Blessed Assurance
Blessed Assurance
Since we have the same spirit of faith according to what has been written, “I believed, and so I spoke,” we also believe, and so we also speak, knowing that he who raised the Lord Jesus will raise us also with Jesus and bring us with you into his presence. For it is all for your sake, so that as grace extends to more and more people it may increase thanksgiving, to the glory of God.
So we do not lose heart. Though our outer self is wasting away, our inner self is being renewed day by day. For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison, as we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen. For the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal.
For we know that if the tent that is our earthly home is destroyed, we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.
It is written: “I believed; therefore I have spoken.” Since we have that same spirit of faith, we also believe and therefore speak, because we know that the one who raised the Lord Jesus from the dead will also raise us with Jesus and present us with you to himself.
—> “Since we have that same spirit of faith, we also believe and therefore speak”
—> Confidence
—> Trust
For it is all for your sake, so that as grace extends to more and more people it may increase thanksgiving, to the glory of God.
—> The more we speak the grace of God into people’s lives the more glory God gets.
—> The more grateful and glad people are not to us but to God
Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all.
—> These bodies aren’t to keep us down
—> Don’t let our earthly bodies rob the joy of the Spirit that is inside of us.
—> The problems of this world are temporary
—> The joy and the glory that God gives is eternal.
So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.
For we know that if the earthly tent we live in is destroyed, we have a building from God, an eternal house in heaven, not built by human hands.
—> This speaks to why we have hope. This is our assurance in God.
—> God that is from everlasting to everlasting
—> We don’t put our hope in the things of this world and that includes us.
—> we are temporary
—> everything we are
—> everything we have
—> The only thing that lasts is what we have in God
—> The Holy Spirit that dwells in us
—> our faith that saves us
