God has revealed a lot about Himself in what He has created - Psalm 19:1-6

The Heavens can reveal the character of God - Psalm 19:1-4

Psalm 19:1–4 NIV
The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands. Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they reveal knowledge. They have no speech, they use no words; no sound is heard from them. Yet their voice goes out into all the earth, their words to the ends of the world. In the heavens God has pitched a tent for the sun.
God is limitless
God is immensely powerful
God is incredibly complex
Without speech (vs. 3) creation communicates (vs. 4)

In all this awe, we are not to worship the creation - Deuteronomy 4:19

And when you look up to the sky and see the sun, the moon and the stars—all the heavenly array—do not be enticed into bowing down to them and worshiping things the Lord your God has apportioned to all the nations under heaven.

Creation reveals enough that all men are without excuse - Romans 1:19-20

Romans 1:19–20 NIV
since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them. For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse.

David poetically uses the Sun as an evidence of God’s existence - Psalm 19:4-6

Yet their voice goes out into all the earth, their words to the ends of the world. In the heavens God has pitched a tent for the sun. It is like a bridegroom coming out of his chamber, like a champion rejoicing to run his course. It rises at one end of the heavens and makes its circuit to the other; nothing is deprived of its warmth.
The sun is the basis for how we define time
The sun regulates the temperature of our planet
The sun provides gravity
The sun controls tides and weather

God has revealed all that we need in His Word - Psalm 19:7-9

Psalm 19:7–9 NIV
The law of the Lord is perfect, refreshing the soul. The statutes of the Lord are trustworthy, making wise the simple. The precepts of the Lord are right, giving joy to the heart. The commands of the Lord are radiant, giving light to the eyes. The fear of the Lord is pure, enduring forever. The decrees of the Lord are firm, and all of them are righteous.

Law of the Lord - The comprehensive term

Precepts of the Lord - Reasoning behind the law
Commands of the Lord - The specific mandates
Fear of the Lord - The attitude of awe
Decrees of the Lord - God’s judgments

Perfect - Flawless (Psalm 18:30)

As for God, his way is perfect: The Lord’s word is flawless; he shields all who take refuge in him.
Trustworthy - Confirmed
Right - Morally right
Radiant - Reflecting God’s glory
Pure - Without impurity
Firm - Unchanging

Six Verbs

Refreshing the Soul
Making wise the simple
Giving joy to the heart

Our response to God’s Revelation - Psalm19:10-14

The value of God’s Word - Psalm 19:10

Psalm 19:10–11 NIV
They are more precious than gold, than much pure gold; they are sweeter than honey, than honey from the honeycomb. By them your servant is warned; in keeping them there is great reward.
God’s word is more valuable than Gold
God’s word is sweeter (more desirable) than honey

God’s Word rewards those who keep it - Psalm 19:11-13

Psalm 19:11–13 (NIV)
By them your servant is warned; in keeping them there is great reward.
But who can discern their own errors? Forgive my hidden faults.
Keep your servant also from willful sins; may they not rule over me. Then I will be blameless, innocent of great transgression.
God’s word reveals sin we were not aware of
God’s word Keeps us from wilful disobedience

God’s Word leads to worship that is pleasing to God - Psalm 19:14

Psalm 19:14 NIV
May these words of my mouth and this meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, Lord, my Rock and my Redeemer.
