Bless means to make happy
to bring delight to the heart of God
All that is within me - we worship with our entire beings
Entertainment versus worship (we want to feel good… the delight is inward.. we worship God — it is outward, we bring delight to God’s heart)
24 God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.”
We cannot truly worship God without truth.
Truth of how perfectly holy, How He is perfectly Good, How He is perfectly loving.
We come to Him with the right doctrine. The songs themselves speak of doctrine (talk)
I love it when corporately, we give God extravagant worship..
But when we are alone, we humble ourselves before Him in personal worship
Humbly come to God in celebration of Him..
we can start our day doing this..
How do we humbly celebrate God?
We celebrate God for Who He is and what He has done.
We celebrate God for our redemption.
We celebrate God for his faithful provision.
1. We celebrate God for Who He is and what He has done.
1 Bless the Lord, O my soul; And all that is within me, bless His holy name!
Talk to your soul.. when discouraged.. Psalm 43 why so downcast..
“Hey what am I doing? You are not supposed to…
All that is within me - bless His holy Name.. our entire beings.. (talk about worship at Mission Camp, encourage parents to come— it is a boot camp)
we just sang about the holiness of God - He is perfect in all His ways.
We praise God for what Jesus has done and the access we have to God but let us not forget..
God is holy! Do not lose that reverence for God.
16 because it is written, “Be holy, for I am holy.”
15 But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts, and always be ready to give a defense to everyone who asks you a reason for the hope that is in you, with meekness and fear;
Sanctify the Lord God in our hearts - set apart, set our allegiance to Jesus alone.
The context of this is trials and tribulations..
I have two verses:
18 For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.
17 For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, is working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory,
Do not be ashamed, do not fear.. be ready to give a defense to everyone who asks you a reason..
15 but in your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect,
We celebrate God for what He has done!
2 Bless the Lord, O my soul, And forget not all His benefits:
What are these benefits:
3 Who forgives all your iniquities, Who heals all your diseases,
This are benefits (what He has already given) of the child of God?
an ongoing process, forgiveness (1 John 1:9) in our sanctification..
forgives all our iniquities, I can be theological, what is an iniquity, transgression - simply sin!
9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
Who “heals all your diseases” — ALL
In Exodus 15 - He alone can heal, only God heals (healing cannot be done by anyone it cannot be faked by Satan)
What about doctors? that too came from God..
My story of sickness beginning of the week.. thank God for the mucus, God’s design of the body to heal.. thank God for the mucus!
2. We celebrate God for our redemption!
4 Who redeems your life from destruction, Who crowns you with lovingkindness and tender mercies,
redeems your life from destruction — what destruction?
“Why would a loving God send people to hell”?
Question is loaded - the word “send”
We were already bound to hell.. Jesus rescued us, He caught us on the way to hell!
“Who crowns you with lovingkindness and tender mercies”
you are loved in Christ — you are part of the beloved.
6 to the praise of the glory of His grace, by which He made us accepted in the Beloved.
and his tender mercies.. we should never forget to thank God for His mercy..
this keeps us humble, less judgemental, because we remember we were like them..
1 And you He made alive, who were dead in trespasses and sins, 2 in which you once walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit who now works in the sons of disobedience,
3 among whom also we all once conducted ourselves in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, just as the others.
4 But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, 5 even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved),
6 and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, 7 that in the ages to come He might show the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.
8 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, 9 not of works, lest anyone should boast.
We must remain humble before God, thank Him for your salvation
Nothing to boast before Him
3. We celebrate God for His faithful provision.
5 Who satisfies your mouth with good things, So that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.
He provides for all our needs
17 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning.
God is good. He is faithful.
11 For the Lord God is a sun and shield; The Lord will give grace and glory; No good thing will He withhold From those who walk uprightly.
Your youth is renewed like the eagles. Never too late.
“Life begins at 50”, “Age does not matter”
Exploits at any age. You can always be at your prime in serving God - He will surprise you!
Wait on the Lord.. Jesus is returning soon and He will give us perfect bodies, but in the meantime..
31 But those who wait on the Lord Shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, They shall run and not be weary, They shall walk and not faint.
Pray for salvation, healing.
