Genesis 9:12–16 “And God said, This is the token of the covenant which I make between me and you and every living creature that is with you, for perpetual generations: I do set my bow in the cloud, and it shall be for a token of a covenant between me and the earth. And it shall come to pass, when I bring a cloud over the earth, that the bow shall be seen in the cloud:
And I will remember my covenant, which is between me and you and every living creature of all flesh; and the waters shall no more become a flood to destroy all flesh. And the bow shall be in the cloud; and I will look upon it, that I may remember the everlasting covenant between God and every living creature of all flesh that is upon the earth.”
Have you ever seen a duel in an old movie? May 30, 1806 Andrew Jackson & Charles Dickinson
Today, there is a different kind of duel taking place. It is a duel between rainbows.
1. Man’s Rainbow.
1. Man’s Rainbow.
We are seeing many manmade rainbows this month as part of gay pride month. Supporters of the LGBTQ community started waving this rainbow of theirs in 1978. It was a rainbow made by man. It is not God’s rainbow.
There are several things wrong with man’s rainbow, the gay pride flag.
A. 6 is the color of man’s sinfulness.
A. 6 is the color of man’s sinfulness.
The gay pride rainbow has 6 colors. Six is the number of man.
6 is the number of man’s failure to obtain perfection because of sin.
Let me show you how 6 and man are intertwined in imperfection.
Man was created on the 6th day.
The darkness of the cross began at the 6th hour.
Goliath was 6 cubits tall.
Nebuchadnezzar’s statue was 60 cubits high and 6 cubits broad.
The number of the Antichrist is 666.
6 represents man and his sinfulness and failure. The 6 colors of the gay pride rainbow represent man’s failure to attain what God demands. On its own, 6 can never be seven. The six colors of man’s rainbow reflect the abject failure of man in changing what God has said.
B. Homosexuality is an abomination before God.
B. Homosexuality is an abomination before God.
Homosexuality is fruit of ungodliness.
Leviticus 18:22 “Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination.”
It does not matter what society says. Homosexuality, lesbianism, and transgenderism are outward proofs that God has been rejected.
Romans 1:21–22 “Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened. Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools,”
Romans 1:26–27 “For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.”
I cannot sugarcoat this.
A homosexual lifestyle is outward proof of rejecting God. It is a lifestyle that results from a person rejecting what he or she knows to be true about God.
I want you to pay careful attention to those verses in Romans. Verses 26 and 27 are the results and the cause is found in verses 21 and 22. It is that simple. God does not create homosexuals, lesbians, nor transgenders. Choosing that lifestyle arises from rejecting God.
This current acceptance of homosexuality will not impact Billy Binkley, Donald Williams, or Marty Goff, but the Ali-Kate’s and Kaitlyn’s of this church are constantly bombarded with accepting that sinful lifestyle as being normal behavior. Well, it is not normal; it is abnormally ungodly behavior.
Listen children and young people. God does not create homosexuals. Same-sex tendency arise from man’s willful choice to do what is ungodly before God, and I do not care what Oprah, Hollywood, and the political establishment says about it.
As sinful as this lifestyle is, and as ungodly as it is, as Christians we need to realize that it is not our job to condemn. Yes, we judge the sin as being ungodly, but we need to remember this. Homosexuals can be saved, and you and I have an obligation to reach out to them in love and share the gospel.
I am telling you, however, a person engaged in the “alternate” lifestyle quickly draws to the point where God leaves that person to his or her own desires.
C. Pride leads to an eternal fall.
C. Pride leads to an eternal fall.
Gay Pride!!!! What an ironic slogan!!!!
Do you know what the Bible says about pride? Prov. 11:2, Prov. 16:5, Prov. 8:13.
Proverbs 11:2 “When pride cometh, then cometh shame: But with the lowly is wisdom.”
Proverbs 16:5 “Every one that is proud in heart is an abomination to the Lord: Though hand join in hand, he shall not be unpunished.”
Proverbs 8:13 “The fear of the Lord is to hate evil: Pride, and arrogancy, and the evil way, And the froward mouth, do I hate.”
Do you notice that little phrase, “pride, and arrogancy, and the evil way, and the froward mouth, do I hate.”
What do you think it means when God hates someone? It means that God has given them up to their desires, to their sins.
Supporters of homosexuality call it gay pride. God calls pride an abomination.
Pride cannot be spelled without I in the middle. Pride enthrones self and dethrones God. Pride is hated by God. When a person says gay pride, I cannot possibly understate how blasphemous that person is .
Pride says that I know more than God. Pride is the sin that sank Sodom.
Ezekiel 16:49–50 “Behold, this was the iniquity of thy sister Sodom, pride, fulness of bread, and abundance of idleness was in her and in her daughters, neither did she strengthen the hand of the poor and needy. And they were haughty, and committed abomination before me: therefore I took them away as I saw good.”
Do you find it ironic that God lists pride at the top of the list of Sodom’s sins?
Proverbs 16:18 “Pride goeth before destruction, And an haughty spirit before a fall.”
If you look at the passages in Ezekiel and Prov. Ch. 16 side-by-side, you see that pride goes before destruction and a haughty spirit before a fall.
Do you know what haughty means in the Bible? It means to consider oneself above others and above God. Sodom’s pride led to haughtiness which led to a hatred of God and to a pursuit of an abominable lifestyle.
Sodom was a very wealthy, metropolitan, and elite society. That’s why Lot chose to go there. In our nation, most of the gay pride agenda has mushroomed because of the elite and wealthy accepting it and pushing it. They, like Sodom, have placed themselves above God.
I am so thankful that I do not live in a metropolitan area, and I am glad I do not have a child getting ready to go to college. I am so thankful for young men like John Mark who are grounded in the faith. John Mark is not going to be led astray be elite doctrine because he is grounded in Jesus Christ, but there are so many who will fall for the evil agendas of the elite universities.
You may think I am blowing smoke this morning, but your child’s eternal destiny could be hanging in the balance. It is something I know Kelly and several others take seriously. Kelly is attempting to raise her children godly, to ground them in the faith. It is the only way they can survive the attacks by the world.
Listen to me boys and girls and young adults.
God’s plan was established in the very beginning.
Genesis 2:21–24 “And the Lord God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept: and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof; And the rib, which the Lord God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man.
And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man. Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.”
It was God’s plan for one man to be with one woman. Can I ask you a question?
Who and what was on Noah’s Ark?
Noah and his wife
Noah’s sons and their wives
Two of every kind of animal
Why?
Genesis 9:1 “And God blessed Noah and his sons, and said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth.”
They were to multiply and replenish the earth. I don’t have time to get into it, but abortion has robbed this planet of many blessings from God. What we see today with man’s rainbow is a total dismissal of God’s design, but praise God because He has a rainbow too.
Man’s rainbow leads to hell. There is no other way to say it. I cannot sugarcoat it.
If you are having homosexual thoughts, those thoughts are not coming from God. Satan is tempting you with that ungodly lifestyle.
If you are saved, the Holy Spirit will protect you from that lifestyle. “Well, Jimmy, how do you know that?” I know that because I know what the Bible says.
1 Corinthians 10:13 “There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.”
Paul wrote this to the Church at Corinth. Why? Because Christians inside the church were having trouble with sins of sexual immorality, and Paul wrote to tell them how they could overcome those sins.
Take homosexuality out of the equation for a minute. Listen Jasmine, Kaitlyn, Ali-Kate, Lexi, Allasyn, and other young ladies here. You are getting to an age where you are going to cave into what society says regarding sex and sexual relations, but you do not have to cave into those pressures because all of you have made professions of faith, and the Holy Spirit will make a way for you to get out of that situation.
I really believe this. Every person has that right person out there that God is waiting to give him or her. It is a matter of seeking God’s will and honoring God’s plan of one woman for one man.
If you are lost this morning, there is no protection for you, and if you continue rejecting Jesus Christ, God will eventually give you over to your sinful desires because of your pride and haughtiness. If that happens, there is no telling where those desires will take you.
Come to Jesus today before it is too late. It is easy as ABC.
Admit that you are a sinner.
Believe in Jesus Christ as the Son of God who died for your sins and was resurrected the third day.
Confess that Jesus Christ is Lord before man and the world.
2. God’s Rainbow.
2. God’s Rainbow.
To duel, you must have two combatants. This morning we looked at man’s rainbow, and tonight we are going to look at God’s rainbow.
Man’s rainbow has 6 colors. God’s rainbow has 7 colors.
7 in the Bible symbolizes perfection, completeness, and fullness. It is perfection made possible by God.
Seven is the PERFECT Word of God.
Do you remember why God placed His rainbow in the sky? Gen. 9:11-13.
Genesis 9:11–13 “And I will establish my covenant with you; neither shall all flesh be cut off any more by the waters of a flood; neither shall there any more be a flood to destroy the earth.
And God said, This is the token of the covenant which I make between me and you and every living creature that is with you, for perpetual generations: I do set my bow in the cloud, and it shall be for a token of a covenant between me and the earth.”
Every time you see a rainbow in the sky it is a reminder of God’s promise of life to Noah. Man’s rainbow brings death. God’s rainbow promises life.
Just think about when rainbows appear. The most beautiful rainbows appear after the worst storms.
Dear friend, if I may, can I make a supposition about God’s Word?
There have probably been many times since Noah’s days that God wanted to destroy earth because of sinfulness but each time, God placed a rainbow in the sky to remind us of His promise.
2 Peter 3:9 “The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.”
God’s rainbow is the promise that He is not going to deviate from His plan, though warranted, because He is not willing that any perish but that all come to repentance. AMEN and AMEN and AMEN!!!!!
Even as future’s tribulation judgment is being poured out, God’s desire is for man’s repentance, and millions will repent, but most will refuse to repent regardless of the storms God sends.
Now, I believe there are no details about the rainbow that are insignificant.
A. The rainbow is a sign of God’s covenant.
A. The rainbow is a sign of God’s covenant.
The real rainbow is a visual reminder of a promise, a covenant, that only God can make.
Only God can make unconditional covenants.
In the Old Testament, we can find at least 3 unconditional covenants.
God and Noah (Sealed by God’s Word)
God and Abraham (Sealed by the Promised One)
God and David (Sealed by the Eternal One)
All of God’s unconditional covenants are made possible by Jesus Christ.
B. The colors of the rainbow symbolize how God keeps His covenant.
B. The colors of the rainbow symbolize how God keeps His covenant.
Let’s look at the 7 colors of the rainbow.
1. Red
1. Red
Red symbolizes the blood of Christ and redemption.
God’s promise not to destroy every living thing again is insured by the blood of Christ, and every Christian in this building should have shouted AMEN when I said that.
Yes, the earth is going to be judged, but those insured by the blood of Jesus will not be. The blood of Jesus will redeem us. He has bought us. We are His purchased possession.
Ephesians 1:13–14 “In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise, Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.”
I absolutely love proving an Old Testament promise with a New Testament assurance. The red in God’s rainbow representing the blood of Christ tells the Christian that he or she will not be judged because the Christian has been purchased.
Dear friend, and I do not want to sound arrogant, and I will not argue about it, I am as sure of pre-tribulation Rapture as I possibly could be. It will be for Christ’s glory as Eph. Chap 1 says, that I do not go through the judgment of the Tribulation.
2. Orange
2. Orange
Orange symbolizes the glory of God, His judgment, and eternal nature.
Ezekiel 1:4 “And I looked, and, behold, a whirlwind came out of the north, a great cloud, and a fire infolding itself, and a brightness was about it, and out of the midst thereof as the colour of amber (orange), out of the midst of the fire.”
Only an Eternal God can make an eternal covenant, and only an eternal God can judge eternally.
Revelation 1:14–16 “His head and his hairs were white like wool, as white as snow; and his eyes were as a flame of fire; And his feet like unto fine brass, as if they burned in a furnace; and his voice as the sound of many waters. And he had in his right hand seven stars: and out of his mouth went a sharp twoedged sword: and his countenance was as the sun shineth in his strength.”
3. Yellow (Gold)
3. Yellow (Gold)
Yellow (Gold) symbolizes God’s sovereignty.
Philippians 2:10–11 “That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.”
Do you know what those spouting and supporting the gay agenda are going to do one of these days? They are going to bow the knee to the One they placed themselves above in their pride and haughtiness.
4. Green
4. Green
Green symbolizes life and a new beginning.
Revelation 4:3 “And he that sat was to look upon like a jasper and a sardine stone: and there was a rainbow round about the throne, in sight like unto an emerald.”
2 Corinthians 5:17 “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.”
The green in the rainbow symbolizes the new life we have in Jesus Christ. Green is the color of our rebirth, and that’s what every person caught up in the lies of the LGBTQ community needs, a rebirth.
5. Blue
5. Blue
Blue symbolizes God’s healing grace.
Genesis 6:8 “But Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord.”
Noah’s grace was found in the eyes of the Lord. An absolutely incredible statement. It was not Noah that deserved to be saved, but he “found” grace in the Lord.
Dear friend, in the same way, my grace is found in my faith in Jesus Christ.
Ephesians 2:8 “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:”
Just as God’s grace was a gift to Noah, so is my grace a gift of God. It is a gift of God based upon my faith in Jesus Christ.
6. Indigo
6. Indigo
Indigo symbolizes God’s holiness and His communication with man.
Isaiah 6:3 “And one cried unto another, and said, Holy, holy, holy, is the Lord of hosts: The whole earth is full of his glory.”
Above all else, God is holy. A holy God and a sinful man have no relationship, no communication, but Jesus Christ and His holiness makes a relationship and communication possible.
Hebrews 7:25 “Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them.”
John 14:13–14 “And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.”
Communication with the Father is made possible by the Son.
7. Violet/Purple
7. Violet/Purple
Purple symbolizes royalty, priesthood, and majesty.
John 19:2 “And the soldiers platted a crown of thorns, and put it on his head, and they put on him a purple robe,”
The Roman soldiers were mocking Jesus, but, unknowingly, they were really proclaiming His majesty. It is Jesus Christ, not Caesar, who is King of Kings.
Revelation 19:11–16 “And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war. His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns; and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he himself. And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God.
And the armies which were in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean. And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God. And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.”
Zechariah 6:12–13 “And speak unto him, saying, Thus speaketh the Lord of hosts, saying, Behold the man whose name is The BRANCH; And he shall grow up out of his place, And he shall build the temple of the Lord: Even he shall build the temple of the Lord; And he shall bear the glory, And shall sit and rule upon his throne; And he shall be a priest upon his throne: And the counsel of peace shall be between them both.”
Who is THE BRANCH? Jesus Christ. He is the majestic King of Kings.
3. Conclusion
3. Conclusion
Man’s rainbow is leading millions to hell. It is Satan’s attempt to distort God’s Word and to deceive.
Christians need to reach out in love, not to condone the sin and not to condemn the person, but to share the Gospel. What every homosexual needs is to be born again to a new life, a life made possible by Jesus Christ.
Why did the Lord lead me to preach this message today?
I am 58, and the abomination of the gay pride rainbow and agenda is not going to affect me very much, but Ali, Kaitlyn, Lexi, Madilyn, Jasmine, Logan, Joey-Mac, Roy, Gunner, Jaxxon, Liam, Will, Olivia, Noah, Griffin, Kamrie, Emma, Carlee, Kassie, Allasyn, and Maddie will face those lies and that agenda every single day, and we owe it to them to teach the truth, not in condemnation but in love.
Those young ones are the ones who can change the narrative in the world by letting Jesus Christ use them, and it is job and responsibility of this church to equip them to stand strong with the Lord in the world. They need to be grounded in the truth.
The truth is that no one is born a homosexual. Homosexuality is a choice. It is a sin before God as is all sexual immorality, but the truth is that no sinner is so great a sinner that he or she cannot be saved.
To be saved, a person must:
Admit that you are a sinner.
Believe in Jesus Christ as the Son of God who died for your sins and was resurrected the third day.
Confess that Jesus Christ is Lord before man and the world.
