold each otherʼs hands.
Kasha , the one whose hands you hold is to be your husband. Upon your life, your love, & your devotion he will lean for strength & inspiration. He will look to you for encouragement, for cheerfulness, & for confidence.
Kasha, do you vow here, that you will be loyal in adversity, ministering to him in affliction, comforting him in sorrow, & forsaking all others, keep yourself only unto him so long as you both shall live?
Kasha: “I do.”
Dwane, these are the hands of the one who has just promised to love & cherish you all the days of her life.
Dwane, do you vow here, that you will love Kasha, be true & loyal to her, patient in sickness, comforting in sorrow, & forsaking all others, keep yourself only unto her so long as you both shall live?
Case: “I do.”
RINGS
Now Dwane, would you take the ring that you will present to Riley as a token of the sincerity of his vows, and hold it in your hand.
Now please place it on the ring finger of Riley’s left hand & repeat after me:
”I take you, Kasha - to be my wife - before God who brought us together - to have & to hold - from this day forward - for better or for worse - for richer or for poorer - in sickness & in health - to love & to cherish. – And with all that I am - I commit myself to you - as long as we both shall live. -
In Jesusʼ Name”
Now Kasha, will you take the ring that you will present to Stephen as a token of the sincerity of your vows and hold it in your hand.
Now please place it on the third finger of Dwane’s left hand & repeat after me:
”I take you, Dwane - to be my husband - before God who brought us together - to have & to hold - from this day forward - for better or for worse - for richer or for poorer - in sickness & in health - to love & to cherish. – And with all that I am - I commit myself to you - AS LONG AS WE BOTH SHALL LIVE - In Jesusʼ Name”
— Prayer—
