Hosea 10:12–13 “Sow to yourselves in righteousness, Reap in mercy; Break up your fallow ground: For it is time to seek the Lord, Till he come and rain righteousness upon you. Ye have plowed wickedness, ye have reaped iniquity; Ye have eaten the fruit of lies: Because thou didst trust in thy way, In the multitude of thy mighty men.”

Sow - is to plant.
Reap - is to gather in the harvest.
we sow to righteousness, we will reap in mercy
1. If we sow to righteousness, we will reap in mercy.
What are ways we can sow to righteousness?
Reading the scriptures, memorizing, praying, fasting, honoring our parents, being a doer of the Word and not just a hearer only…
vv13 it says “ye have plowed wickedness, ye have reaped iniquity,”
when we walk in the flesh, and not in the Spirit, we generally sow wickedness instead of righteousness.
when we sow to righteousness, we will reap in mercy.
2. and what is this word “mercy” talking about?
It’s the same word used in Psalms 107:1, It”s Gods faithful Love and Mercy He shows us. It’s Gods goodness, graciousness, love and kindness towards us!
Psalm 107:1“O give thanks unto the Lord, for he is good: For his mercy endureth for ever.”
3. It says break up your fallow ground.
what does this mean? How can we do this?
Break up - plow for the first time in a long time
Fallow ground - Soil that has been left unattended for some time. (Land was allowed to lie fallow that it might become more fruitful; but when in this condition, it soon became overgrown with thorns and weeds. The Cultivator was careful to “break up” his fallow ground. - to clear the field of weeds, before sowing seed.
Is there any areas of your life where you have let weeds and thorns grow up, and you haven’t cultivated the soil of your heart?
Sometimes in life we kinda just coast by, and go wherever life takes us. but I can tell you thats not a good place to be, if we just coast, we will generally slowly drift away from the Lord. and the soil of our hearts will become overgrown we weeds and thorns.
It is time to seek the Lord! It’s time to let the Lord have full control of our hearts. We need to start sowing to righteousness. and completely surrender our lives to Christ.
Beware of idleness. Satan sows most of his seed in fallow ground.
