9 Jesus answered, Are there not twelve hours in the day? If any man walk in the day, he stumbleth not, because he seeth the light of this world. 10 But if a man walk in the night, he stumbleth, because there is no light in him.

The summer day in Israel

12 hours
The summer day in Alaska, around the clock. Sun doesn’t go down. Feels like day, even thought it is midnight.
Land of the midnight sun.
all the harvesting is done in the summer. Fishing, berries, hunting.
But winter comes, and it is the opposite.
Must work before winter.
Illustration: of ants working….
John 9:4 “I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work.”
there is an urgency in the voice of the Lord. I must work, only have so much time…The night is coming!!!
John 9:5 “As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.”
John 8:12 “Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.”
The Old Testament, was a time of spiritual darkness.
They were waiting for the saviour.
Waiting on the Messiah.
Isaiah 9:2 “The people that walked in darkness have seen a great light: They that dwell in the land of the shadow of death, upon them hath the light shined.”
Isaiah 60:1 Arise, shine; for thy light is come, And the glory of the Lord is risen upon thee.
Jesus is the Light of the world.
John 1:4 In him was life; and the life was the light of men.
John 3:19 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.
1 Pet 2:9 But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:
Jesus is the Light. We must be in the Light. In Him is mentioned 160 in the bible.

Will Not Stumble

In Him, we will not stumble.
Phil 4:13 I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.

But without Christ, we can do nothing

The man who worships without Christ and without the blood of the Lamb and without forgiveness and without cleansing is assuming too much. He is mistaking error for truth, and spiritual tragedy is the result.17
A. W. Tozer
When we are not in Christ, we stumble.
Ps 42:1 As the hart panteth after the water brooks, So panteth my soul after thee, O God.
2  My soul thirsteth for God, for the living God:
When shall I come and appear before God?
3  My tears have been my meat day and night,
While they continually say unto me, Where is thy God?
Spiritually dry. Needing that fresh drink of the river.
Wells in the dessert.
Well diggers.
12 And in that day thou shalt say,
O Lord, I will praise thee: though thou wast angry with me,
Thine anger is turned away, and thou comfortedst me.
2  Behold, God is my salvation;
I will trust, and not be afraid:
For the Lord JEHOVAH is my strength and my song;
He also is become my salvation.
3  Therefore with joy shall ye draw water out of the wells of salvation.

Refreshing

Acts 3:19 Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord;
Isa 28:12To whom he said, This is the rest wherewith ye may cause the weary to rest; And this is the refreshing: yet they would not hear.
Comes with a new tongue, and a stammering lip… Refreshing
Night Cometh
we are in a time of grace
you have hope, there is still time. If you are to approach God, you will not stumble. It is day.
there is time for your dreams
there is time for refreshing
the only reason there is hope on this planet, is because we still have the light. the presence of Jesus.
But once the Lord comes back for the church, and raptures us out of here, that’s it. Lights out. Darkness.
Once the Spirit of the Lord is gone, there will be complete hopelessness. No grace.
Darkness.
2 Th 2:6–7  And now ye know what withholdeth that he might be revealed in his time. 7 For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way.
Psalm 30:5 “For his anger endureth but a moment; in his favour is life: Weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning.”
Someone needs to know, that if you live for the Lord, you will not stumble!!
My Utmost for His Highest June 2nd—What are You Haunted By?

What are you haunted by?

What man is he that feareth the Lord? Psalm 25:12.

What are you haunted by? You will say—‘By nothing,’ but we are all haunted by something, generally by ourselves, or, if we are Christians, by our experience. The Psalmist says we are to be haunted by God. The abiding consciousness of the life is to be God, not thinking about Him. The whole of our life inside and out is to be absolutely haunted by the presence of God. A child’s consciousness is so mother-haunted that although the child is not consciously thinking of its mother, yet when calamity arises, the relationship that abides is that of the mother. So we are to live and move and have our being in God, to look at everything in relation to God, because the abiding consciousness of God pushes itself to the front all the time.

If we are haunted by God, nothing else can get in, no cares, no tribulation, no anxieties. We see now why Our Lord so emphasized the sin of worry. How can we dare be so utterly unbelieving when God is round about us? To be haunted by God is to have an effective barricade against all the onslaughts of the enemy.

“His soul shall dwell at ease.” In tribulation, misunderstanding, slander, in the midst of all these things, if our life is hid with Christ in God, He will keep us at ease. We rob ourselves of the marvellous revelation of this abiding companionship of God. “God is our Refuge”—nothing can come through that shelter.
