was crucified, died, and was buried;*

He descended to the dead

on the third day he rose again

he ascended into heaven,

and will come again to judge the living and the dead.

Wholehearted Worship

When we look at our first Scripture today I ask you do we really follow this scripture? Do we really love the Lord with all our heart and soul? Before I went into the hospital we were in a sermon series which brought us through the great 50 days of Easter. As I look back I think we took it for granted. I want today to be a new beginning for all of us as Christians. We as humans are great at talking and showing up when it fits our schedule. But do we really commit to Jesus Christ. I came close to checking out 2 weeks ago. And I believe the good lord was allowing me to get to that point to realize we as humans are only here for a very short time. we need to realize when our number is up there is no second chances. I have warned you I was going to ask you do you know where you are going when you die? Well I have been dragging my feet. I want to be clear I know where I’m going when I die. But only through the grace of God I am going to heaven. But we all need to realize this is not just a get on and ride the bus when we think we need it. The Lord does not love me or you part time or ever some times. He tells us in our first scripture He wants us to love him with all our heart all our soul and all our strength. We have spoke of this many times but today I am asking do you really understand this is not just when we think of it. I want to expand a little on our first scripture lets look at

Deuteronomy 6:4-6

4 Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one.[a]

5 Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength.

6 These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts.

When these scripture were given to Isreal by Mosses these were not suggestions. if you look at verse six it says these are to be in your heart. Not a recommended feeling not a suggested action. Mosses was telling the Israelites this was a commandment. Given by God himself. I owe you all an apology I have not stressed the fact that the lord wants us full time not just when we want him. When we come to worship the prayers are not optional the songs are all part of our prayers. we sometimes feel like we do not get anything out of the message God gives me to share. But that’s our fault. Are we thinking to much about whats for lunch or the food we have n the oven or the plans we have this afternoon? God want’s nothing more than he gives us. he gives us 100% all the time he is just asking for you to give everything you do up for his glory. Show him the love he shows us. That’s where we get true Wholehearted Worship. When we come to God he wants us all. We started to talk about not getting anything out of church sometimes. Do you realize everything God gives me in a sermon is ment for each of you. It will be different for some but it’s meant for each of us. I only ask you give God the respect and attention you would give someone that came to tell you, you just won a million dollars. I bet if someone told you that you would hang on there every word. But Jesus is offering us eternity not just money that only last so long. You see I want each of us to go to heaven. But like anything else good it takes work on our part. If we want a new car we don’t just go to a car lot and say give me a car. We have to have a way to pay for it. When we come to worship God ask us into heaven and to pay for it we have to accept Jesus christ as our lord and savior and ask for forgiveness. This is the only way. But all things good come with a price there are rules to follow. One is have no other God’s before me. I realize we don’t look at our thing we enjoy as a god but when we put them before God then thats when we get into trouble. That includes not gathering as children of God and giving him our full attention when we are gathered. Which includes singing and praying and looking for what God is trying to tell each of us each time we meet. If we don’t listen and follow God’s commandments how will we ever think we can make disciples of men. Which God commands us to do as followers of Jesus Christ. I just don’t want us to think we can play christian and get into heaven.

We need to live a life of faith, in God to supply our every need. We really need to Give him our wholehearted Worship.

Let us pray

Almighty God, in a world of change you placed eternity in our hearts and gave us power to discern good from evil. Grant us sincerity, that we may persistently seek the things that endure, refusing those which perish, and that, amid things vanishing and deceptive, we may see the truth steadily, follow the light faithfully, and grow ever richer in that love which is life of all people; through Jesus Christ our savior.
