Intro-

When everything feels like it’s falling apart, hold on to the God who never fails.

The hardest way to go through is alone.

11 When Job’s three friends, Eliphaz the Temanite, Bildad the Shuhite and Zophar the Naamathite, heard about all the troubles that had come upon him, they set out from their homes and met together by agreement to go and sympathize with him and comfort him. 12 When they saw him from a distance, they could hardly recognize him; they began to weep aloud, and they tore their robes and sprinkled dust on their heads. 13 Then they sat on the ground with him for seven days and seven nights. No one said a word to him, because they saw how great his suffering was.

Don’t give apologies or apologetics…give empathy and presence
More often than not people don't need reasons for their pain, they just need presence while they process it.
The best friends bring their kindness rather than their comments.
Talk about committed to community

9 Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good. 10 Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves. 11 Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord. 12 Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer. 13 Share with the Lord’s people who are in need. Practice hospitality.

14 Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse. 15 Rejoice with those who rejoice; mourn with those who mourn.

26 If one part suffers, every part suffers with it; if one part is honored, every part rejoices with it.

2 Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ. 3

Bad Things To Do
Make it about you
Say harmful things
-”God just needed them more than us or He needed another angel.”
-Comparative or glass half-full statements or “it could be worse”
-God gives the hardest battles to the strongest soilders
-I told you so or this shouldn’t be surprising
Pull away/ avoid the conversation
Good Things To Do
Show up with a heart that breaks with them and for them.
Give your empathy not your answers.
We need friends who will hold on to us and hold on to Jesus for us when everything feels like its failing apart.
