Blessed Is The Man
Blessed is a common word today. have a blessed day
God bless you or just bless you
but what does it really mean to be Blessed?
How blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked, Nor stand in the way of sinners, Nor sit in the seat of scoffers!
But his delight is in the law of Yahweh, And in His law he meditates day and night.
And he will be like a tree firmly planted by streams of water, Which yields its fruit in its season And its leaf does not wither; And in whatever he does, he prospers.
a blessed person described as a well watered tree
has a firm foundation
its leaves and fruit are beautiful
whatever he does prospers/ this is not a financial prospering
4-5 the wicked are not so
they will be judged and found guilty
in Matthew 5 we see more descriptions of someone who is blessed
“Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.
Blessed are the lowly, for they shall inherit the earth.
Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied.
Blessed are the merciful, for they shall receive mercy.
Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.
Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God.
Blessed are those who have been persecuted for the sake of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
“Blessed are you when people insult you and persecute you, and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of Me.
Blessed people are someone who is blessed by God
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ,
Blessed people have a great hope awaiting us
blessed is defined as receiving happiness from God
receiving favor from God
a deep joy that does not be shaken by circumstances
a blessed person is a someone who had a deep faith
who trusts in a sovereign God who is in control of all
Kiss the Son, lest He become angry, and you perish in the way, For His wrath may soon be kindled. How blessed are all who take refuge in Him!
blessed is a person who is secure in their savior
soo we have an Idea of what blessed means lets look at our text for this morning
Luke 11 23,27-28

this woman whether trying to change the subject
or was feeling really good about Jesus said these things
in this culture saying something like this bout someones mother.
they are giving the compliment to the person spoken to Jesus
But Jesus corrected her
was Mary blessed?
Luke 1 46-55.
Mary was indeed blessed of God
But Jesus is God
this woman was very sincere when she complimented Jesus
but giving Jesus a nice accolade is not turning to him and believing in Him for salvation
V 23 he who is not with me is against me
a lot of people today say they believe in God and think that they are saved
without repentance without committing themselves to Jesus
lets not focus on my mother Jesus says
But lets focus on the whole family of God

eternal happiness
a life of living by faith here on this earth
Living with the blessed hope of the return of Christ to get his bride
a way of life that is blessed by God in spite of all the heartache of that sin has plagued us all
this blessing from God is given to those who hear God’s word and keep id / or do it
those who hear and do
through whom we received grace and apostleship for the obedience of faith among all the Gentiles for the sake of His name,

Romans is sandwiched with the phrase obedience of faith
ILLUSTRATION OF OBEDIENCE OF FAITH - The integral nature of faith and works. It has been said that separating faith and works is like separating the heat and light from a candle. You know both are produced by the candle. You know they are not the same thing. You also know you cannot separate them.
the faith of someone is evidenced by their works
before we are saved our works no matter how good they are is
For all of us have become like one who is unclean, And all our righteous deeds are like a filthy garment; And all of us wither like a leaf, And our iniquities, like the wind, carry us away.
turn to James 1 19-27.
the brother of Jesus says the same thing in a different way
receiving blessings from God involves us hearing God’s word and responding positively to it
many hear and walk away
If you are saved you are blessed
you are a part of the family
no matter the trials and tribulations that are going on you are still blessed
you still have hope
you still can live your life as if God is in control of the universe
you have an internal joy that is above all the heartache this sinful world can throw at you.
sometimes we just need to tell our face this beautiful message
