Psalm 62:1–12 NASB 2020

My soul waits in silence for God alone; From Him comes my salvation. He alone is my rock and my salvation, My stronghold; I will not be greatly shaken. How long will you attack a man, That you may murder him, all of you, Like a leaning wall, like a tottering fence? They have planned only to thrust him down from his high position; They delight in falsehood; They bless with their mouth, But inwardly they curse. Selah My soul, wait in silence for God alone, For my hope is from Him. He alone is my rock and my salvation, My refuge; I will not be shaken. My salvation and my glory rest on God; The rock of my strength, my refuge is in God. Trust in Him at all times, you people; Pour out your hearts before Him; God is a refuge for us. Selah People of low standing are only breath, and people of rank are a lie; In the balances they go up. Together they are lighter than breath. Do not trust in oppression, And do not vainly rely on robbery; If wealth increases, do not set your heart on it. God has spoken once; Twice I have heard this: That power belongs to God; And faithfulness is Yours, Lord, For You reward a person according to his work.

Is YHWH Your strengthen and refuge that You are saved?

Author

All of The authors of the Psalms are unknown, we know that Moses wrote (1), David (73), Solomon (2), the sons of Korah (11, including one to which the name of Heman is also attached), Asaph (12), and Ethan (1) it is possible that others also wrote some of the Psalms, as well!!!!

The Author of Psalms 62 is David and He is writing to the Chief Musician Jeduthun!!!!

Date

The date of the Psalms covers from the Exodus, roughly 1300 BC through the return of the exiles, 586ish some 800 years.

We are not told the date of the Psalms or its occurence, other that it would appear that David is under attack and seeking refuge in YHWH.

History

This covers some of the major events in the Jewish History to vast to cover here.

The history of the Psalms is one of the many times David was under attack.

Structure

The Psalms, are songs, poems and hymns to praise and honor YHWH!!!!

There are (5) sections to the Psalms , which stands for The Broken, Rom 3:23, Rev 2:5, The Fallen, Gen 1:4-5, Rev 12:4-9, The Lost, Mat 18:10-14, Joh 10:27-30, The Sinner, Gen 6:16, 1 Ti 1:8-9, The Unbelieving, Luk 15:1-32, John 3:18 !!!!

It is very important to note. Psalms 62 has two refrain separated by a completely recapitulation verse. Psalms 62:2 and Psalms 62:6, This is the focus of the Psalms as everything is built around it. This Psalms is a praise to God for being our redeemer, our salvation. This also set up with 2-2-2, to verse of praise about salvation and two verse about judgement of those that do not believe followed by two verse of praise for salvation. Repeated 2-2-2. So we have 12 verses total for the twelve tribes of Israel or an all inclusive statement every one. With to refrains of 2-2-2 or directly pointing to the second God Head and that Salvation in only found in the God head of Father, Son and Holy Spirit, and us as the Church, with salvation coming through the second figure of the God head the Messiah or Jesus Christ. Wow!!! Is this not awesome and amazing. It is so beautiful when you really look deeply at and not just read it. But allow the Holy Spirit to reveal the Word of God to you.

Application

YHWH, I know and I believe You are my salvation, that You have redeemed me to be (1) in You. I know that You are my refuge my strong hold, and I am nothing with out you.

Guide me in Theophilus that I share this salvation message with all and all are redeemed and brought back to the Body of Christ Jesus, Amen !!!!
