INTRODUCTION:

Today, we gather to reflect on a profound journey—a journey of faith, perseverance, and promise. The story of crossing the Jordan into the promised land is not just a historical event but a timeless allegory for our spiritual journey through life. As we prepare to cross our own metaphorical Jordans, let us draw wisdom from the experiences of those who have gone before us.
In the book of Joshua, we find the Israelites standing on the banks of the Jordan River, poised to enter the land that God had promised to them. It was a land flowing with milk and honey, a land of abundance and blessing. But before they could claim their inheritance, they had to take a bold step of faith.
Similarly, each of us faces our own Jordans—the challenges, uncertainties, and obstacles that stand between us and God's promises for our lives. Perhaps it's a career change, a health crisis, a strained relationship, or a spiritual wilderness. Whatever it may be, God calls us to step out in faith, trusting in His provision and guidance.
First and foremost, we must prepare our hearts. The journey into the promised land begins with a heart surrendered to God. Just as Joshua commanded the people, "Consecrate yourselves, for tomorrow the Lord will do amazing things among you" (Joshua 3:5). We must rid ourselves of any doubts, fears, or idols that hinder our trust in God.
Secondly, we must seek God's guidance. Joshua sent spies to scout out the land and discern the best way forward. In our own lives, we need the wisdom of God to navigate the challenges ahead. Through prayer, meditation on Scripture, and seeking counsel from fellow believers, we can discern God's will for our lives.
Thirdly, we must trust in God's promises. Just as God assured Joshua, "I will be with you; I will never leave you nor forsake you" (Joshua 1:5), we can rest assured that God is faithful to His word. Even when the waters of our Jordan seem insurmountable, God will make a way where there seems to be no way.
Finally, we must step out in faith. When the priests carrying the ark of the covenant stepped into the waters of the Jordan, it was only then that the waters parted, allowing the Israelites to cross on dry ground. Likewise, our faith must be accompanied by action. We cannot expect God to move on our behalf if we are not willing to take that first step of obedience.
As we stand on the brink of our own promised lands, let us remember that our victory is not dependent on our own strength or abilities but on the faithfulness of God. Let us consecrate ourselves, seek His guidance, trust in His promises, and step out in faith. For on the other side of our Jordans awaits the abundant life that God has promised to each of us.
May the Lord bless you and keep you, may His face shine upon you and give you peace as you journey into the promised land of His purpose for your life. Amen.
