Living before the face of God

Prayer

Hebrews 12:1-3

Therefore, since we have so great a cloud of witnesses surrounding us, let us also lay aside every encumbrance and the sin which so easily entangles us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, 2 fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author, and perfecter of faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

From my teenage years to my mid 20’s I lived in total rebellion against the God of all creation .

You see, I was a slave to sin.

I wanted to control and make my reality.

But what happened was that reality controlled me. I lived under a darkness that literally was pressing down hard on me. This darkness blackend my heart.

I became a willing participant in causing much suffering in others and myself.

2 And you were dead in the trespasses and sins 2 in which you once walked, following the course of this world, following the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that is now at work in the sons of disobedience— 3 among whom we all once lived in the passions of our flesh, carrying out the desires of the body and the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, like the rest of mankind.

But God…

Over forty years ago the God of all creation got my attention which resulted in driving me to my knees in tears of repentance and thanksgiving.
