Five Steps To Create a Dysfunctional Family

Step 1 - Have A Father Who Plays Favorites

Loved Esau because he loved to eat of his game.

Didn’t share his blessing with all of his children, but wanted to give it all to Esau.

Step 2 - Have a Manipulating Mother

She also had her obvious favorite.

Manipulate - control or influence (a person or situation) cleverly, unfairly, or unscrupulously.

She used whatever means to accomplish her plan.

Step 3 - Have a Deceitful Brother

Jacob was living up to his name.

Step 4 - Have a Reactionary Brother

Esau had a pattern of being reactionary instead of having measured responses.

Step 5 - Have Horrible Daughter-in-Laws

Important Truth:

God usually works through us in spite of ourselves.

This means that just because God is working His purposes through us, it does not mean we are in the right.
