What I hope the Students hear: You have the opotunity to connect with the God who loves you everyday
James 4:8 John 15:1-7
James 4:8 (ESV)
Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded.
John 15:1–7 (ESV)
“I am the true vine, and my Father is the vinedresser. Every branch in me that does not bear fruit he takes away, and every branch that does bear fruit he prunes, that it may bear more fruit. Already you are clean because of the word that I have spoken to you. Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in me. I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing. If anyone does not abide in me he is thrown away like a branch and withers; and the branches are gathered, thrown into the fire, and burned. If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you.

Exegeting the text
John 15:1–7 (ESV)
“I am the true vine, and my Father is the vinedresser. 2Every branch in me that does not bear fruit he takes away, and every branch that does bear fruit he prunes, that it may bear more fruit. 3Already you are clean because of the word that I have spoken to you. 4Abide in me, and I in you.
Here is the “Why” we Abide or Connect with God

If you want to grow with God do this: SPEND TIME WITH HIM. do it when you don’t wanna or you do.
You have to talk to someone to get to know them better!!!

Plant Visual
Growth comes through struggles, dependence and rest
Rest is essential to it all. Because you can rest in the prescne of God admist the storm or sunshine.
Our why comes down to
Reality
for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,
Rescue
For Christ also suffered once for sins, the righteous for the unrighteous, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh but made alive in the spirit,
Our Response is
Repent therefore, and turn back, that your sins may be blotted out,
because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved.
Begin to wrap up
Connecting and abiding with God is...
An everyday opportunity to be honest and intentional with God
Love encompasses all
As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Abide in my love.
Closing statement: “We must order our everyday lives around one thing and it is intimacy with God”
