The Power of Persistence!

Galatians 6:9 KJV 1900
9 And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.
Happy Father’s Day to all the fathers! First of I all I want to thanks my heavenly Father for all he done!!
Next, I want to thank my biological father whom I spoke to this morning and yesterday. I appreciate and honor the relationship with him. I cherish to moment we talk and spent time together.
I also want to thank my spiritual fathers the late RJ Washington, Elder Albert Hicks, and Pastor Lonnie McCowan. Each of these men impacted my spiritual life
Next, I want to thank my stepfather who helped raise me from the age eight till I became a man . He has passed away but he is not forgotten.
I know having a man in the house to help raise me made a difference.
When I came home beat up he taught me to protect myself and stand up for my younger sibling.
He also taught me that nobody owes me anything; so do go through taking others for granted and acting like a victim.
Too many men, fathers are blaming others rather than taking responsibility for their actions and repenting.
No matter what life brings your way you are not a victim, no one owes to anything .
So therefore be grateful for where you are in life and what people do for you.
Our text today, in Galatians 6:9 “9 And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.” Is dealing with Be persistence to experience God abundant plan for your life.
As a believer in Christ, you have what it takes to succeed and thrive in this life and when you leave this life
PERSISTENCE MEANS KEEPING ON WHEN PRAYER SEEMS FRUITLESS (Luke 18:1-8
Luke 18:1–8 KJV 1900
1 And he spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint; 2 Saying, There was in a city a judge, which feared not God, neither regarded man: 3 And there was a widow in that city; and she came unto him, saying, Avenge me of mine adversary. 4 And he would not for a while: but afterward he said within himself, Though I fear not God, nor regard man; 5 Yet because this widow troubleth me, I will avenge her, lest by her continual coming she weary me. 6 And the Lord said, Hear what the unjust judge saith. 7 And shall not God avenge his own elect, which cry day and night unto him, though he bear long with them? 8 I tell you that he will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth?
One of the hardest places to be persistent is in the matter of prayer. We often call our requests to God unanswered when the truth is we have not given God time to answer. We have lost persistence in the matter of prayer.
In Luke 18:1-8, Jesus taught a parable a- bout prayer. The effect was this: we “ought always to pray and not lose heart.” To lose heart is to faint, or to turn coward, or to give in. Jesus called for persistence in prayer.
God responds to persistence on the part of His children. God answers those whose requests are right, earnest, and persistent. God is willing to answer if we are faithful, and if we grant Him time to respond.
Many of our greatest desires demand that we enter into a persistent search. Often we have not, simply because we are impatient. We too soon give up on our prayers as unanswered. Are you persistent in prayer?
II. PERSISTENCE MEANS KEEPING ON WHEN LIFE IS TOUGH (Acts 14:22
Acts 14:22 KJV 1900
22 Confirming the souls of the disciples, and exhorting them to continue in the faith, and that we must through much tribulation enter into the kingdom of God.
It is simply a myth to believe that life will always be easy, even for the Christian. When Paul went back to visit his converts from heathenism in some of the churches, he exhorted them to continue in the faith (See Acts 14:22). The idea was to remain in the faith, to stick it out, to keep on keeping on.
We are living, sadly, in a world of despair. Despair, when it rules the human spirit, causes a loss of all hope. Despair has occurred when anyone says that life is pointless. Paul at one time in his life said, “We are so utterly, unbearably crushed that we despaired of life itself” (2 Cor. 1:8, RSV). Even at the end of his rope, Paul had persistence. He tied a knot and held on.
To those in despair, to those for whom life is tough, God has the power to deliver if they are persistent. Suicide strikes fear in our hearts. Yet our lives are touched by it. It is the way out for many in despair, for many who have lost sight of the delivering power of God.
As believers we must never give up 2 Cor 4:8-10
2 Corinthians 4:8–10 (KJV 1900)
8 We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; 9 Persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed; 10 Always bearing about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our body.
God’s word in the midst of extreme stress is this--there is an answer to your problems. Keep on keeping on. Life is a gift from God and therefore is not to be taken by one’s own hand. Persistence, not suicide, is the answer when things get tough.
III. PERSISTENCE MEANS KEEPING ON WHEN THE CAUSE IS WORTHWHILE (Gal. 6:9; Hebrews 12:1 “1 Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,”
Look at what the writer of Hebrews said, in Heb. 12:1. The word Witnesses is from the Greek word Martyrs: it means - They testify to us that God will see us through. Persistence is certainly required in fighting for any just cause.
We are fighting to expand God’s kingdom on earth
Read what Paul said to the Galatians in Gal. 6:9. How many battles for Christ could be won if we simply did not grow weary and lose heart? Persistence is the key to any worthwhile endeavor.
Harevest time will be here if we do not give an state persistent.
