Intro: This weeks theme is “burn the ships”. Now that may seem like a pretty silly thing to do. Some of you may be wondering why would anyone want to burn their boats.
The term Burn comes from a real life account
In the year 1519, Hernán Cortés arrived in the New World with six hundred men to conquer the aztecs and, upon arrival, made history by destroying his ships. This sent a clear message to his men: There is no turning back.
They would either be victorious or die trying. So in other words, A way of saying “ I’m all in” This week we are going to learn how we can also be “all in”
Tonight I would Like to start by telling you a story. This is the true story of Hudson Taylor.
Have any of you ever heard of Him before?
- one of the first missionaries to China.
tonight I will begin the story . In Each morning session, I will tell you a little bit more of the story of his life and we are going to see how he was “all in” for Jesus.
Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and reaching forward to what is ahead,
I pursue as my goal the prize promised by God’s heavenly call in Christ Jesus.
Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength.
