Today, as we look at these texts on how Jesus treats the hypocritical leadership of the Scribes and Pharisees of his time, we will see three way by which we may identify these kinds of blind guides. Hypocritical leaders:
Are offended by Scriptural Truth, especially when it steps on their traditions and opinions.
They allow their own hearts to be the standard by which God’s truth is accepted to denied, rather than submitting to the way God has chosen to reveal himself.
They influence others to think and act as they do, particularly they drive their listeners to pay attention to outward displays of religion rather than holiness in their conscience and in their heart.
Hypocrites Offended by Truth (15:12-14)
Hypocrites Judge Signs by Their Own Evil Hearts
Hypocrites Influence Others Towards Hypocrisy by Emphasizing Outward Rather than Inward Realities
Conclusion: The Hypocrite is Infected with Unbelief
