Acts 8:12 But when they believed Philip preaching the things concerning the kingdom of God, and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women.

Acts 8:35 Then Philip opened his mouth, and began at the same scripture, and preached unto him Jesus. 36 And as they went on their way, they came unto a certain water: and the eunuch said, See, here is water; what doth hinder me to be baptized? 37 And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.

1. I’ve got 40 something verses and only 15 or 20 minutes.

2. Every fact in the Bible is important so I can’t intentionally leave nothing out.

3. I’ve got to Baptize Travis this morning and he as well as others in here deserves a good sermon and the church said Amen.

The bible says in Acts 7 that Saul kept on persecuting the New Christian Church. In fact Saul held everybody’s coat while they stoned Deacon Stephen to death. And the bible says that Christian believers gave Deacon Stephen a good godly funeral. The Saul who would later become Paul persecuted the Christian Church and this persecution caused Deacon Phillip to flee from Jerusalem. This was called the Diasperio. The Diasperio means literally to scatter seed.

And so the New Christian Movement went to Samaria judea and other places. And Phillip was instrumental in the Samarian Church’s growth. Phillip was a powerful influential Disciple of Jesus Christ. Peter nem ordained Phillip to be a deacon and Phillip to it further and became a great evangelist for Jesus Christ.

In Fact Phillip was a bridge builder between the orthodox Jews and the New Samaritan converts. The bible tells us that Phillip is doing the work of an evangelist because He’s preaching and folk are being delivered. He’s laying hands on sick folk and they are being healed. Phillip is casting our demons. And Phillip is Baptizing folk and they are being saved.

And the bible say that there was a man named Simon the sorcerer. He was fake he was phony and he was full of magic and witchcraft. Simon was a counterfeit but he could perform sign and wonders. And the bible says that Phillip kept on Preaching Christ.

Let me say this quickly, God isn’t going to let the devil shine brighter than Him. And so long story short Simon comes and accepts Jesus and wants to get baptized. But Simon’s motive isn’t right. The counterfeit stays right there by Phillip, trying to discover the source of Phillip’s Power. And Imagine Phillip saying Simon if you’re not truly connected it won’t make a difference if you know the very secret to my sauce you just ain’t me.

And so the Samaritan Church is growing and Phillip sends for Peter and John. Peter comes and Simon went to hero worshipping Peter. Peter laid hands on the newly baptised converts and they recieved the gift of the Holy Ghost. Simon sees this and asked to buy the gift of the Holy Ghost and Peter rebukes him. Peter says to repent!!!Peter says in essence son you can’t buy your way to heaven. And the mere fact that you’re trying to go back door is a sign that you’re a thief and a robber. Because Jesus said anybody that doesn’t come correct through the door of the Shepherd of the sheep is like a thief and a robber. And Simon the counterfeit is pushed to the side.praying to God that God doesn’t kill him for his wicked intentions.

Then the bible says in verse 26 that the good Lord instructs Phillip is journey South in the desert towards Gaza. Peter and John are going back to Jerusalem and are preaching in every little town and village along the way. And that tells me something. ( what it is Rev?) You’ve got find your purpose your place and your calling your ministry.

And so God has Phillip on assignment. Because there was a dignitary caravaning and convoying back to Ethiopia. God will put us in places and spaces that will give Him glory. The Ethiopian Eunuch has been to Jerusalem to worship. He’s not bootleg, He’s not mediocre, He’s not just a fly by night no no no He’s Queen Candace’s Treasurer. He handles all of the kingdom of Ethiopia’s Money. In other words he’s the money man. He knows numbers and he is royalty. Preach Pastor. But even more than that the Ethiopian Eunuch is a believer and he reads the word of God.

Tell your neighbor: You got to read the word of God if you want to get stronger.

Spend time reading God’s word, and even if you don’t fully understand it, it will help you anyhow.
Spend time reading God’s word, and even if you don’t fully understand it, it will help you anyhow.
What do you mean by that? If you don’t understand God’s word God Himself will always send somebody to help you understand. Because the word of God says in Romans 10:14 How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher? 15 And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!

And so the bible says that the Ethiopian Eunuch was orally reading Isaiah 53. Yeah 2x and Phillip heard him reading. And the Spirit made Phillip stopped and joined himself to where the Ethiopian Eunuch was. Church more and more these days I find myself having random religious Christian conversations with people out in public spaces. Sometimes they’re black sometimes they’re white and to me it doesn’t matter what your color is because Christ suffered hung bled and died for all of our sins. And the church said Amen

Well let’s talk a bout that very thing. Because the Ethiopian was reading Isaiah 53. Isaiah 53 is straight up prophecy about Jesus Christ as the Messiah. And The bible says in Acts 8:35 Then Philip opened his mouth, and began at the same scripture, and preached unto him Jesus.

Phillip Preached these word 1. Who hath believed our report? and to whom is the arm of the LORD revealed? 2 For he shall grow up before him as a tender plant, and as a root out of a dry ground: he hath no form nor comeliness; and when we shall see him, there is no beauty that we should desire him. 3 He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not.

Phillip said that Christ's passion foretold because
4 Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. 5 But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. 6 All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all. 7 He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth: he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he openeth not his mouth. 8 He was taken from prison and from judgment: and who shall declare his generation? for he was cut off out of the land of the living: for the transgression of my people was he stricken. 9 And he made his grave with the wicked, and with the rich in his death; because he had done no violence, neither was any deceit in his mouth.and the sacrifice of the Righteous Servant 10 Yet it pleased the LORD to bruise him; he hath put him to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of the LORD shall prosper in his hand. 11 He shall see of the travail of his soul, and shall be satisfied: by his knowledge shall my righteous servant justify many; for he shall bear their iniquities. 12 Therefore will I divide him a portion with the great, and he shall divide the spoil with the strong; because he hath poured out his soul unto death: and he was numbered with the transgressors; and he bare the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors.

Phillip walked that text 3x Yes Sir and we know he did a good job because as soon as the Ethiopian Eunuch came close to a body of water he got Baptized Let me prove it.

In verse 36 And as they went on their way, they came unto a certain water: and the eunuch said, See, here is water; what doth hinder me to be baptized? 37 And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.

And right there we have the Doctrines of Regeneration and Conversion to the New Christian Faith coming into view. The Ethiopian Eunuch was already a believer of Judaism but not Christianity. And when he said I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, that’s when things changed.

And so I’ve got to close here but Look at verse 38 And he commanded the chariot to stand still: and they went down both into the water, both Philip and the eunuch; And I imagine in my sanctified mind that Phillip said “My obedience to God the Great Head of the Church, um um um I now Baptize you yes In the Name of the Father and in the name of the Son and in the Name of the Holy Ghost Amen and the bible says he baptized him.

And in verse 39 And when they were come up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord caught away Philip, that the eunuch saw him no more: and he went on his way rejoicing. Oh Lord yes The bible says they were rejoicing. And I’ve discovered that you can’t rejoice if you don’t have no joy. And the question is “Is there anybody in here that’s got Joy today? Because all of Heaven is rejoicing over Little Travis getting baptized this morning. And while we’ve got water if there’s anybody else want to be baptized in to the body of Christ , we’ll baptize you too. Come on down and give me your hand and give God your heart and you will be saved.Because One day I came to Jesus just as I was I was wearied worn and sad but I found in Him a sweet old resting place. Yeah! Ain’t he Alright!
