There are many aspects to Spiritual Warfare, pacifism isn’t one!

We are fighting against the WORLD, the FLESH and the DEVIL

The New International Version (Ephesians Chapter 2)

As for you, you were dead in your transgressions and sins, 2 in which you used to live when you followed the ways of this world and of the ruler of the kingdom of the air, the spirit who is now at work in those who are disobedient. 3 All of us also lived among them at one time, gratifying the cravings of our flesh and following its desires and thoughts. Like the rest, we were by nature deserving of wrath.

Footholds Establish Strongholds

26 “In your anger do not sin”: Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry, 27 and do not give the devil a foothold.

Eph 4:26–27.

In Spiritual Warfare a foothold is used to establish a stronghold, “FOOTHOLD” is the word God put on my mind for you last week while coming back from Florida!

What is a foothold? According to Oxford’s Dictionary a foothold is “a secure position from which further progress may be made”

A foothold is incredibly helpful to: mountain climbers, wrestlers, lifters, people in those ever present quick sand pits…LOL The Believer and the Devil!

God wants you to gain a foothold where you are slipping!

The Battle is Most Often in Our Mind

The New International Version (Chapter 10)

3 For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does. 4 The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. 5 We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.

To many times we become “believers” for the purpose of receiving Salvation, but we fail to function as believers in relationship to the way we deal with “the world, the flesh and the devil”. In essence, we trust Him for Salvation, but lean on our own understanding (Proverbs 3:5-6)

5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; 6 in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight. 

In the battlefield of our mind we are losing ground if we constantly secularize our processes and procedures to the everyday challenges we face . Don’t get me wrong…you’re probably O.K. without any real serious consideration as to what socks you’re going to wear today much beyond the qualifications of “clean, matching and going with the rest of what you’re wearing! But if we approach the larger issues in life with a lazes fare attitude or worse, default to something sinful or blatantly opposite of what God’s word or His Spirit is telling you.

Your marriage, family, education, vocation, ministry involvement, relationships, finances, health, hobbies and hundreds of other areas of your life will suffer if you are not truly walking with Christ. It’s more than Sunday, it 24/7, 365! abiding in HIM! 1 Corinthians 2:15–16 “The person with the Spirit makes judgments about all things, but such a person is not subject to merely human judgments, for, “Who has known the mind of the Lord so as to instruct him?” But we have the mind of Christ.”

Spiritual Warfare has already been Won!

Before we freak out and spend all our free time in some kind of panic , we need to look to the truth of Gods word about spiritual Warfare, simply put; Satan is defeated and Christ Jesus has decisively won the victory at the cross!

Colossians 2:6–15 (NIV)

So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness.

See to it that no one takes you captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy, which depends on human tradition and the elemental spiritual forces of this world rather than on Christ.

For in Christ all the fullness of the Deity lives in bodily form, and in Christ you have been brought to fullness. He is the head over every power and authority. In him you were also circumcised with a circumcision not performed by human hands. Your whole self ruled by the flesh was put off when you were circumcised by Christ, having been buried with him in baptism, in which you were also raised with him through your faith in the working of God, who raised him from the dead.

When you were dead in your sins and in the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made you alive with Christ. He forgave us all our sins, having canceled the charge of our legal indebtedness, which stood against us and condemned us; he has taken it away, nailing it to the cross. And having disarmed the powers and authorities, he made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them by the cross.

Satan has already lost, so why is it that the children of God are the ones who feel defeated?

We have to access the victory in Prayer and practice, we need to be sober in our minds and diligent in our walk.

For some in this room and online today is the day to stand up and say no more to the stronghold of the ENEMY!

It is time to ask the Lord to give you a FOOTHOLD in the right direction, in HEALING, DELIVERANCE , RIGHTEOUSNESS and VICTORY!

Today is the DAY, any thinking that points to “some other time, place, occasion, etc is a battle of the MIND and there will NEVER be a BETTER time than NOW to square up and take advantage of the FOOTHOLD that God is about to GIVE you!

It is not a question of IF you are involved in SPIRITUAL BATTLE , but a matter of your awareness of Such...

When in doubt…ASK THE ONE WHO KNOWS

When you’re ready FIGHT IT SPIRITUALLY!

When you get a Foothold DON’T STOP!

Don’t forget to HELP and ENCOURAGE OTHERS!

Prepare for a SPIRITUAL “D DAY”!
