Description of floor

Threshing Floor (גֹּרֶן, goren;). A level outdoor area used for threshing sheaves of grain. Threshing floors were often located on the top of a rock or on a hilltop. Sheaves were laid out and either beaten with a flail or threshed by oxen dragging a heavy object over them (Isa 28:27).

The grain and its mixture of straw and husks were thrown into the air. The kernels of wheat or barley would fall into a pile on the Threshing Floor; and the chaff, or refuse, would be blown away by the wind (Ps. 1:4).
