Excellence in serving through Worship

Being Good Stewards: Excelling in Worship and Service
Introduction:
Our challenge is to be good stewards of the talents and gifts that God has entrusted to us.
Romans 12:1–2 “I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.”
As musicians and worship leaders, we have a unique opportunity to honor God and serve others through our music.
Psalm 100:4 “Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, And into His courts with praise. Be thankful to Him, and bless His name.”

Point 1: Worshiping with Skill

Scripture: Psalm 33:3, Psalm 150:3-6
Psalm 150:3–6 NKJV
3 Praise Him with the sound of the trumpet; Praise Him with the lute and harp! 4 Praise Him with the timbrel and dance; Praise Him with stringed instruments and flutes! 5 Praise Him with loud cymbals; Praise Him with clashing cymbals! 6 Let everything that has breath praise the Lord. Praise the Lord!
Psalm 33:3 NKJV
Sing to Him a new song; Play skillfully with a shout of joy.
The Bible encourages us to use our talents and abilities to worship God with our whole heart.
As musicians, this means committing ourselves to excellence in whatever musical skills we possess.
Whether it's playing an instrument, singing, or leading worship, let us strive to continuously develop and improve our skills.
By doing so, we bring our best to God's presence and create an atmosphere that glorifies Him.

Point 2: Singing with Joy

Scripture: Psalm 95:1-2, Colossians 3:16, Ephesians 5:19
Psalm 95:1–2 NKJV
1 Oh come, let us sing to the Lord! Let us shout joyfully to the Rock of our salvation. 2 Let us come before His presence with thanksgiving; Let us shout joyfully to Him with psalms.
Colossians 3:16 (NKJV)
Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.
Ephesians 5:19 NKJV
speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord,
Believers are encouraged to sing praises to God with joy and gratitude.
Our attitude and heart posture when making music should reflect our love for God and our desire to honor Him.
As a Worship Team, let's cultivate a spirit of joy and thankfulness in our rehearsals and ministration.
When we sing with joy, we inspire others to connect with God and experience His presence.

Point 3: Glorifying God

Scripture: 1 Corinthians 10:31
1 Corinthians 10:31 NKJV
31 Therefore, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.
The Bible teaches that whatever we do, including music, should be done to bring glory to God.
Our pursuit of excellence in musical expression reflects our commitment to honoring Him.
Let's remember that our music is not about us; it's about magnifying God's name and leading others into His presence.
When we strive for excellence, we demonstrate our dedication to glorifying God in everything we do.

Point 4: Serving Others

Scripture: 1 Peter 4:10-11
1 Peter 4:10–11 NKJV
As each one has received a gift, minister it to one another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God. If anyone speaks, let him speak as the oracles of God. If anyone ministers, let him do it as with the ability which God supplies, that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom belong the glory and the dominion forever and ever. Amen.
Mark 10:43–44 NKJV
Yet it shall not be so among you; but whoever desires to become great among you shall be your servant. And whoever of you desires to be first shall be slave of all.
The Bible instructs us to use our gifts to serve others. As musicians, we have the incredible opportunity to bless and uplift others through our music.
When we excel in our skills, we enhance the impact of our ministry.
Let's sacrificially offer our time, resources, and talents to serve our church and community.
Together, as a unified team, we can create an atmosphere where people encounter God and are transformed by His love.

Point 5: One Accord

Psalm 133:1-3 (NKJV)
Psalm 133:1–3 NKJV
1 Behold, how good and how pleasant it is For brethren to dwell together in unity! 2 It is like the precious oil upon the head, Running down on the beard, The beard of Aaron, Running down on the edge of his garments. 3 It is like the dew of Hermon, Descending upon the mountains of Zion; For there the Lord commanded the blessing— Life forevermore.
Colossians 3:8–18 (NKJV)
8 But now you yourselves are to put off all these: anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy language out of your mouth. 9 Do not lie to one another, since you have put off the old man with his deeds, 10 and have put on the new man who is renewed in knowledge according to the image of Him who created him, 11 where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcised nor uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave nor free, but Christ is all and in all.
12 Therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, put on tender mercies, kindness, humility, meekness, longsuffering; 13 bearing with one another, and forgiving one another, if anyone has a complaint against another; even as Christ forgave you, so you also must do. 14 But above all these things put on love, which is the bond of perfection. 15 And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body; and be thankful. 16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. 17 And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.
Unity brings the commanded blessing which is forevermore
Conclusion:
Let us embrace the call to be good stewards of our talents and gifts.
By worshiping with skill, singing with joy, glorifying God, and serving others, we can make a significant impact in the lives of those around us.
Let's commit ourselves to pursuing excellence in music as an expression of worship and service to God and others.
Together, let us bring glory to His name and lead His people into a deeper encounter with Him.
