Righteous People Have Problems Too

Righteous People .Psalm 34:19 Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the LORD delivereth him out of them all.

To begin with Brothers and sisters, the writer of this great Psalm 34 text is David. The Lord showed me some potent, powerful, profound truths. Did you know that David wrote this acrostic psalms out of necessity. David is on the merry go round of life . David tells his story. He organizes his words to his song and I chose verse 19 in this acrostic psalm. “Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the LORD delivereth him out of them all. David was running from King Saul and Saul wanted to kill him. David ran so hard until he found himself in enemy territory. Somebody say Lord have mercy. And 1 Samuel 21 tells us that David runs to Achish king of Gath. But the king’s servant said king! Man I know you don’t realize ho you have here. King that’s King David the same one that beat and killed Goliath, and the famous song that been sung all over the land Saul had killed his thousand but David has killed his ten thousands. When David heard them say that David played crazy. He was in Gath in enemy territory. And David went to slobbing at the mouth, twitching and jumping and acting neurotic, acting like a crazy man the king said That man crazy,look how he acting,And they started to bring David into the king’s house and the king ahaah Stop Don’t bring him in here, you’ll see that man had gone stone crazy. Mental health is real. David acted like he didn’t even know his name and When a person’s mind snap it could be big trouble!!! And so they let David go.

And thus the birth of Psalms 34. Tragedies, Situation, circumstances, and conditions oftentimes are the canvas for great creative writings of hymns and secular songs. For example:Trouble don’t last always. How about the Lord will make a way somehow. How about Amazing Grace how sweet the sound, and then how about Psalms 34 I will bless the Lord at all times for He’s good. Quickly

1.Bless the Lord

Look at verses 1-3 Let’s talk about it. The bible says in verse 1. I will bless the LORD at all times: his praise shall continually be in my mouth. That means you ought to have the posture of Blessing God with a spirit of praise! Up! On! Your! Lips! Because the bible says Let everything that has breath praise the Lord.

Then in verse 2. My soul shall make her boast in the LORD: the humble shall hear thereof, and be glad. I’m going to brag on the Lord because I know that if it had not been for the Lord on my side I wouldn’t have made.

Then finally verse 3. O magnify the LORD with me, and let us exalt his name together. David is saying don’t make me lift up the name of the Lord by myself He say come on ya’ll O Magnify the Lord with me. Because when we begin to exalt God’s name that mean we ain’t got time to exalt our own name. Hallelujah! Then the text teaches talks and tells us in Point 2. To Seek The Lord.

Look at verses 4-8. 4 I sought the LORD, and he heard me, and delivered me from all my fears. 5 They looked unto him, and were lightened: and their faces were not ashamed. 6 This poor man cried, and the LORD heard him, and saved him out of all his troubles. 7 The angel of the LORD encampeth round about them that fear him, and delivereth them. 8 O taste and see that the LORD is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him.

1. In verse 4 David looks seeks and searches for God Wait David realized that he should ask the LORD for help, because my God will answer me and my God will save me from all that I feared. David was in trouble in Gath and God delivered him from his fears.

2. David says in verse 5 that People who go to God for help are happy, and they are never disgraced. David is testifying like this because that situation with king Achish in the land of Gath could have led to a disgraceful outcome. And how many times God have delivered us from disgraceful outcomes. Then 3. 6 This poor man cried, and the LORD heard him, and saved him out of all his troubles. 7 The angel of the LORD encampeth round about them that fear him, and delivereth them. David is saying that God is no respecter of persons because I may be poor but God still send angels to protect me and my family round about.

Ask your neighbor: Aren’t you glad that God encamp angel round about you to keep you safe. With all of the crazy stuff going on in this world today it’s nice to know that God is there all the time. And so David says 8 O taste and see that the LORD is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him. In other words “ It’s not let a man examine himself because it’s Communion Sunday no n o no!!! the bible says O taste and see that means Let’s Examine God. David said Examine God and see how good the LORD is and I bet you, you’ll be happy. And 1 Peter 2:3 quotes David by says if so be ye have tasted that the Lord is gracious.

Tell your neighbor: The Lord been good to me Come on give God a hand of praise.

Then Point 3. Fear the Lord

Brothers and sisters from the NCV of the bible the text says in verses 9-16

9.You who belong to the LORD, fear him! Those who fear him will have everything they need.

10  Even lions may get weak and hungry,but those who look to the LORD will have every good thing.

11  Children, come and listen to me.I will teach you to worship the LORD.

12  You must do these things to enjoy life and have many happy days.

13 You must not say evil things,and you must not tell lies.

14 Stop doing evil and do good, Look for peace and work for it.

15 The LORD sees the good people and listens to their prayers.

16 But the LORD is against those who do evil; he makes the world forget them.

Briefly let’s unpack this massive text. David is saying the main thing here is having respect for God. And let me say for the record if you don’t have respect for God I know you ain’t gon respect me. A man/woman that have respect for God isn’t going to act low down.In fact David said let me teach you how to live righteous and be in good graces with God. David says worship God. David says stop cooking up evil and telling lies David says God see and listen when righteous people pray. David says if you do evil stuff God is against you. Listen brothers and sisters when you’ve been to near a death experience like David had gone through, you get real serious about lining up with God. Because you know just how precious life is and how it could be cut short in an instance. I don’t want the Good Lord to catch me out there on the wrong side of history because you ever really know when God is coming to take you home. Yes indeed.

When Jesus healed the man at the pool of Bethesda after 38 years of waiting on God to trouble the water Jesus cut through all of that and said take up thy bed and walk that’s the miracle but then Jesus say Go and sin no more unless something worse come upon thee. Listen to me God healed me from Cancer and so I don’t go playing with fire thinking that I won’t get burned. I’m talking to somebody right now. This is the warning for you to make a change right now. This is the time to Trust The Lord. Tell your neighbor Trust the Lord. proverbs say Trust in the Lord with all thine heart and lean not to your own understanding but in all your ways acknowledge him and he shall direct your paths.

Trust The Lord Verses 17-22 and I’m through. 17 The righteous cry, and the LORD heareth, and delivereth them out of all their troubles. 18 The LORD is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit. 19 Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the LORD delivereth him out of them all. 20 He keepeth all his bones: not one of them is broken. 21 Evil shall slay the wicked: and they that hate the righteous shall be desolate. 22 The LORD David is saying 17  The LORD hears good people when they cry out to him. He knows what we are going through and God saves us from all of our troubles. 18 The LORD know if you have a broken heart because He’s a heart fixer and a mind regulator.

and he saves those whose spirits have been crushed 19 Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the LORD delivereth him out of them all.

We have afflictions and sometimes they can be numerous.But when I read this same text from a different translation I discovered that

19  People who do what is right may have many problems, but the LORD will solve them all. You can do a tons of righteous things but you’re still going to have some problems. And from the the text the writer David is saying in essence that some of those problems are going to be so big, so huge, so insurmountable until It’s going to take God too solve them. And I feel good about this because it takes me back to my roots, where grandma would say if I never had a problem I wouldn’t know that God could solve them.

My back has been against the wall… I know I didn’t do anybody anything but they gunning for me. And all I could say was Lord have Mercy. And then God spoke to me deep down in my spirit man and said Be still and know that I am God. Some of us have also had some Gehaziel moments where the bible says that the enemy king wanted Elijah dead because God kept giving Elijah the war strategies of the enemy and it saved Israel every time. So they surrounded Elijah’s home and the entire city. So the enemy had Elijah and his servant Gehazel said my lord we done for we toasted we’re a dead duck in the water. We can’t get out of this one. And the bible says that Elijah said Lord open his eyes so he can see the Awesome Power of the Almighty God. When Gehazel opened his eyes again God had sent Warring angels to protect the great prophet Elijah. And God had showed up for David as Jehovah And God will show up for us as our great protector. 19 Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the LORD delivereth him out of them all. We’re going to have some adversities, we’re going to have some serious obstacles,we’re going to have social injustices, we’re going to have some negative political posturing, we’re going to have Kakistocracies raising their ugly heads, we’re going to have some wolves in sheep clothes coming after us, We’re going to have some health, pelf and wealth disparities problems that attack our bodies but the Word of God says vividly that the Lord will deliver us out of them all.

The word of Power says that 20 God will protect their very bones; not one of them will be broken. The Lord is our protection

And then I read verse in kjv 21 Evil shall slay the wicked: and they that hate the righteous shall be desolate. I said Lord what does that mean? I’m looking at the text with a critical eye and through objective observation I discovered that Evil shall slay the wicked means that their own evil deeds will destroy them and sin is its own executioner. If we cut up and act a fool the text is saying be sure you know that your sins will find you out and execute judgement because of your actions. When I taught school II would always say their are rewards or their are consequences for your actions, but the choice is your.

The bible say to us Saints of God Righteous People have problems too but just make sure that you’re not causing problems that put you in a situation that you can’t recover from.

21  Evil will kill the wicked; those who hate good people will be judged guilty. The good Lord isn’t going to let the wicked go unpunished.

22 But the LORD saves his servants’ lives;no one who trusts him will be judged guilty.

In other words the Lord redeems the soul of his servants: and none of us that trust in him shall be desolate.

And so as I close the text told us to 1. To Bless the Lord, 2.To Seek the Lord, 3. To Fear the Lord, and 4. To Trust the Lord. I will Bless the Lord and His praises shall continually be in my mouth. because God’s been good to me, Have He been good to you
