James chapter 2:14 is often a passage used to teach that faith must have works in order to be saving faith. Otherwise it is just "professing faith" and according to this view the person does not have eternal life.
This message shows that the real issue is between a faith that is active and one that is inactive. Both exist in the life of believers. However, one is pleasing to God and the other is not.
