READING GOD’S WORD

Different dimensions

GOD IS A GOD OF COMMUNICATION AND WORDS

God still speaks. Heb 4:12.
Living & active - Word
2 Tim 3:16-17.
Word of God is not a dead Word. It is relevant for today.
Eph 6: it is the sword of the Spirit.
It’s sharp on both ends. It cuts through muscles. It judges the thoughts. He is still speaking. Throughout history he has been speaking through the written Word.
Written Word and Incarnate word(Jesus). Hebrews 1:1.
Job 33:14. God speaks…it.
Many times people are clueless. This conflict, illness…whatever he communicates.
Each of us should have a desire to hear from God. We need to listen to God from His Word. God would use the Word and apart from the Word. I am going to validate the circumstances through the Scripture. He is guiding us personally and intimately through His Word.
bIBLE IS gOD’S OWN wORD TO US.
Reading/Studying/memorizing can help us to deepen our friendship with God and others.
John 8:31-32. JOhn 14: Abiding in Christ and His Word abiding in us.
The evil one has strategies to keep us from reading God’s Word.
Paul tells us to put on the whole armor of God…

The Armor of God

10 Finally, abe strong in the Lord and in bthe might of His strength.

11 aPut on the full armor of God, so that you will be able to stand firm against the bschemes of the devil.

The enemy will always fight you from reading the Word of God.
It will be unfortunate that you are too busy in the ministry and you set aside Bible reading meditation, etc.
Col. says “ Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly.
Legacy Standard Bible (CHAPTER 3)
16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, with all wisdom teaching and admonishing one another with psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with gratefulness in your hearts to God.
You will spill out out of your abundance of wisdom from God’s Word.

READING

Continuing in God’s Word. Put in deposit on the bank of your heart.
Reading means saturation. Let the Word completely flood our heart.
Ps 119:105.
Legacy Standard Bible (PSALM 119)
105 Your word is a lamp to my feet
And a light to my path.
Corporate discipline
1 Tim 4:13.
Legacy Standard Bible (CHAPTER 4)
13 Until I come, give attention to the public breading of Scripture, to exhortation and teaching.
(Beginning of the year the church reading through the Bible)
(McShane’s Bible reading plan: Died 39 years old. 3 months before his death he gave to his church.)
ONE METHOD
3 QNS- PSAL 13
7 QNS -PS 1.
Consider three questions as you read.
1.What speaks to my heart? Be specific. Don’t say all verses are speaking to me. specific word, specific need, challenge, struggle in your life.draw, write sth their, may be little heart.
2.What new thought or idea comes to your heart? I draw a light ball. I am in the dark and the light is turned on. New idea or thoughts.
3.What does the Scripture move me to do action?
Hand is the picture. Hand represent doing. How I will choose to do what God speaks to y heart.
What speaks to my heart?
SECOND METHOD
Psalm 1 LSB
How blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked, Nor stand in the way of sinners, Nor sit in the seat of scoffers! But his delight is in the law of Yahweh, And in His law he meditates day and night. And he will be like a tree firmly planted by streams of water, Which yields its fruit in its season And its leaf does not wither; And in whatever he does, he prospers. The wicked are not so, But they are like chaff which the wind drives away. Therefore the wicked will not rise in the judgment, Nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous. For Yahweh knows the way of the righteous, But the way of the wicked will perish.
7 Application questions
1.Is there an example here for me to follow?
2.Is there a promise to claim?
3.Is there a command to obey?
4.Is there a truth to be applied?
5.Is there a prayer for me to pray?
6.Is there a sin to be confessed or avoided?
7.Is there a question that God is asking me?
If we want to be happy we don’t listen to the wicked.
we don’t listen to their counsel, taking our seat with them and their practice.
Things that we should do.
