The Word is Alive!
As I come forward at end of worship
SLIDE 1 “WELCOME”
Words from worship

Fresh summertime snacks or meals
The Word is like that - refreshing
Won’t make you heavy feeling or bloated
Sometimes makes folks sleepy .....not always a bad thing.....could just mean you have peace.....but hopefully today the Lord will help us see how the word is Alive and Active for us
SLIDE 2 THE WORD IS ALIVE!
Again as I say many times about the works of God....I just love being able to almost see or understand the mechanics of the Holy Spirit at work.......that’s The Word is Alive to me
I’ve been blessed to have done so many things.....may hobbies....when you first start you really do not know all the details so that you understand
In woodworking I am still learning after 35 plus years.....it helps so much being able to see the mechanics of how wood reacts and responds.....the courthouses opened up a whole new level to that
The first thing we have to recognize is that Jesus is the Word.....we cannot go another step forward without acknowledging that He is the Word.....almost a mystery right?

1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
2 He was in the beginning with God.
See what I mean about mystery…...close you eyes and just try to envision that
Pause and encouraging words for that .......
Now the next 2 verses

3 All things came into being through Him, and apart from Him nothing came into being that has come into being.
4 In Him was life, and the life was the Light of men.
These things right here come along with every time you and I take in the word
You see I mean about being that refreshing wonderful light meal to ingest....right?

So John 1 like really gets your attention.....its causes that pump the brakes.....slow down......wow did you see that?
Wonder what happened there?....right

The Word Commands Attention
Was gonna say “demands”....elaborate
There is a neat story to kind of kick us off on that......a story about Samuel
I love this and really helps us to see the .....so to speak mechanics of commanding attention
A little background here in 1 Samuel...........explain
SLIDE 7
1 Now the boy Samuel was ministering to the Lord before Eli. And word from the Lord was rare in those days, visions were infrequent.
2 It happened at that time as Eli was lying down in his place (now his eyesight had begun to grow dim and he could not see well),
3 and the lamp of God had not yet gone out, and Samuel was lying down in the temple of the Lord where the ark of God was,
4 that the Lord called Samuel; and he said, “Here I am.”
Now this is the Rhema word of God
Rhema - divine revelation (communications of God and of His mind)
Example ....the gospel revealed to you and I

5 Then he ran to Eli and said, “Here I am, for you called me.” But he said, “I did not call, lie down again.” So he went and lay down.
6 The Lord called yet again, “Samuel!” So Samuel arose and went to Eli and said, “Here I am, for you called me.” But he answered, “I did not call, my son, lie down again.”
7 Now Samuel did not yet know the Lord, nor had the word of the Lord yet been revealed to him.

8 So the Lord called Samuel again for the third time. And he arose and went to Eli and said, “Here I am, for you called me.” Then Eli discerned that the Lord was calling the boy.
9 And Eli said to Samuel, “Go lie down, and it shall be if He calls you, that you shall say, ‘Speak, Lord, for Your servant is listening.’ ” So Samuel went and lay down in his place.
10 Then the Lord came and stood and called as at other times, “Samuel! Samuel!” And Samuel said, “Speak, for Your servant is listening.”
Let me say this.......if the Lord has commanded your attention.....you 90% there to getting the revelation of His word.....the revelation I mean the part that comes alive to you.....sets up[ the change in your heart......that refreshing new start.....that atta boy, I’m with you.. from the Lord

12 For the word of God is living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart.

2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect.

Remember our story with Samuel........
The Lord got Samuel’s attention
The Lord transformed Samuel from just a boy to a prophet.....by the Word......the spoken Word
The Samuel.....called by God.... took action

19 Thus Samuel grew and the Lord was with him and let none of his words fail.
20 All Israel from Dan even to Beersheba knew that Samuel was confirmed as a prophet of the Lord.
21 And the Lord appeared again at Shiloh, because the Lord revealed Himself to Samuel at Shiloh by the word of the Lord.

13 Therefore, prepare your minds for action, keep sober in spirit, fix your hope completely on the grace to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ.
WORSHIP TEAM COME UP
You and I not only have the grace of God through His Son Jesus but we get to partake in the mysteries of God

Mystery
Mystery, in Scripture, refers to the understanding of formerly hidden knowledge that was revealed by God to his people. Aspects of God’s mysterious working in the world are now understood or comprehensible to the people of God.
Just as this says in 1 Peter
All starting when He commands attention on our behalf.....thru His Word
See this happening next time in His Word!.........all the business and distractions of the world now He commands attention over all those things....He does that
Then you and I called by God.....get transformed....you and I are touched by the living word and take action
We get to participate in a mystery of God when that happens

7 but we speak God’s wisdom in a mystery, the hidden wisdom which God predestined before the ages to our glory;
