Diddy is found to have physically abused Cassie Ventura and the world is amiss with making sure that it cancels Sean Combs. People won’t play the music or invite him to their conference
Cancel Culture is pervasive. However is cancel culture gospel.
We are going to look at a passage of scripture today about a man who had been slandering the leader of the corinthian church. We don’t know his name, but we know that a significant amount of people believed the lies that the man had said. Once Paul had alerted them to the situation many of those people who went after him repented and realized that the slanderer was bad news. They called him out and put him out. At some point the scriptures imply that the man felt sorrow for what he had done. It is there where we are going to meet the story.
Read text:
5 Now if anyone has caused pain, he has caused it not to me, but in some measure—not to put it too severely—to all of you. 6 For such a one, this punishment by the majority is enough, 7 so you should rather turn to forgive and comfort him, or he may be overwhelmed by excessive sorrow. 8 So I beg you to reaffirm your love for him. 9 For this is why I wrote, that I might test you and know whether you are obedient in everything. 10 Anyone whom you forgive, I also forgive. Indeed, what I have forgiven, if I have forgiven anything, has been for your sake in the presence of Christ, 11 so that we would not be outwitted by Satan; for we are not ignorant of his designs.
the point:Jesus motivation for discipline to church members is restoration, we should forgive those who offend us when they repent and welcome them back in.

the practice of training people to obey rules or a code of behavior, using punishment to correct disobedience.
Illustration: Imagine a sports team where the coach sees potential in every player. When one player consistently misses practice, the coach, along with the team, approaches the player not to scold him but to encourage him to return. The player's return benefits the whole team, strengthening their unity and performance. Similarly, Jesus uses our Christian community to lovingly guide us back on track when we stray.
Jesus discipline for you is not to tear you apart— its to restore you.

illustration: Think of a potter working with clay. If the clay becomes misshapen, the potter doesn't throw it away. Instead, he carefully reshapes and molds it into a beautiful vessel. Jesus' discipline is like the potter's hands, reshaping our lives to bring out our best, not to destroy us but to restore us to our intended purpose.
