What would it look like for your Summer to be a time where you intentionally grew your faith?

Passage:

2 Timothy 1:6–7 ESV

6 For this reason I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you through the laying on of my hands, 7 for God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control.

From Paul to Timothy

Paul’s last letter

Paul urges Timothy to PERSEVERE!

Timothy was about to enter an interesting season upon Paul’s death

Similarly, we are about to enter into an interesting season this Summer

God is urging us to persevere and go the distance this Summer

A gift

Given to us from God

The Holy Spirit

Lives inside you (upon salvation)

The HS empowers you to do all that God requires of you

Good news: We are not on our own!

You aren’t left to figure out your spiritual life over the Summer by yourself.

Fanning the flame

Literally “keep fanning”

Allow the HS to keep doing its thing

Don’t allow Summer relaxation to get in the way of this

Not a spirit of fear

“Fear is a driving source in our society.”

But its not the driving source of the Christian

God’s Spirit give us...

Power

The strength to do what God wants you to do

Love

Loving God and others, because He first loved us

Self-Discipline

Thinking clearly with wisdom and understanding
