Call To Worship

Say: Let us now begin to worship the Father the Son, the Holy Spirit, Our Call to worship Comes to us from

Philippians 2:5–8 ESV
5 Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, 6 who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, 7 but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. 8 And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.

Introduction

300 Sermon Illustrations from Charles Spurgeon Precious, Tried, and Proved (2 Peter 1:4)

A poor old Christian woman was accustomed to make marginal notes in her Bible, and she placed against one text a “T” and a “P.” The minister asked her what that meant, and she said “It meant Tried and Proved, for I tried that promise on such-and-such an occasion, and found it true.”

“But, my dear sister,” said he, “I see up and down these pages, whenever there is a choice verse a great ‘P’ put against it; what does it mean?

“That means precious, sir, for I have found it precious, and have therefore set my seal to it.”

We too have our Bible spiritually if not literally marked after the same fashion, and often does the letter “P” appear against “exceeding great and precious promises” of God that have been sweet in our experience. We hope to die with a promise on our lips, and enter into heaven to enjoy their full fruition.

We are looking at a text to put our Giant Precious next to, to it the precious and awesome reminder of God’s kingdom to come. This is a precious reminder because God will bring this to pass. Heaven and the kingdom to come where we see Christ face to face are our passage today!

Text

Psalm 45:14–17 ESV
14 In many-colored robes she is led to the king, with her virgin companions following behind her. 15 With joy and gladness they are led along as they enter the palace of the king. 16 In place of your fathers shall be your sons; you will make them princes in all the earth. 17 I will cause your name to be remembered in all generations; therefore nations will praise you forever and ever.

Observations and Background

This final section takes place in what I’m calling the reception hall. This section is scene in
Revelation 19:6–10 (ESV) explains and expands on it....
6 Then I heard what seemed to be the voice of a great multitude, like the roar of many waters and like the sound of mighty peals of thunder, crying out, “Hallelujah! For the Lord our God the Almighty reigns.
7 Let us rejoice and exult and give him the glory, for the marriage of the Lamb has come, and his Bride has made herself ready;
8 it was granted her to clothe herself with fine linen, bright and pure”— for the fine linen is the righteous deeds of the saints.
9 And the angel said to me, “Write this: Blessed are those who are invited to the marriage supper of the Lamb.” And he said to me, “These are the true words of God.”
Now not all of Revelation is in chronological order, so I believe this scene is at the very end of our current age.
The terrible conflict at the end of time has already occured the Anti-Christ has been defeated and we are now feasting and enjoying our reward!
And so as the PSa

She shall be brought, They shall be brought (v14-15)

Oh what a Day of rejoicing that will be, when we all see Jesus we will all sing and shout the victory! This is speaking before the opening of the milannail age and the eternal state their after.
She shall be brought to her, we are the church and the church will be brought to her, robes of many colors denoting riches, she is witht he king of kings forever!
Virgins - purity restored, sinful qualities totally removed - We are also the companions, that is us who are part of the church.

Application- encouragement and convince you

If you feel unclean for any reason you need to know that God counts you as clean! If you’re a Christian Matt. 8:2-3
Matthew 8:2–3 ESV
2 And behold, a leper came to him and knelt before him, saying, “Lord, if you will, you can make me clean.” 3 And Jesus stretched out his hand and touched him, saying, “I will; be clean.” And immediately his leprosy was cleansed.
You if your believe in Jesus have been cleansed! He wills it so. You in his sight do not carry that weight of sin any longer. We contend with spiritual evil that we cannot see and it will throw your sins in your face whenever they can. Let me remind you, that if you believe you have been washed in the blood.
One of my favorite hymns says - Jesus paid it all, all to him I owe, sin had left a crimson stain he washed as white as snow!
Don’t let the world, your flesh, or the devil take an inch of your mental state! You have been made clean. If you’re in sin today now is the time of repentance!
We’re getting really baptist in hear today! Quoting Spurgeon, pastor making illustrations with hymns, tonight we’re eating! Wow!
Yes you’ve been cleansed and that leads to the next part in 15 the result of being virigin pure in God’s sight.

Gladness and rejoicing - You can see that the Psalmist saw what I believe John saw Revelation 19:6

Revelation 19:6 ESV
6 Then I heard what seemed to be the voice of a great multitude, like the roar of many waters and like the sound of mighty peals of thunder, crying out, “Hallelujah! For the Lord our God the Almighty reigns.
The rejoicing here is the same as the great multitudes, the roars. Have you ever been to a concert so loud you’re overwhelmed? When I went to go see the Bolts play it was deafening in the Amalie arena! The joy of this event will dwarf that! Imagine all the saints throughout time all together praising God. How loud, how glorious, it would be like thunder and crashing waves!

Rejoice and Joy Application

This must define our worship today! Joy and rejoicing!
Philippians 4:4 ESV
4 Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice.
Think of Paul writing this he is in jail and commending the Philippians, a poor faithful church, to rejoice! His peace in prison was his joy in Jesus! If he can say that there, imagine what it will be like when we see him face to face?
So for our worship we must make it joyfully, God focused, and bold!
In your life, and I want the kids to hear this but also the adults, we will receive one day perfect joy, but until then we must have joyful hearts in all things because God is good! Don’t be Eeyore, who always see gloomyness, or Piglet who is consumed with worry, but be Pooh bear or Tigger. Who can’t stop being kind, joyful, and bouncing! (in Tigger’s case)
Christians are to be a joyful people! We win, and we’ve already won! The Bible has been tried and proved!
They Shall - (shall said three times, 6 in this section

Point 2 God is doing the work

Led (14) They are led (15) You will make them (16) I will cause (17)
This wedding, this event, this place is made of all of God
I want to zoom into verse Psalm 45:15
Psalm 45:15 ESV
15 With joy and gladness they are led along as they enter the palace of the king.
I want to remind you that this world is winding down and the Lord will return in glory and power. All of history is pointing the the second coming scripture will be fulfilled and then that glorious day that Jesus will estblish his kingdom on earth forever. He will return for his bride and establish his rule.
You can see tha this glorious kingdom is coming

Point 3

Psalm 45:17 ESV
17 I will cause your name to be remembered in all generations; therefore nations will praise you forever and ever.
This gospel will not be over come.
Spurgeon in his commentary on Psalm 1 said this
The righteous man ploughs the furrows of earth, and sows a harvest here, which shall never be fully reaped till he enters the enjoyments of eternity; but as for the wicked, he ploughs the sea, and though there may seem to be a shining trail behind his keel, yet the waves shall pass over it, and the place that knew him shall know him no more for ever. The very "way" of the ungodly shall perish. If it exist in remembrance, it shall be in the remembrance of the bad; for the Lord will cause the name of the wicked to rot, to become a stench in the nostrils of the good, and to be only known to the wicked themselves by its putridity.
Christ is the righteous man will be remembered for all eternity. The fruits of the wicked are liek the wake of a ship hear for a momment and gone forever. Christianity God’s very own religion shall not perish. It will go on.
So you can have comfort that he will be always remembered. The faith of your children, grandchildren, your own faith is not based on anything other then Jesus. he brings you to it.
His name all the nations will praise. I’d include America, the UK all the nations will praise him forever.
What are you doing that shall last?
(Gospel)
