1/2/24 “A Doubtless Deliverance”
Preliminaries
It is wonderful to be in church with everyone again. I am so thankful for this church. I can truly say that this is my home away from home. Everyone has just made me feel so welcome even from very early on in mine and Kelsey’s relationship, and I just appreciate all of you wonderful folks.
But if you've got your Bible you can begin turning to 2 Samuel 5:17-21
I do want to give honor to your pastors. They have played a huge role in my life and in my ministry and I do appreciate them so much. I want to thank Bro Jerid for this opportunity to share his pulpit. I am very humbled and honored to be able to minister here at Lighthouse.
I also want to give honor to Bro George Davis and Sis Tammy. They have such a great Legacy and they are just some of the best people in the world. You'll not meet a kinder person than Bro George. I'm just so thankful for them.
Scripture
If you have 2 Samuel 5:17 would you stand to reverence the reading of the word?
17 But when the Philistines heard that they had anointed David king over Israel, all the Philistines came up to seek David; and David heard of it, and went down to the hold.
18 The Philistines also came and spread themselves in the valley of Rephaim.
19 And David enquired of the Lord, saying, Shall I go up to the Philistines? wilt thou deliver them into mine hand? And the Lord said unto David, Go up: for I will doubtless deliver the Philistines into thine hand.
20 And David came to Baal Perazim, and David smote them there, and said, The Lord hath broken forth upon mine enemies before me, as the breach of waters. Therefore he called the name of that place Baalperazim.
21 And there they left their images, and David and his men burned them.
I want to draw our attention to the second half of that 19th verse that said : And the Lord said unto David, Go up: for I will DOUBTLESS DELIVER the Philistines into thine hand.
If the Lord will help me I want to preach tonight on “A Doubtless Deliverance” Amen “A Doubtless Deliverance”
Would you stretch your hand this way and just ask the Lord to speak to us and just have his will in this service tonight.
David's Dilemma
Im preaching tonight on a “Doubtless Deliverance
Our text gives us a small window into one of the many stories of King David.
And we find him where we so often find him.. facing a battle facing an enemy, facing an army
David had just been through the long struggle with the king Saul
And he was finally anointed as King
And now the Philistines had gathered themselves there in the valley of Rephaim
And from my study this valley was at the very doorstep of Jerusalem
And the Bible said that David went down into the hold or the stronghold or safe place
And you won't read this but no doubt David was fearful that everything he had built, all his kingdom and all his family would be destroyed
No doubt he felt the pressure of being the King and having that responsibility to keep everything that he loved safe
And maybe you're here tonight
And you’re not facing a physical army tonight
Maybe there's not a physical enemy for you to battle
But I'd guess there are a few here that are facing something in your future that you know you need the help of God to get through
You know on your own you’re facing a fight you can't win.
But How many knows our God is still a Very Present Help in time of need? Amen?
But you might feel that you are in that place where the enemy is at the door.
And maybe you feel like you're in the thick of it.
But I just wanted to come and tell someone tonight that whatever Battle you're facing I believe there's a Doubtless Deliverance if you'll claim it in the name of Jesus. Hallelujah.
How many would like to see the Lord give us some Victory around the altar here in a few minutes?
I still believe God can meet our needs at an old fashioned altar? Amen?
How many believe God can still Deliver his people out of the hands of the enemy in 2024? …. Hallelujah.
David Enquired
David was watching an army gather just outside his city but what did he do?
The Bible said he enquired of the Lord
He took a step back and said yeah I know I've fought many many battles in my life but I'm gonna put this one in the Lord's hands.
I've won many battles with my sword and my shield but Lord I need you now more than ever!
You see David was very qualified to gather his men and go into battle with the Philistines
You can read in 1 Samuel 18
Where the women sang songs in the streets of David killing his 10000s
And how Saul placed him over a thousand man army
And later he killed 200 philistine men when he was seeking the hand of Saul's daughter Michal in marriage
If David knew anything David knew war
This is a valuable lesson to pull from this story
Although David was very capable, he also understood that without God, he was nothing
And he didn’t even wanna try it until he knew God was on his side
I believe this is something that we need to apply to our lives as children of God
Sometimes ( and I'm guilty of this myself) we try to be so self sufficient.
We try to figure everything out on our own.
If it's something I feel like I can handle by myself then I don't want to ask anybody for help.
I'm sure there's a lot of men in here like that.
Over the last few years I’ve gotten myself into many situations because I tried to do things on my own that I probably didn't have any business doing.
Story about changing oil in ford fusion shortly after we got married…
But I want to do things on my own. I don't like to ask for help.
But I believe sometimes God gives us trials…
And he lets us go through things… just to help us remember… that we need to lean on him and not lean on our own understanding.
It’s whenever we begin, leaning on our own understanding that life has a way of taking us down a notch
I know I’ve been there
But Proverbs 3:5-6 says
And we could all quote it
5 Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.
6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.
It said ALL your ways not some of our ways or a few of your ways but I believe in every situation
In every decision no matter how big or how small
We need to keep God at the center
We gotta make sure to put him first
I like that song y’all sing here I had never heard till I came and visited but it says Jesus at the center of it ALL. Amen?
And if we put it in God's hands
I know he’s gonna move on our behalf. Amen?
That verse said he SHALL direct thy paths
There’s such safety and such security in allowing God to direct your path, amen?
Gods promise
But David enquired of the Lord
He said Shall I go up?
Should I pursue my enemy?
God answers his question in verse 19 where He said “Go Up! For I will doubtless deliver the philistines into thine hand”
And I want us to notice what David does in verse 20
God gave him this promise of deliverance
God said Go up for I will doubtless deliver thee
But what does he do with it?
Verse 20 said
20 And David came to Baal Perazim, and David smote them there, and said, The Lord hath broken forth upon mine enemies before me, as the breach of waters.
He didn't say Im gonna stay here in my safe place
He didn't say God can you fight this battle for me?
He didn't ask God to give him a sign so he knew for sure
But David took action
And he had to grab the sword
And he had to grab the shield
And he had to rally the troops
And he let em know that God said to Go Up so were going up
And this is where I really want to preach to us.
I believe that Lord sent me down here to Seneca MO on a Sunday night to tell somebody that its not time set back and play defense
It's not time to hunker down and barricade in
It’s time to pursue the enemy in 2024!
The devils been throwing everything he's got at God people
Hes been playing tricks on your mind
Hes been saying this fight is more than you can handle
because He knows what a Holy Ghost filled child of God is capable of
He knows what God could do in your life if you had total victory
And hes been working overtime trying to get the saints to slip and to back up and to be passive
But I believe like David in our scripture its time to bring the battle to the enemy
It's time say Devil your not occupying my home
You're not occupying my mind
You're not messing with my family anymore
I feel like there's a doubtless deliverance for someone that would claim it in the name of Jesus
I know the devil is fighting but it’s time to fight back
It’s not worth allowing him to wreak havoc in our homes…
I remember a time in my home… and I’ve asked her permission to tell this
But Kelsey was fighting a battle with anxiety
I remember many times having to plead the blood of Jesus over her mind in the middle of night
Having to take authority over that
And saying devil you are not going to torment in this house
I remember many different services where mind battles were preached on and she would do her part take that step of faith
And we would pray and and we would plead the blood
And we would stand on the promise found in 2 Timothy 1:7
For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.“
How many knows its not Gods will for people to have constant battles in their mind. Amen?
And we fought that battle again and again until the Lord brought the victory
I’m happy to report that’s it been probably over a year since she has gone through an anxiety attack
But the victory didn’t come by us setting back and allowing the devil to have his way
We had to claim the victory over that and stand on the promises in the word
We had to do our part but God brought the deliverance!
David had to Pursue his enemy
He had to Go up and meet them in that Valley
Yes God promised the victory but David had to do his part
It's the same for us here tonight, church
Gods got deliverance on this altar for some folks
But youre gonna have to step out and be obedient to the Lord
Carlos “Chuck” Norris
I heard a story recently about a young boy named Carlos.
Carlos and his family moved to Miami FL when he was still in elementary school
But Carlos hated Miami for one reason.
There was a bully that lived next door to Carlos.
This bullies name was Billy.
Everyday after school Billy would chase Carlos home and when he would catch he would knock him down.. Pound him.. And insult the smaller boy.
Now there was a gas station near the cottages that the boys lived in and the owner's name was Jack.
Jack witnessed little Carlos getting bullied almost every day.
He knew Carlos' dad was an alcoholic and his mother worked two jobs and would not intervene in the boys dilemma.
Jack watched this struggle play out day after day until one day he saw Carlos run by alone.
He ran out and stopped Carlos and said I need to have a word with you.
Carlos urged the man I can't stop now Billy is just behind me and he’ll be here any minute.
Jack said you’re not going anywhere you need to stand up for yourself and fight this boy right now.
But bobby was too big Carlos pleaded
But Jack simply said you're not going to run today.
You’re not going to run today.
Waffle…
I know this problem looks bigger than you
Stronger
More than you can handle
You want to be like david and run down and hid in that safe place
Finally Billy came around the corner and and without a second thought Carlos lunged at him surprising the bully and knocking him flat to the ground
After a short wrestling match the bully cried I give I give.
And as Jack the Gas station man had known in heart from the start that bully never laid a hand on Carlos again…
Now this story may seem like an insignificant episode in the life of a couple of school children but its important for who the boy named Carlos became.
This event triggered Carlos to pursue a career in martial arts
And from 1968 - 1974 a man we've all heard of.. Carlos “Chuck” Norris became a martial arts world champion.
And he would go from a Defensless Child to a Defending Champion
All it took was for one man to say Hey you don't need to live in defeat
You don't need to live in fear
You don't have to run from your enemy anymore
And thats what Im here today to let somebody know
That thing that's been hanging over your head
That battle you can see on the horizon
If you'll take a stand Gods gonna be with you
2 Timothy 4:18 says
And the Lord shall deliver me from every evil work, and will preserve me unto his heavenly kingdom
The bible said hes gonna deliver us out of the hand of our enemy
He's gonna be with us
He's gonna walk beside us
I've NEVER seen the righteous forsaken
I believe that still holds true to this day! Amen?
Never In Doubt
I was praying about this message I knew I wanted to preach about God promise of Deliverance
But there's another word I want in that 19th verse of our text that I want to key in on
The bible said
And the Lord said unto David, Go up: for I will DOUBTLESS deliver the Philistines into thine hand.
That word Doubtless is where I want to focus just for a minute and well have a altar
Doubtless - that word simply means “without a doubt”
Without a doubt
I want to tell somebody tonight that that word was placed into that verse on purpose
And I believe someone needs to catch that word Doubtless
The devils been talking to you
He’s been in your ear saying it’s not for you
Tonight’s not your night
You’re never gonna be free from this
But that’s a lie of the devil
And God wanted you to know to push every doubt out of your mind
And believe that he’s here to help you
How many knows God could meet us right here in this service?
How many believe someone could get the victory they’ve been seeking? Amen?
Doubtless- without a doubt
I’ve begun to hear this phrase recently and maybe you've heard it or maybe you haven't
But it's this phrase Never In Doubt
Never in Doubt
This phrase is most often used in a facetious or sarcastic manner to indicate something that actually was in doubt.
For example If my favorite team is playing your favorite team and its the 4rth quarter and my team is completely beaten but by some miracle they are able to pull it out and win
I might play it off by saying oh it was.. Never in doubt
When in my heart I knew that game or that situation looked impossible
Now I began to think of that phrase and that thought in the context of this message
And how God placed that word Doubtless in our text
And I began to think of situations from the Bible that were never in doubt and a couple familiar stories stood out to me
What about when the children of Israel stood at the Red Sea with pharaoh behind and mountains on either side
But with God it was Never in Doubt
What about when David stood in front a Giant when he was just a little shepherd boy
But with God on his side it was Never in Doubt
Elijah stood on mount carmel and 450 prophets of Baal mocked him and said his God was dead
But the fire fell on the altar and it was Never in Doubt
The Jericho walls fell down
Daniel survived a lions den
The three hebrew boys walked out of the fiery furnace
Jonah survived the belly of the whale
What did these situations have in common
They all looked impossible but with God they were never in doubt
And oh yeah I seem to be remember a story
Of a man from Galilee
That they hung on a cross and watched him die
And then they laid him in a tomb
And the devil thought he won the battle
He thought he won the war
But I got news for you
It was never in doubt
It was never in doubt
Cause he got up
He got up
He got up on the third day
And crushed the devil under his feet
It was never in doubt
Jesus took the keys to death hell and the grave
——————————————————————————-
So why are you doubting God for your situation
When he's been doing it since the beginning of time
He’s still doing the miraculous
He’s still got all power in Heaven and earth
There’s no addiction he can't break
There's no disease he can't heal
There's no depression he can't deliver you out of
And I don't know what your problem might be but were serving a God that holds all power in his hands
And your situation with God is Never in Doubt
He's got a plan for you
He's still in control
And he sent me all the way to MO to tell you he's got a Doubtless Deliverance for you tonight!
Closing
The musicians can go ahead and make their way to the music.
20 And David came to Baal Perazim, and David smote them there, and said, The Lord hath broken forth upon mine enemies before me, as the breach of waters. Therefore he called the name of that place Baalperazim.
But what does that phrase Baal Perazim mean?
That phrase simply means “Lord of a Breakthrough” …
Ahhh How many glad were serving the Lord of a breakthrough tonight?
I believe this could be the service that someones gets their breakthrough
This could be the service someone gets the Deliverance over that thing you've been fighting with
Maybe it’s the spirit of fear that torments your mind
Or maybe it's that spirit of depression that's keeping you down
Or maybe it's that same sin or that same weight that so easily besets you
I don't know what your struggle might be
But this would be a good time for someone to claim the victory and let the devil know that God still on your side
Cause my Bible said in Romans 8:31b “If God be for us who can be against us.” Amen?
There's no enemy
There's no darkness
There's no depression
There's no addiction
There's no sickness or disease
There’s no man
And There’s no devil in hell
That can stand against the almighty creator of the universe
That can stand against my sweet Jesus
Cause he's the alpha the omega
He's The beginning and the end
He's The king of all kings and the lord of all lords
And my Bible said he's on your side!!
Hallelujah!
No matter what you're facing
No matter how big or how small
God sent me to tell Lighthouse
There's a Deliverance…
There's a Deliverance in Jesus' name, Amen?
Stand with us if you would church?
I don't know exactly what you might be facing
Maybe you need deliverance from sin tonight.
Maybe you need a healing
Maybe you need an answer from God, some direction
Maybe you need deliverance from anxiety or depression
Whatever you might need in the house tonight God is here to meet you at your need
God is here to help, and heal, and make whole
If I had a need in the house I’d bring it before God right now
If I had a need I wouldn’t wait in my seat
If I needed God to move in my situation these altars are open
Can we all come church
I believe if you’ll step out God.. will.. meet.. you
