Discipline
excerpt from sermon by Pastor Shelley Burton “The Time is Now”
Kingdom Living Series
Discussion Topic:
“Discipline is not obedience to someone else standards to avoid punishment. It is learning and applying intentional standards to achieve meaningful objectives.”
Discipline means to instruct, correct, reprove (reproof), punish, educate, and/or train.
In her example of the statement above, she used the reference of dieting. We discipline ourselves with exercise and eating the proper foods to get to an objective. The objective can be health related or weight loss, however, you had to be intentional in order to be successful in your en-devour.
Obedience means to obey or hearing (in relationship between God and man)
In an article in Faithlife, this meaning gave a great meaning to her quote. “OBEDIENCE. As a branch of Christian ethics, obedience is to be viewed not only with respect to the relations existing between God and man and between man and society but also with respect to the example of Christ and man’s relation to Him”

Why do so many Christians have a hard time with a disciplined life and obedient life?
Parenting?
Jesus really cares about us in these areas of life principles. His Holy word is filled with living a disciplined and obedient life. We must do our part as believers to allow the Word to wash us and build us. We are His workmanship. He loves us so much that He paid the ultimate price for our sins. He was innocent.
