Good morning. What a wonderful way to start the service with a baptism. At the end of the service today you will have a chance to meet Dewayne and welcome him to the family of God and our family here at CCC

God is so good. He moves in our lives every single day and moves in mighty ways

Doesn’t matter if it is healing the sick in a physical way or walking with the sick and comforting them and strengthening them and giving them peace and courage as they walk the path He created for them to walk

Shadrach Meshach and Abendego weren’t afraid of the furnace

They were not afraid of death

They knew whether they lived or died God was with them and Jesus showed up in the fire with them

Praise God for Jesus being in our fires this morning

It is camp season. I want to first come to you and apologize as I and the elders dropped the ball in terms of camp preparation this year.

Time goes so quickly and it got away from us. Here is what we need you to do if you are sending a child or grandchild to camp or if you are going as a sponsor

We need you to go to the Maranatha Bible Camp website and sign your child or grandchild or yourself up as a sponsor need to use code Community24 all together capital C

If you can afford to pay for it please do so when you sign them up......if you can’t afford the full amount please pay what you can to the church either give it to one of the elders or mark you check in the memo with Camp Fee.

If you are not sending a child or grandchild or going as a sponsor but want to pay for a student or sponsor to go please give that to an elder or put in the offering plate with check marked camp sponsorship. The camper fees are 165 x 3, 225 x 3, 315 x 1 and sponsor fees 90, 110, 150

Unfortunately we are not in the same place financially as this time last year so we need help. We will also be planning a fundraiser in the youth meeting today to help offset the expense of camp. With all camper and sponsors going it is $2110.

As most know after our youth team meeting following services today I am headed to Camp Galilee in Eldo to serve as a camp counselor....Kinley will join me tomorrow for camp…praise the Lord!

i have never been there but my brother in Christ Gary Clark asked me to preach Tuesday night which I was so happy to accept and have the opportunity to bring the Word to the campers

When he asked me he told me he could use some help and asked if I would come for the week

At first I said no.......I have a very busy summer and just don’t think there is time for camp

Well his offer set heavy on my heart and I began to pray about it

A couple of weeks ago I ran into him at Walmart and he said he could really use my help....there were more kids already signed up for this year than last year....I told him I would continue to pray about it and talk with Melody about it and let him know

It was clear in prayer and talking together with Melody that I should go for the week so I texted him that I was in and would be there the entire week

I am so very excited to go as I love camp

I love meeting new faces

I love building new relationships

I love sharing the gospel

I love preaching

Most importantly I love getting an entire week to focus only on Jesus!!!!!!!

Melody and I will text back and forth a little bit and talk on the phone a few times but other than that my focus at camp it Jesus and campers either meeting Him or growing closer to Him!!!!

I get to do all of those things this week!!!!!

As I was praying about what to bring to you this morning as well as what to bring to the campers on Tuesday I heard

bring them the same thing

So that is what you are going to receive this morning. Now it will be a little bit different because the message for Tuesday at camp actually turned into a series for us here at CCC....Praise the Lord in how he works

We are embarking on a 5 sermon series…it will take 6 weeks as Doug Gamble from GNPI is coming on June 30th to preach and share about GNPI so this will run through July 7th.

Then on July 14th Gary Kurtz will be preaching as Melody and I will be at the lake with family as we do every July.

Then on July 21st we are going to start one of two sermon series leading us to IT. The first is called Balance....focusing on the balance we are to have in our lives as Christians and the second is Spiritual Warfare as it is important to prepare for Spiritual warfare as we embark upon IT as a family here at CCC

On October 6th we will kick of IT with our potluck and brainstorm and the sermon series called IT......salvation and discipleship

the series will wrap up with a potluck and ministry fair

That is a glance at what is coming in the near future....I know God has great things in store for us....make and excuse to be here and see what He has for you!

Living Unashamed for Christ. That is exactly what Christians should be doing and what we will look at over the next several weeks together

This morning the sermon is entitled Foundation

To live unashamed for Christ you must have the correct foundation.

As I was praying about what to bring this morning and to the campers at camp on Tuesday one verse stood out and I knew it was the verse God wanted me to focus on

Philippians 1:20

“as it is my eager expectation and hope that I will not be at all ashamed, but that with full courage now as always Christ will be honored in my body, whether by life or by death.”

As I wrote the words of this verse on paper God made it very clear this was what He wanted me to bring it to you.

I love the whole conversation in Philippians 1:19-30 but felt called to focus on verse 20

God began to bring other scriptures to mind and give me an outline for this message and then that grew into the outline for a series

This morning I want to look at 3 main points....3 truths....3 applications one must take to live unashamed for Christ

1. You Must Accept Jesus

Romans 3:23

“for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,”

All…you…me…anyone alive has sinned and fallen short of the glory of God…everyone except Jesus…no exceptions

Romans 6:23

________________________

You cannot live unashamed for Christ and the Gospel until you have accepted Jesus through the Holy Spirit awakening you to the truth of the Gospel

What is the truth of the gospel?

“For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

the wages of sin is death.....all have sinned..the payment…the only way to be justified is through death…death of a perfect sacrifice.....one you cannot be because of your sin

This is a pretty bleak outlook…you…I…have sinned and to be justified there must be a perfect death.....you and I are far from perfect because of our sin so we are doomed to hell

But then God moved

Romans 5:8

“but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”

God made a way where there was no way. He showed us how much He loves us by sending Jesus to die in our place....while we were sinners....enemies of God…WOW

What a loving and wonderful God

Romans 10:9–10

“because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved.”

That is how you are saved

confess....make Jesus Lord and Savior

repent of your sins and sinful ways.....repentance must happen before confession and salvation can happen

repentance means you agree that you are a sinner and because of that sin you deserve death and hell

you truly believe Jesus lived a perfect life…died a on the cross as a perfect sacrifice in your place and my place so you make Him Lord.....

You repent....change your direction and

you die to sin

you die to the world

you die to yourself

Then you believe God raised Jesus from the dead granting you eternal life

That is salvation but God doesn’t stop there

Romans 8:1

“There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.”

Not only are you saved but you are free from condemnation because of what Christ Jesus did for you no the cross

He bought you

You accepted his offer of forgiveness

you, through the Holy Spirit applied His blood to your sin debt

You are justified

just as if you never sinned

That is who you are as a Christian

That is the only way to begin to live unashamed for Christ

if you have never done that before God is calling you to do that this morning

2. You Must Be Grounded In God’s Word

Once you are saved you are good

your price has been paid and applied to your sin debt

you are justified

you are free from the power of sin and death

you are free from the power of satan and his demons

you are provided for and protected by God Himself because of Jesus

you are good but God wants you to grow

God wants you to enjoy relationship with Him on earth

God begins the sanctification process as soon as you are saved

That begins by you making God’s Word top priority in your life and here is why

2 Timothy 3:16–17

“All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.”

God’s Word was breathed out by Him

Human writers wrote God’s breath down through the power of the Holy Spirit

God’s Word in infallible…without contradiction…written by 40 authors over thousands of years and still able to change lives today!

God breathed and perfect!

What is is perfect for?

teaching

....comes from a Greek noun meaning teaching…instruction....doctrine

it is profitable for teaching you how to live and who God really is!!!!!

reproof

…Greek noun means proof, conviction, evidence

it is profitable for proving God is real…alive....active today

correction

Greek noun a straightening up again, rectification

it is profitable for getting you on or back on the right path following Jesus

training

Greek noun education or training, chastening, disciplinary correction

profitable for God convicting you and changing sinful behavior....repentance

righteousness

Greek noun justification. righteousness

profitable for helping you understand and strive for right standing with God

Why all of this?

To be ready for every good work

To live unashamed for Christ you must be grounded in the Word

You have to truly know who God is to live unashamed for Christ

Without God’s Word and the Holy Spirit teaching it to you you will never grow

1 Peter 2:2

“Like newborn infants, long for the pure spiritual milk, that by it you may grow up into salvation—”

Hebrews tells us to desire to move from milk to meat…here in Peter we are to long for spiritual milk so you may grow in your salvation

God grows you through His Word

If you aren’t grounded in His Word

if you don’t crave His Word

How can you live unashamed for Christ because you don’t even truly know Him!!!!!!!

3. You Must Live From Christ

Once you are saved the first step in obedience is baptism....just as we saw Dewayne do this morning

Baptism is there for a reason

God said so and Jesus was baptized to give us the example to follow

It is a public profession of your faith being placed in Jesus....of you dying to yourself and living from Jesus

It is a symbol of what has happened spiritually....the change that happened inside of you

Baptism symbolizes your death to self

your death to the world

your death to sin

your death to satan

going under the water and being raised to new life

Romans 6:4

“We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life.”

That newness of life is a life completely surrendered to Jesus

dead to self

dead to sin

dead to world

dead to satan

dead to you

you cannot live unashamed for Christ and still be alive to self and sin and the world and satan

It is not possible

So how do you know?

Anyone can claim to live unashamed for Christ

Most can even make it look like they are living unashamed for Christ

How do you know?

Galatians 5:16–17

“But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. For the desires of the flesh are against the Spirit, and the desires of the Spirit are against the flesh, for these are opposed to each other, to keep you from doing the things you want to do.”

Walk by the Spirit

you are saved…justified…now brothers and sisters in Christ…God’s children.....you are the only ones with the Holy Spirit…that is why salvation is where this all starts

You cant walk by the Spirit if you do not have the Spirit

Then you must listen as the Holy Spirit convicts you

encourages you

applies scripture to your life

If you walk in the Spirit you will not gratify the desires of the flesh

notice those fleshly desires

those worldly desires

those sinful desires

still exist you just will not gratify or indulge in them

Why

Because they are opposites

They cannot coexist

they are like oil and water…can’t mix

So how do you know

How do you know if you walk in the Spirit or in the flesh

Galatians 5:18–21

“But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law. Now the works of the flesh are evident: sexual immorality, impurity, sensuality, idolatry, sorcery, enmity, strife, jealousy, fits of anger, rivalries, dissensions, divisions, envy, drunkenness, orgies, and things like these. I warn you, as I warned you before, that those who do such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.”

These are some of the fruits of the flesh.

Sexual immorality, impurity, sensuality

These are all dealing with physical relationships

Adultery is here, sleeping with another mans wife or another wife's husband

Remember Jesus takes this a step further and says if you lust after someone in your mind......think about having sex with them....you have committed adultery

It is a heart issue as well as a physical issue

Impurity is sex outside of marriage…premarital sex....any sexual act outside of marriage

sensuality…this is the over the top lifestyle.....need more and more and more…lots of times sexual in nature but doesn’t have to be....

it is excessive living and behavior

you do you

you only live once

live your best life

all glorifying you and not Jesus....fruits of the flesh

Idolatry…putting anything before God

money

power

sports

hobbies

boyfriend/girlfriend

ministry

family

anything you put before God is an idol and a fruit of the flesh

sorcery…witchcraft…playing directly with the devil…Ouija boards, evil games, horoscopes, palm reading, evil music…those who glorify satan with their music and you glorify them means you are glorifying satan…sorcery

The next go hand in hand and usually build off of each other

enmity is hatred…human hearts long to hate....hold a grudge…make them earn forgiveness…refuse to die to self and put others first

strife is divisions…seeking to divide not unify...

jealously hateful resentment…stopping at nothing to get what others have

fits of anger…the first three are things that can be done on the inside....strife shows up externally but is also internal

fits of anger is when the internal boils over to the external and you explode…wrath....fits of rage

rivalries.....this is not a competition....all should be on the same team…Jesus team....if they are not saved then you are praying and routing them on to be saved....nothing to compete over....no rival to have....if they are saved you are co-heirs with each other and Jesus....brothers and sisters in Christ there is no room for competition

envy....drunkeness…orgies…you get the picture

looks and sounds like a normal American lifestyle doesn’t it.

That is why you must live unashamed for Jesus and leave these things behind.

If these fruits are present in your life you are not walking in the Spirit

you are walking in the flesh and are living unashamed for satan not Jesus!!!!!

But God doesn’t stop there…He tells you the fruit He will produce in and through you via the Holy Spirit

Galatians 5:22–23

“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.”

The Holy Spirit is God

You cannot stop God

God will ALWAYS produce fruit

This is the fruit that the Holy Spirit produces in the lives of Christians......those walking in the Spirit

Love.....Agape love....God’s love....sacrificial love…the same love that sent Jesus to the cross and the same love that allowed Jesus to endure the cross....least of these kind of love

Joy....comes from a Greek word that means cheerfulness, calm delight…gladness....Jesus is our joy.....your secure future in heaven as a Christian is your joy

Peace…comes from a Greek word that means peace....quietness....rest....notice not our definition of peace as lack of conflict.....not this peace transcends every circumstance and situation and brings you a quietness and rest in the midst of the chaos

Patience…comes from Greek word that means longsuffering, fortitude, patience.....patience from the Spirit is a choice.....you are choosing to suffer long out of agape love.....think about how much God has suffered because of your dumb decisions and sin......you are to choose to suffer because of others dumb decision and sin because you love them just as God loves you

Gentleness…comes from a Greek word that means usefulness, morally excellence in character and demeanor, gentleness, goodness, kindness......acting like Jesus.....morally excellent in character and demeanor....Jesus’ definition of morally excellent not the worlds or yours

Goodness…comes from a Greek word that means goodness, virtue....looking out for others....seeking to do good in others lives for no other reason than you love them and Jesus loves them

Faith…comes from a Greek word that means credence; moral conviction (of religious truth, or the truthfulness of God or a religious teacher

You know who God is and you live according to who God is because of what He has done for you....He is who He says He is and He will do what He says He will do and you believe that with every fiber of your being

Meekness comes from a Greek word that means gentleness, by implication, humility:—meekness.

meekness is a choice.....you choose to humble or you choose to be arrogant

self-control comes from a Greek word meaning self control or temperance according to Websters 1828 dictionary temperance means Moderation; particularly, habitual moderation in regard to the indulgence of the natural appetites and passions; restrained or moderate indulgence;

Just because you can doesn’t mean you should

Think of this as living under the control of the Holy Spirit.....you are choosing to do things God’s Way

If you are a Christian you will see all of these fruits in your life....it may start very small.....spiritual milk....baby steps but you must see them if you have the Holy Spirit living inside of you because He will produce fruit in and through you

You know where you are this morning.

You know who you are living unashamed for…satan or Jesus

If you need Jesus come

If you need to get right with God because you realize this morning you are walking in the flesh not in the spirit

you realize you are living ashamed for Jesus not unashamed for Jesus come

Come give it to Jesus this morning at the altar

Remember the altar is nothing special but the One who meets you at the alter....Jesus is special.....as you kneel an elder will come and pray over you and will be happy to pray with you. When you are done with Jesus let them know how they can pray for you.

Today is the day to walk out of here living unashamed for Jesus......if something is in the way come
