And yes my Father’s day gift is going to be a 24 hour nap, starting today!
Your kids wore me out!
If I could get,
Justin, Chelsea, Jamie, Cheryl, Jeremey, Jasmine, and Callie to come up.
These are the heroes of camp!
Can we give them a huge hand?

TODAY, IS FATHER’S DAY AND MEN I WANT TO GET YOU TO YOUR FAMILIES SO THEY CAN CELEBRATE YOU.
BUT FIRST, I WANT TO TALK TO ALL YOU DADS AND FUTURE DADS FOR JUST A FEW MINUTES.

WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO TRAIN A CHILD IN THE WAY HE SHOULD GO?

Is this scripture saying. “get a child saved and they will always return to salvation”
Or is this passage teaching us that at the center of the Christian life is THE WAY?
A lot of kids are raised in the church who leave the faith.
So obviously this is about more than getting our kids to church or getting them to say the sinners prayer.

DISCIPLESHIP - MENTORING AND TRAINING TO LIVE LIFE THE WAY GOD INTENDED IT!
LOOK AT PROV 22 AGAIN BUT THIS TIME IN CONTEXT.

Train up a child in the way he should go,
Even when he is old he will not depart from it.
The rich rules over the poor,
And the borrower becomes the lender’s slave.
He who sows iniquity will reap vanity,
And the rod of his fury will perish.
He who is generous will be blessed,
For he gives some of his food to the poor.
Drive out the scoffer, and contention will go out,
Even strife and dishonor will cease.
THIS IS A WISDOM PROVERB ABOUT FATHERS TRAINING THEIR CHILDREN IN THE WAY OF GOD AND THE BLESSINGS THAT FOLLOW THOSE WHO WALK IN THE WAY OF GOD.

SO MANY FATHERS ARE ABSENT FROM TRAINING THEIR CHILDREN IS THE WISDOM OF GOD.
SO MANY FATHERS ARE ABSENT FROM TRAINING THEIR CHILDREN IS THE WISDOM OF GOD.
Take them to church and let the children’s director teach them.
Send them to school and let the public school or even the Christian school disciple them.
Public school disciple them in the ways of the world.
Even at a Christian school – dads, you have to play the role of discipling your children.
Let the t-ball coach disciple them.
Finally, we let the peer groups disciple them.
And then we wonder why even though we took our kids to church on Sunday, the world and the ways of the world hold their heart.
DADS AND FUTURE DADS IF YOU ARE NOT TRAINING YOUR CHILDREN IN THE WAY OF GOD, SOMEONE ELSE WILL TRAIN THEM IN THE WAY OF THE WORLD.

This will not be exhaustive instead, let me give you a few things you need to make sure you are doing to be the best dad you can possibly be for your children.

“These words, which I am commanding you today, shall be on your heart.
“You shall teach them diligently to your sons and shall talk of them when you sit in your house and when you walk by the way and when you lie down and when you rise up.
“You shall bind them as a sign on your hand and they shall be as frontals on your forehead.
“You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.
Our faith is not just about emotions and feeling God, it is mostly about the wisdom and Law God has given for humanity to prosper in righteousness.
Teach your children the Proverbs daily!
Talk about them, discuss them, and teach them to live them.
Teach your children the law of God.
Not as a means of salvation but as the way God intends life to be lived.
My dad taught me sports and girls.
Never understood or even knew the wisdom and laws of God that lead to peace, righteousness, and blessing.

But flee from these things, you man of God, and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, perseverance and gentleness.
We can not be do as I say and not as I do Dads.
We are called to model the Gospel, the wisdom, and the law of God.
Model righteous money handling / Righteous relationships, righteous marriage / Righteous work ethics / Truth / Etc.
Your kids will learn as much from your actions as they do from your words.

and you have forgotten the exhortation which is addressed to you as sons,
“My son, do not regard lightly the discipline of the Lord,
Nor faint when you are reproved by Him;
For those whom the Lord loves He disciplines,
And He scourges every son whom He receives.”
Spare the rod and spoil the child.
Your kids do not need you to be besties.
They need you to lead them, mold them, and to prepare them to be righteous adults to God and in the world.

Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.
Just as a father has compassion on his children,
So the Lord has compassion on those who fear Him.
(Wayward son, father embraces and kisses his wayward son and welcomes Him back into the household and family.

Your children do not simply need an emotional Christianity – That will only create flakes, heretics, and those who leave the faith.
Your children need strong, godly men to train them in the wisdom and the way of the Lord.
These children belong to God more than they belong to you.
These children belong to God more than they belong to you.
God has invested them into your life, not to become little idols but so you would train them and disciple them in the ways of the Lord.
The Christian faith is not a woman’s religion, it is the way of God for the household of God and you men are to be at the center and head so your children will see and experience the blessing of the Lord and generations after you will declare God’s greatness in your.
