This Week’s Theme: Guided by God’s Commands
Word for the Week is Commandments: God’s demands made of His people or obligations laid on His people to fulfill.
Memory verse: John 14:15 (NKJV) “If you love Me, keep My commandments.
Sermon Passage: Proverbs 6:20-24
Proverbs 6:20–24 NKJV
My son, keep your father’s command, And do not forsake the law of your mother. Bind them continually upon your heart; Tie them around your neck. When you roam, they will lead you; When you sleep, they will keep you; And when you awake, they will speak with you. For the commandment is a lamp, And the law a light; Reproofs of instruction are the way of life, To keep you from the evil woman, From the flattering tongue of a seductress.
I boldly address you today as one

I. A PROTECTED PERSON

YES I HAVE BEEN LIED ON, TALKED ABOUT, MISTREATED, AND MISUNDERSTOOD
YET I AM STILL HERE
BECAUSE I KNOW THAT ALL THINGS WORK TOGETHER FOR THE GOOD
TO THOSE WHO LOVE THE LORD
TO THOSE WHO ARE THE CALLED ACCORDING TO HIS PURPOSES
YES I HAVE BEEN HARD PRESSED ON EVERY SIDE BUT I HAVEN’T BEEN DISTRESSED
YES I HAVE BEEN PERSECUTED BUT NOT FORSAKEN
YES I HAVE BEEN KNOCKED DOWN BUT NOT KNOCKED OUT
BECAUSE NO WEAPON FORMED AGAINST ME SHALL BE ABLE TO PROSPER
YES I HAVE BEEN ATTACKED BY 3 DIFFERENT ENEMIES
1ST THE DEVIL
WHO COMES
TO KILL MY TESTIMONY
BY
WreckING MY Witness
MarrING MY Ministry
MisconstrUING MY Mission
TaintING MY Teachings
SpoilING MY Salvation
YES THE DEVIL COMES
TO KILL MY TESTIMONY
AND TO STEAL MY PEACE AND JOY
BY TRYING TO DISRUPT TO CAUSE ME TO HAVE
SAD SUNDAY,
MISERABLE MONDAY
TROUBLE FILLED TUESDAY
WOEFUL WEDNESDAY
TRAUMATIC THURSDAY
FAILED FRIDAY
STRESSFUL SATURDAY
BUT I KNOW TO FOCUS ON the Problem-solver NOT the problem
TO FOCUS ON Christ NOT the challenges
TO FOCUS ON the Master, NOT THE MESS OR MISFORTUNE
I KNOW THAT THE JOY OF THE LORD IS MY STRENGTHEN
YES THE DEVIL COMES
TO KILL MY TESTIMONY
AND TO STEAL MY PEACE AND JOY
AND TO DESTROY MY LIFE
BY TRYING TO CONVINCE ME
TO REJECT THE WORD RATHER THAN RECEIVE THE WORD
TO BLOCK THE WORD RATHER THAN BELIEVE THE WORD
TO FORSAKE THE WORD RATHER THAN FOLLOW THE WORD
TO CRITICIZE THE WORD RATHER THAN CONSIDER THE WORD
TO DENY THE WORD RATHER THAN DELIGHT IN THE WORD
2ND ENEMY IS THE WORLD
THE WORLD SEEKS TO DISTRACT ME TRYING TO GET ME TO
CONCENTRATE ON THE CARES OF THE WORLD
AND THE DECEITFULNESS OF RICHES
3RD ENEMY IS THE FLESH
LUST OF THE EYE, LUST OF THE FLESH, PRIDE OF LIFE
FLESH SAYS YOU DESERVE IT
SAYS YOU SHOULDN’T HAVE TO DO THAT
SAYS WHY CAN’T I MAKE MY OWN DECISIONS
SAYS I WANT COMFORT NOT CHALLENGES
PERSECUTION
Proverbs 6:24 NKJV
To keep you from the evil woman, From the flattering tongue of a seductress.

Psalm 1:1 “Blessed is the man Who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, Nor stands in the path of sinners, Nor sits in the seat of the scornful;”

CONTINUOUS PRAYING MOURN OVER SIN 4 Blessed [are] those who mourn, For they shall be comforted.
IN MYSELF IN OTHER SAINTS IN SOCIETY HUMBLE, MEEK OR MILD DISPOSITION 5 Blessed [are] the meek, For they shall inherit the earth.
PURSUE RIGHTEOUSNESS 6 Blessed [are] those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, For they shall be filled.
ACTIVE COMPASSION 7 Blessed [are] the merciful, For they shall obtain mercy. GENUINE HEART 8 Blessed [are] the pure in heart, For they shall see God.
PEACEMAKER 9 Blessed [are] the peacemakers, For they shall be called sons of God.
PERSECUTED FOR RIGHTEOUSNESS 10 Blessed [are ]those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake, For theirs is the kingdom of heaven. 11 “Blessed are you when they revile and persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely for My sake.
REJOICING DESPITE PERSECUTION 12 “Rejoice and be exceedingly glad, for great [is] your reward in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.

III. A PARENTED PERSON

Deuteronomy 6:4–9 NKJV
“Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one! You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength. “And these words which I command you today shall be in your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up. You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.
Proverbs 6:20 NKJV
My son, keep your father’s command, And do not forsake the law of your mother.
20 My son, keep (guard with fidelity: faithfulness and exactness, keep: to act fittingly or appropriately in relation to, observe: conform one’s actions or practice to) your father’s command, And do not forsake (abandon: to cease from maintaining, practicing, or using) the law (instructions) of your mother.

IV. A PERSUADED PERSON

Ephesians 6:1–4 NKJV
Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. “Honor your father and mother,” which is the first commandment with promise: “that it may be well with you and you may live long on the earth.” And you, fathers, do not provoke your children to wrath, but bring them up in the training and admonition of the Lord.
Proverbs 6:23 NKJV
For the commandment is a lamp, And the law a light; Reproofs of instruction are the way of life,
For the commandment (of code of wisdom) is (produces light like) a lamp, And the law (instructions) are a (guiding) light; Reproofs (rebuke or criticism for a fault) of instruction (correction or discipline) [are] the way of life,
Proverbs 6:20 NKJV
My son, keep your father’s command, And do not forsake the law of your mother.
THEREFORE
I PERSUADED TO

A. Conform Your Actions and Practice

B. Comply with Your Actions and Practice

C. Constantly checking Your Actions and Practice

The instructions will guide you
The instructions will comfort you
The instructions will
