No greater scale of anything in the Bible… covered EARTH.. that drowned the entire human race
Real event
Matthew 24:37–39 NASB95
37 “For the coming of the Son of Man will be just like the days of Noah. 38 “For as in those days before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, 39 and they did not understand until the flood came and took them all away; so will the coming of the Son of Man be.
Hebrews 11:7 NASB95
7 By faith Noah, being warned by God about things not yet seen, in reverence prepared an ark for the salvation of his household, by which he condemned the world, and became an heir of the righteousness which is according to faith.
1 Peter 3:20 NASB95
20 who once were disobedient, when the patience of God kept waiting in the days of Noah, during the construction of the ark, in which a few, that is, eight persons, were brought safely through the water.
2 Peter 2:5 NASB95
5 and did not spare the ancient world, but preserved Noah, a preacher of righteousness, with seven others, when He brought a flood upon the world of the ungodly;
No myth, children story, it indeed took place

The Faith Required

Genesis 7:1-5.
Genesis 7:1 NASB95
1 Then the Lord said to Noah, “Enter the ark, you and all your household, for you alone I have seen to be righteous before Me in this time.
120 years he’s worked on the ark… a century and 2 decades
“Enter the ark”
enclosed with a roof… 450 feet long… 45 feet high… 75 feet wide… able to house thousands of animals… 3 stories… and a window!
What God is saying… don’t forget… that Noah and his family are the only believers and God-seekers on the face of the earth
Henry Barnes in his book: The Genesis account… estimates 7 Billion people.
ENORMOUS amount of people!… They lived longer, procreated more, and and produced an inconceivable amount of people on the earth
Yet God said to Noah: “For you ALONE… I have seen to be righteous before me in this time”
That righteousness could ONLY extend from a genuine faith in God!
God seeing him as righteous is a testimony that Noah had faith in God, walked with God , trusted in God… and therefore was seen as righteous
What a contrast to the previous chapter… Genesis 6:5 “5 Then the Lord saw that the wickedness of man was great on the earth, and that every intent of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.”
Wicked… Corrupt
Noah & family were not
Genesis 7:2 NASB95
2 “You shall take with you of every clean animal by sevens, a male and his female; and of the animals that are not clean two, a male and his female;
Clean animals could be eaten/sacrificed… explained in Lev. 11.
Not ONE pair, but 7 pairs of clean animals… 2 pair of everything else
God is making in this, a sharp distinction between clean & unclean!
Foreshadows and testifies to God’s desire for Noah to live a CLEAN LIFE!
There is a RIGHT way to live! God is holy and God is in control… He decides that which is righteous and that which isnt
Genesis 7:3–4 NASB95
3 also of the birds of the sky, by sevens, male and female, to keep offspring alive on the face of all the earth. 4 “For after seven more days, I will send rain on the earth forty days and forty nights; and I will blot out from the face of the land every living thing that I have made.”
7 MORE days?!! Its been 120 years!
Noah, the preacher of righteousness, had been preaching for 120 years… with no one but his family believing
Yet God, in his longsuffering, before he sends the flood… allows for 7 more days… a time of grace!
He is slow to anger, and abounding in lovingkindness.
God delayed his judgement, and he does the same here today…
If you find yourself today not having committed your life to Christ… how gracious, God has been unto you!
God will blot out the world… means to obliterate.
Genesis 7:5 NASB95
5 Noah did according to all that the Lord had commanded him.
“I want you to build a titanic… in the middle of a desert… where it has never rained…”
Did Noah understand what would take place?
To a degree… God told him!!
But he hadn’t seen it.
What faith he had in God… to build the ark
God has promised the believer eternal life for those who truly love Him… He has left us commandments to obey and a way to worship that’s pleasing to Him.
May we have the faith of Noah to persevere in our walk with God… knowing for certain that His word is enough.

The Family Boarded

Genesis 7:6-9.
Genesis 7:6–7 NASB95
6 Now Noah was six hundred years old when the flood of water came upon the earth. 7 Then Noah and his sons and his wife and his sons’ wives with him entered the ark because of the water of the flood.
Notice!… It was not enough for Noah to just build the ark… It was not enough for him to nail the wood, seal it with pitch, and construct the boat. He had to GET IN!! He had to take a step of faith and ENTER into the ark!
Just as you and I must take that step of faith in Jesus Christ!
It’s not enough to admire Christ… come to Church… to see others enter the ark… YOU must enter!
It is a decision you MUST make in order to be safe from the wrath of God
Genesis 7:8–9 NASB95
8 Of clean animals and animals that are not clean and birds and everything that creeps on the ground, 9 there went into the ark to Noah by twos, male and female, as God had commanded Noah.
The Flood Began
Genesis 7:10-12.
Detail in Gen 7… nothing figurative, symbolic.
Fountains of the deep… reservoirs of water that came forth!
The Favor Found
Gen 7:13-16.
Husbands… spiritual leaders of your house… make sure your family gets on board. While you have them… teach them the truth of Christ, that they may see see their error and run to the only place of refuge at the feet of the cross.
Verse 16:
Elohim: the all powerful one
Yahweh: the all sufficient one
‌Moses as he is writing this wants us to know that God, the all powerful one, the all sufficient one… will most certainly carry out his purpose and plan..…. He’s got the whole world in his hands.
The lord closed it. It wasnt enough for Noah to keep himself there… God kept him safe
The Fury Unleashed
Gen 7:17-20.
“The water prevailed” 18, 19, 20, 24
In the NT that word picture a victorious army that devastates the foe
Shows how seriously God takes his word… in drowning the human race… Mt Ararat 17,000 feet high.
Small preview of the wrath of God that will be released in eternal Hell, forever and ever.
Hebrews 10:31 “31 It is a terrifying thing to fall into the hands of the living God.”
The Flesh Drowned
Gen 7:21-24.
13 times the word ALL is used.. Total and complete destruction
150 days…
included 40 days and nights of rain…
2.5 months for water to recede from top of mountains…
Over 4.5 months for dove to find dry land
So 8 months till they could step out of the ark
what is our response.
tou need to get on the ark
there is only one way to be saved from the impeding wrath to come than faith in the ark of Christ to deliver you from your sin
Christ, through the shedding of his blood, has made atonemeant availiabke for you today. Take up your cross and follow him.
