How do we respond to Injustice?
How do we respond to Injustice?
We are in the middle of a short series on the life of King David
If you are reading through the bible with us on Bible Recap, we finished reading about King’s David a few days ago and now we are reading on the life of King Solomon.
David showed us how he responded to Injustice, have you ever suffered injustice? The lack of fairness or justice by someone you were following or someone you had great respect and admiration for but all the sudden they turned on you ? How do you respond?
Let’s pray
1 With Forgiveness
1 With Forgiveness
instead of retaliation
1Sa 18:6 When the men were returning home after David had killed the Philistine, the women came out from all the towns of Israel to meet King Saul with singing and dancing, with joyful songs and with timbrels and lyres.
1Sa 18:7 As they danced, they sang: "Saul has slain his thousands, and David his tens of thousands."
The song became a major hit, later on we find out that even David’s enemies in the nearby countries knew the song.
That really bother King Saul,
1Sa 18:8 Saul was very angry; this refrain displeased him greatly. "They have credited David with tens of thousands," he thought, "but me with only thousands. What more can he get but the kingdom?"
1Sa 18:9 And from that time on Saul kept a close eye on David.
1Sa 18:10 The next day an evil spirit from God came forcefully on Saul. He was prophesying in his house, while David was playing the lyre, as he usually did. Saul had a spear in his hand
1Sa 18:11 and he hurled it, saying to himself, "I'll pin David to the wall." But David eluded him twice.
1Sa 18:12 Saul was afraid of David, because the LORD was with David but had departed from Saul.
1Sa 18:13 So he sent David away from him and gave him command over a thousand men, and David led the troops in their campaigns.
1Sa 18:14 In everything he did he had great success, because the LORD was with him.
1Sa 18:15 When Saul saw how successful he was, he was afraid of him.
1Sa 18:16 But all Israel and Judah loved David, because he led them in their campaigns.
Your success will provoke jealousy in the hearts of people who are not obeying God, they will not only become angry, but in their hearts, they will hold bitterness and even murderer, they want what you have. They want to take you out. They may throw a spear or two at you or they may insult you whenever they can or trash your name everywhere they go.
How do you respond to someone like that?
If you are that person filled with Jealousy, You don’t need to raise your hand, repent, we have a good Father, He will give you the opportunity to walk with Him.
If you are on the other end receiving their anger and abuse forgive, our God is for you.
Vengeance is the Lords,
Rom 12:17 Do not repay anyone evil for evil. Be careful to do what is right in the eyes of everyone.
Rom 12:18 If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone.
Rom 12:19 Do not take revenge, my dear friends, but leave room for God's wrath, for it is written: "It is mine to avenge; I will repay," says the Lord.
David after Killing Goliath, had the respect of the entire army, including Saul, he became one of his armor-bearer, David had Jonathan as a friend immediately after, Jonathan being older recognized the anointing of God over David and he loved him as himself. David end up marrying Michal (mee-haal) the daughter of Saul who loved him, Jonathan’s sister, now he was Saul’s son in law, but Saul’s heart was filled with jealousy, he wanted to kill David.
Bless and don’t curse, I’m not talking about living in a abusive situation, David had to run away from Saul, or he would end up dead, forgiveness is not accepting a crazy person or someone demonized.
Living under a person who is influenced by a demonic spirit who abuses you is not forgiveness, it will always end up in tragedy.
Little ones will need our help, to be freed, some of you know more about that than others, thank you for your great love and sacrifice.
forgiveness is to let go of the offense, and receive God’s healing, the restoration of a relationship that became abusive, needs other steps including the sanity of the offender, what may not happen in this lifetime.
Recognize the anointing of the Lord even on those who persecute you.

1Sa 24:1 After Saul returned from pursuing the Philistines, he was told, "David is in the Desert of En Gedi."
En Gedi is an Oasis that’s why David and his men hangout there.
1Sa 24:2 So Saul took three thousand able young men from all Israel and set out to look for David and his men near the Crags of the Wild Goats.
There were 5 soldiers for every one of David’s men, David’s army was of 600 men.
1Sa 24:3 He came to the sheep pens along the way; a cave was there, and Saul went in to relieve himself. David and his men were far back in the cave.
This was A personal private moment, no one followed Saul he was by himself, with David’s 600 men.
1Sa 24:4 The men said, "This is the day the LORD spoke of when he said to you, 'I will give your enemy into your hands for you to deal with as you wish.'" Then David crept up unnoticed and cut off a corner of Saul's robe.
1Sa 24:5 Afterward, David was conscience-stricken for having cut off a corner of his robe.
1Sa 24:6 He said to his men, "The LORD forbid that I should do such a thing to my master, the LORD's anointed, or lay my hand on him; for he is the anointed of the LORD."
1Sa 24:7 With these words David sharply rebuked his men and did not allow them to attack Saul. And Saul left the cave and went his way.
During the days of Moses something similar took place
We need to Keep our hearts free from comparison or assumptions.
Num 12:1 Miriam and Aaron began to talk against Moses because of his Cushite wife, for he had married a Cushite.
A dark skin woman.
Zipporah was his first wife a Midianite.
They were talking about their younger brother a friend of God.
Num 12:2 "Has the LORD spoken only through Moses?" they asked. "Hasn't he also spoken through us?" And the LORD heard this.
Num 12:3 (Now Moses was a very humble man, more humble than anyone else on the face of the earth.)
Num 12:4 At once the LORD said to Moses, Aaron and Miriam, "Come out to the tent of meeting, all three of you." So the three of them went out.
Num 12:5 Then the LORD came down in a pillar of cloud; he stood at the entrance to the tent and summoned Aaron and Miriam. When the two of them stepped forward,
Num 12:6 he said, "Listen to my words: "When there is a prophet among you, I, the LORD, reveal myself to them in visions, I speak to them in dreams.
Num 12:7 But this is not true of my servant Moses; he is faithful in all my house.
Num 12:8 With him I speak face to face, clearly and not in riddles; he sees the form of the LORD. Why then were you not afraid to speak against my servant Moses?"
Num 12:9 The anger of the LORD burned against them, and he left them.
Num 12:10 When the cloud lifted from above the tent, Miriam's skin was leprous—it became as white as snow. Aaron turned toward her and saw that she had a defiling skin disease,
Num 12:11 and he said to Moses, "Please, my lord, I ask you not to hold against us the sin we have so foolishly committed.
Num 12:12 Do not let her be like a stillborn infant coming from its mother's womb with its flesh half eaten away."
Num 12:13 So Moses cried out to the LORD, "Please, God, heal her!"
Num 12:14 The LORD replied to Moses, "If her father had spit in her face, would she not have been in disgrace for seven days? Confine her outside the camp for seven days; after that she can be brought back."
Num 12:15 So Miriam was confined outside the camp for seven days, and the people did not move on till she was brought back.
David understood this principal, don’t touch the Lord’s anointed, He may not like it.
3 Keep Your heart clean
3 Keep Your heart clean
Some people are more challenging to love than others, they keep messing up, they don’t go after you only one time they keep doing it they can’t help themselves.
Again David had the opportunity to vindicate himself. It took David 14 years to be come King from the day he was anointed, and most of these years he was running away from Saul.
Saul as we know was not a good man, God rejected him because he was selfish and disobedient, he had tried to kill David a number of times, Saul gave orders to kill the 85 priest and their families, women and children, because they helped David.
David had plenty reasons to take him out, he was an evil man.
Saul was after David again, David sent spies and found out where king Saul was encamped.
1Sa 26:6 David then asked Ahimelek the Hittite and Abishai son of Zeruiah, Joab's brother, "Who will go down into the camp with me to Saul?" "I'll go with you," said Abishai.
1Sa 26:7 So David and Abishai went to the army by night, and there was Saul, lying asleep inside the camp with his spear stuck in the ground near his head. Abner and the soldiers were lying around him.
1Sa 26:8 Abishai said to David, "Today God has delivered your enemy into your hands. Now let me pin him to the ground with one thrust of the spear; I won't strike him twice."
1Sa 26:9 But David said to Abishai, "Don't destroy him! Who can lay a hand on the LORD's anointed and be guiltless?
1Sa 26:10 As surely as the LORD lives," he said, "the LORD himself will strike him, or his time will come and he will die, or he will go into battle and perish.
1Sa 26:11 But the LORD forbid that I should lay a hand on the LORD's anointed. Now get the spear and water jug that are near his head, and let's go."
David from a distance called out to Saul and he recognized his voice, and he showed him his spear and water jug, The Lord had come over their camp and they all fell into this deep sleep, Abishai could probably kill Saul , and all his personal guards.
David speared him again, but that was the last time Saul came after him.
Patiently await for the deliverance of the Lord, the Lord will strike him or his time will come and he will die, or he will go into battle and perish.
Don’t aloud vengeance to poison your heart, keep your heart clean, God will reward you.
How do you respond to Injustice?
Place in the hands of the Lord
Forgive, let it go
Don’t touch God’s anointed
Keep your heart clean, honor God
God will defeat our enemies, those who persecute us for no reason, when we make Jesus the Lord of our lives.
"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. Joh 3:16
To receive Jesus we need to accept Him as God’s son, repent from our sins and a life of selfishness, and we need to ask Him to be our Lord and savior, not that we deserve it, but is a gift from God.
If this is your desire today, please repeat this prayer after me?
Heavenly Father I’m sinner,
I’m sorry for my sins,
I’m willing to turn away from my sins.
I receive Christ as my savior,
I confess him as Lord
from this moment on
I want to follow and serve him,
in the fellowship of his church,
In Jesus name. Amen!
1Co 11:23 For I received from the Lord that which I also delivered to you: that the Lord Jesus on the same night in which He was betrayed took bread;
1Co 11:24 and when He had given thanks, He broke itand said, "Take, eat; this is My body which is broken for you; do this in remembrance of Me."
1Co 11:25 In the same manner He also took the cup after supper, saying, "This cup is the new covenant in My blood. This do, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me."
1Co 11:26 For as often as you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord's death till He comes.
1Co 11:27 Therefore whoever eats this bread or drinks thiscup of the Lord in an unworthy manner will be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord.
Heb 9:14 dead works, acts, sins
