God night all of you, the Gospel that we are reading today has two ways to apply, first in general, second to particular.
First is addressing this parable to the Jews, they are the vineyard, dwelling in the walled city of Jerusalem, the tower is the temple, the tenants are the Israel’s leaders stationed in the city. The servants are the OT prophets repeatedly sent by God to call for repentance. Many of them were killed. And lastly God send his son, whom they also killed.
God avenge the killing of his son destroying the unfaithful city, we can see today in the Arch of Titus, the Jews as slaves caring the remnants of the temple.
But also, this parable is addressing for each of us, God give a vineyard, as Catherine of sienna says:
I write to you with the desire to see you true tenants in the vineyard of your souls, so that at harvest time you may bear much fruit. Know that the Eternal Truth... He made us a vineyard, in which He willed and wants to dwell by grace, provided that the farmer of this vineyard wants to cultivate it uprightly and honestly." [1]
We are the tenants, and God send his Son.
We kill the son when we commit a sin and expel him out of our soul.
God has patient, but if we do no change, one day he will come to destroy us, because we were unable to recognize the time of his visitation.
How we are cultivating our vineyard, what things we are sowing?
The things that we are putting it the things that we must cultivate.
