Isaiah 29:11–16 (NET): 29:11 To you this entire prophetic revelation is like words in a sealed scroll. When they hand it to one who can read and say, “Read this,” he responds, “I can’t, because it is sealed.” 29:12 Or when they hand the scroll to one who can’t read and say, “Read this,” he says, “I can’t read.”
29:13 The sovereign master says,
“These people say they are loyal to me;
they say wonderful things about me,
but they are not really loyal to me.
Their worship consists of
nothing but man-made ritual.
29:14 Therefore I will again do an amazing thing for these people—
an absolutely extraordinary deed.
Wise men will have nothing to say,
the sages will have no explanations.”
29:15 Those who try to hide their plans from the Lord are as good as dead,
who do their work in secret and boast,
“Who sees us? Who knows what we’re doing?”
29:16 Your thinking is perverse!
Should the potter be regarded as clay?
Should the thing made say about its maker, “He didn’t make me”?
Or should the pottery say about the potter, “He doesn’t understand”?
As I consider the coming “Unified Methodist Church of North Texas,” I am horrified by the reality of what is happening there and in the town near where I live. The Methodist boat is willfully unmoored. Gone is the “method of Bible Study” for which it is named. The only method in its seminaries is in the destruction of confidence, no even basic interest, in the Bible. I have heard Methodist ministers at a pinnacle church celebrate destroying their parishioners use of the Bible and this was 25 years ago that I overheard the crowing of these ravens; these human mavens of philosophy.
Why did they gloat? They had sealed the scroll while pretending to be Christians. What was done in the dark of their seminaries was orchestrated in churches by ministers posturing, claiming loyalty to Christ and saying wonderful things about “Christ” and “God.” Yet the beings they reference are philosophical pottery unconnected to anything but human philosophy. These ministers work philosophical clay that never dries nor hardens into a lasting shape. It is this clay that that these ministers celebrated. Clay always available. Always malleable. Clay unattached to anything permanent. Clay used to blind parishioners. Clay that renders parishioners unable to read their Bibles.
Parishoners then easily become willfully adrift in human philosophy. Willfully adrift in this purported science of philosophy that is really just arrogant, untethered human speculation masquerading as wisdom. Parishioners parroting the evil fed to them by servants that humanly serve only the polity of the Unified Church.
Worship led by non-Christian ministers of empty ritual deceiving persons accepting lies as Gospel. Worship and sermons offering the wide path based in perverse thinking. Affirming lies such as the ministers who sit in an office reasoning ,“The Bible cannot describe God. I do. My perverse description reasoned into existence by denial is your only truth parishioner. Let me make this excellent!!”
In effect, this minister is correct when he says to himself, “I am your God.” This supremacy the pastoral speaker thinks in a deeply darkened mind. A mind and person destined for certain spiritual death; death from a millstone around his neck. The speaker, year after year, is God in effect by shaping the never drying, never hardening clay defining “God” to those that now are willfully sucking in lies confident that they, themselves, are the persons in the right, they are the only ones moral, they are the true believers. The Bible’s only value, in the parishioner’s darkened estimation, is for the deluded with reasoning skills too feeble to be enlightened by the lies called truth not Truth. As the Methodist Bishop pronounced repeatedly in 1996 “There is no Truth with a capital “T.” Any who believe in this Truth are elitists unwelcome in the Methodist Church. The church with the open pulpit!” This blind bishop could not see the irony.
“Should the thing made say about its maker, “He didn’t make me”?
Or should the pottery say about the potter, “He doesn’t understand”?
The Unified church says, “I am the potter! Because the Potter of the Bible doesn’t understand truth. I am the Potter!!”
Yet, the sealed scroll remains. An indictment from before time. Unanswerable by unified lies. An indictment gathering more and more persons in more and more pews.
Run parishioners to the Truth. Or run into the fire. Your choice. You’re accountable.
