Say: Let us now begin to worship the Father the Son, the Holy Spirit, Our Call to worship Comes to us from

Psalm 72:1 ESV
1 Give the king your justice, O God, and your righteousness to the royal son!

Text

Psalm 45 ESV
To the choirmaster: according to Lilies. A Maskil of the Sons of Korah; a love song. 1 My heart overflows with a pleasing theme; I address my verses to the king; my tongue is like the pen of a ready scribe. 2 You are the most handsome of the sons of men; grace is poured upon your lips; therefore God has blessed you forever. 3 Gird your sword on your thigh, O mighty one, in your splendor and majesty! 4 In your majesty ride out victoriously for the cause of truth and meekness and righteousness; let your right hand teach you awesome deeds! 5 Your arrows are sharp in the heart of the king’s enemies; the peoples fall under you. 6 Your throne, O God, is forever and ever. The scepter of your kingdom is a scepter of uprightness; 7 you have loved righteousness and hated wickedness. Therefore God, your God, has anointed you with the oil of gladness beyond your companions; 8 your robes are all fragrant with myrrh and aloes and cassia. From ivory palaces stringed instruments make you glad; 9 daughters of kings are among your ladies of honor; at your right hand stands the queen in gold of Ophir. 10 Hear, O daughter, and consider, and incline your ear: forget your people and your father’s house, 11 and the king will desire your beauty. Since he is your lord, bow to him. 12 The people of Tyre will seek your favor with gifts, the richest of the people. 13 All glorious is the princess in her chamber, with robes interwoven with gold. 14 In many-colored robes she is led to the king, with her virgin companions following behind her. 15 With joy and gladness they are led along as they enter the palace of the king. 16 In place of your fathers shall be your sons; you will make them princes in all the earth. 17 I will cause your name to be remembered in all generations; therefore nations will praise you forever and ever.

Today’s Text

Psalm 45:10–17 ESV

Enters the Queen at the wedding

We First had the king Enter and Now In your mind you must see the bride enter the sanctuary. She is beautiful and all the eyes are on her. Just like a princess who marry’s a king she become loyal heart and should to her husband. She becomes his, putting away everything prior and going to him. Let’s look at the text

Verse 10

Hear, Consider, Incline your ear. When anything is repeated in the Bible it is calling you to pay attention very clearly. Hebrew in particular is a language in which if an idea is repeated it’s grammar is one that it is calling you to listen. You see this in Genesis (explain).
So ladies if I understand your gender at all, I know that you’re thinking of a thousand things right now. (Expand Gently with humor) Your father in heaven has something to tell you.
This is true for all of us, sit up and listen. Faith comes from hearing.
“Forget your people and your father’s house.”
What is not being said, that your natural relationship with your family are broken, in marriage that changes, but your family isn’t destroyed.
As you have entered into King Jesus’s court you must forsake all other things.
In marriage you forsake all others for one another and this text is calling us all to do this.

Let my explain (Application)

In a real sense we are leaving Satan’s house, Satan's hold and entering Christ’s. So we must forsake the things of the world, of sin.
Spurgeon said this:
Forget also thine own people, and thy father's house. To renounce the world is not easy, but it must be done by all who are affianced to the Great King,
for a divided heart he cannot endure; it would be misery to the beloved one as well as dishonour to her Lord.
Evil acquaintances, and even those who are but neutral, must be forsaken, they can confer no benefits, they must inflict injury.
The house of our nativity is the house of sin—we were shapen in iniquity; the carnal mind is enmity against God, we must come forth of the house of fallen nature, for it is built in the City of Destruction.
The Scripture records this
Exodus 16:3 ESV
3 and the people of Israel said to them, “Would that we had died by the hand of the Lord in the land of Egypt, when we sat by the meat pots and ate bread to the full, for you have brought us out into this wilderness to kill this whole assembly with hunger.”
Many people are the same “If only we had more money, less debt, better looks, my kids behaved better, if only my husband listened,” “I wish, I had that” and so on. You’ve heard it, maybe in your honesty you’ve said the same. You’ve hungered for something that isn’t good. You mind goes to that place over and over again, your eyes look back.
Forsake your sins, the foods of Egypt were never good because they were slaves! In faith your life before hand, your sins, were never God, it was comfortable slavery to sin.
Walk out of your sin.
The king of kings is in your eye sight keep it focused on him. When the wicked and sinful desires bubble up, focus on the person of Christ. The union with him is better then the world. All the world does is use you up, but not Christ.
Remember Gen 2:23-24
Genesis 2:23–24 ESV
23 Then the man said, “This at last is bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man.” 24 Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.
Hold Fast to your God, leave thy sin behind!

Verse 11

Desires your beauty

Who do you give your beauty to? I always thought it odd that people will make themselves up for work, but sometimes not for their families.
Luke 12:34 ESV
34 For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.
What place is your treasure? God desires your beauty. The king calls for your beauty, will you take up the cross and give him your beauty?
What does this look like? Do you give him your best effort, do you give? Church is free but not cheap, I’ve been wrestling with the budget for a while now and I can tell you I feeling beat! th plate has been passed but always consider that this is getting harder to do because everything is getting more expensive.
In the realm of Family. Do you give them your beauty, or is your treasure elsewhere? When you get home are you checked out or are you stepping up for the second shift? Who get’s your beauty?
Your King desires it. If you give your best everywhere else, but to Christ, Christian let me ask you this: How is that working out for you? I’d imagine you’re tired. I’d imagine that you feel spread thin, I’d imagine you feel fruitless.
Put your life in the right order Give Jesus your beauty, your treasure and you will find you get everything else thrown in.
I want you to see this “The king will”
It is not a may, or perhaps, it is a will and so you must.
The idea of desire is also important - have you ever felt left out, you’re desired by your God. So not only must you, he seeks it.

Bow to him

Ephesians 5:23–24 ESV
23 For the husband is the head of the wife even as Christ is the head of the church, his body, and is himself its Savior. 24 Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit in everything to their husbands.
This is counter cultural for us in the modern West. In movies the keep creating the girl boss character, the Mary Sue who doesn’t need to change, improve, or repent. Woman are encouraged, sometimes, to get married but not become wives. It is this idea of submission that our world rejects. Forgoing your rights your freedoms are not allowed in fact it’s hated.
I would offer this to the women in the room, God has created you for your husband for your children.
When God brought Eve to Adam it was the first image of this
The world wants to drive you to focus on yourself, but God has made you else wise. You’re able to carry children, your body is designed to do that. You’re able to feed them, your thinking is which that you can keep several ideas in your mind at one time.
All of this is costly. The hours are long, it hurts, sin complicates the whole endeavor, and yet God has still created you this way.
You could strive to serve yourself, which is what our culture wants, a women to serve someone who isn’t her husband, her family, her saviour, to steal from you all that has been given to you and replace it with trinkets.
So your choice is who shall you bow to. Ladies you will bow to some master the question is who. I’d submit to you that to Christ and the things he loves is what you need above everything else.
This is true to us all btw, you will bow before someone, who shall that by will it be Christ or anything else?
Who can take care of you, who is a king? Who are you bowing before right now?
In the family your service to your husband and kids is faithfulness to Christ. Men this is true to you as well.

Verse 12

This verse is for us the church. When we seek to be obedient to God look what he does. This is not prosperity gospel, this is what god does for his bride the church. We as a church have been making cut after cut to be faithful. Working to live within our means. I’m learning that means truly living by faith.
But when we the church give Christ our beauty look what he does? Tyre was a heathen city and her people sought after the king. A faithful church will cause the world to seek after the King of kings
this reminds me of Romans 11:11
Romans 11:11 ESV
11 So I ask, did they stumble in order that they might fall? By no means! Rather, through their trespass salvation has come to the Gentiles, so as to make Israel jealous.
When we give, when we seek the purity of the church, when we seek to make sure the bride of Christ is beautiful the heathens will want to know who are king is. They will bring their riches to her.
Does the world seek to honor the church and know her king? I’d say in large no. Some of that is not our fault, but do we make known the treasure we hold? Do we make known the goodness of God?
You have the very true knowledge of eternal life, yet do those you love want it? Are they willing to get into your good graces to hear it?

Let me give you this tip as you share your faith

Romans 1:16 ESV
16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek.
Does your sharing, your living say otherwise? Can your loved one afford your shame? Is the devil ashamed of what he believes? June is proof that he isn’t ashamed. The church is so poor in reputation, in man power, in wealth because Christians act as cowards when The king of kings has given us everything.
Where do you stand? Your called to be zealous, look at the outcome. They come to us.
This is done not by bending to their desires but by living boldly for Christ. We don’t need to downgrade the message, but live boldly.

Verse 13

Psalm 45:13 KJV 1900
13 The king’s daughter is all glorious within: Her clothing is of wrought gold.
Psalm 45:13 ESV
13 All glorious is the princess in her chamber, with robes interwoven with gold.

13 The royal daughter is all glorious within the palace;

Her clothing is woven with gold.

This passage as you can see is different in these translations and they reflect what the hebrew word here can be saying given the context.
Spurgeon in his commentary broke it down like this..
Verse 13. The king's daughter is all glorious within. The meaning is, either
(1.) that her chief glory consisted in this, that she was admitted to such a familiar privacy with the king; or,
(2.) that when she sat in the inmost rooms of the king's palace, she was there in her greatest glory, because those rooms were most gorgeously set forth with all kinds of bravery and glorious furniture; or,
(3.) that she used to be gloriously attired, not only when she went abroad in public, but also when she stayed within, as being indeed adorned (which may be implied) only for the delight of the king, and not that others might gaze upon her; or,
(4.)—which I like best—that the inward virtues and endowments of her mind were her greatest ornament and glory
I’m going to follow him with this one. You are being made like Christ more and more each day as you submit to him and grow in him!
Philippians 1:6 ESV
6 And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.
In your mind as you see this beautiful wedding you see the bride meeting King Jesus, she is the church. She has been made fully righteous at the marriage feast at the end of time. She is perfect with glorious robes interwoven with gold.
You should take this as hope for you. Jesus will deliver you permanently from your besetting sins. Both in the future totally and today he will keep reforming you to look more and more like him.
You can change, you can become the person God wants you to be, and you will be. This is a promise, God doesn’t leave you where you are, he brings you to a new place. You may have already experinced this with how you live, you just can’t particpate in previous habits because God has laid in your heart the remove them. You may have in your heart to stop doing something, say you have a dirty mouth, a lazy spirit, an arrogance, you’re a person who checks out, Youy have to carry your cross and put to death a desire that you now know is wrong. That is God working in you.
This is not becoming more moral for it’s own sake, but you end up that way because you want more of Christ and less of your sin. You hate your sin, as Christ hates sin, and you love Christ more and more.
In my mind I see the scene in the Last battle by Lewis were all the children have been transformed to kings and queens adorned in the finest clothes. We shall all experience the same, and until that day have hope Christ isn’t done with you yet.

(Give the Gospel)

The children and the future
