This is the premise of the thought about our Mission and Vision.

Explain true vine context, this is the conclusion to that teaching.

Mission Statement
Explain what a Mission Statement is…
Why do we exist? / Primary Common Assignment
37 Then He said to His disciples, “The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few.
38 “Therefore beseech the Lord of the harvest to send out workers into His harvest.”
Explain Context:
35 Jesus was going through all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues and proclaiming the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every kind of disease and every kind of sickness.
36 Seeing the people, He felt compassion for them, because they were distressed and dispirited like sheep without a shepherd.
Jesus saw the people…
He didn’t just see their sickness or oppression, He SAW them…
He saw how distressed and dispirited they were… He saw that they weren’t living up to their potential…
He saw that they could be something more, but they had no one to lead them in that…
Then He says harvest is plentiful…
Immediately after He says this he summoned the 12 disciples and gave them authority over unclean spirits and to heal sickness, then sends them out to proclaim: The kingdom of heaven is at hand!
Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse the lepers, cast out demons.
So Jesus recognizes the need, then equips those who follow Him to be workers in the harvest..
This is the purpose of The Shed… Why we exist…
This is the shared mission that I believe the church has:
The Shed Exists to Develop Workers for the Harvest.
The Shed Exists to Develop Workers for the Harvest.
Not just recruit… We aren’t here to recycle saints.
Not just gather, evangelism is only half the job…
Not just send, we don’t want to flippantly put people in positions…
We exist to DEVELOP…
We have to equip and train, but more than that we have to develop workers through real discipleship…
Expand on discipleship

Vision Statement
Vision Statement
Specific to The Shed… Mission was shared, but this is our expression of it.
Even this vision will bear some similarities to any biblical church, but specific to our context
It is OUR version of the great commission found in these verses:
19 “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit,
20 teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”
8 but you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth.”
Our Vision is to Activate and Empower Followers of Jesus to Fulfill their God-given Mission.
Our Vision is to Activate and Empower Followers of Jesus to Fulfill their God-given Mission.
The first step is Activation…
We want to be a place of activation..
Activation looks like being inspired to move, but also being practically given responsibility and ownership of something unique to you where you can get a start toward your calling.
Everyone has a calling.
Sometimes the thing that you notice is connected to your calling.
Empowering speaks to the equipping of discipleship.
It would do no good to activate without empowerment.
The reason we are doing so much preparation toward discipleship is because discipleship is the equipping it takes to empower you to excellence.
This is not to take the place of the Holy Spirit’s empowerment, but to complement it.
We don’t use the Holy Spirit as an excuse to not do things with excellence or to not prepare or to not train.
My job is to help you find your unique mission, and it is the function of The Shed to Activate and Empower you to fulfill that mission.

This statement is a sticky statement that can be easily remembered and recited.
This is what we say:
We Grow Disciples in Here that Embody Jesus Out There.
We Grow Disciples in Here that Embody Jesus Out There.
