State of the Church Address

This is my first state of the church address. I’ll try to keep it brief. I just want to review with you the past year and highlight some of the things God has done as well as where we are headed.

Over the last year

Teaching & Preaching Series

• Gospel of John (chapters 12-21)

• Being the Church (October – November)

• Bible Reading Discussion (Completed Chronological plan, started Spiral plan)

• Bible Overview (Wednesday series completed in December)

• Attributes of God (completed)

• Holiday Messages (Thanksgiving, New Year, Good Friday, Easter)

• Visiting Preachers (Max Barker, Larry Duvall, Chris Collins Sr., Joel Diffenderfer)

• Fridays: Parenting Study & Revelation 1-3

Restarted Jail Ministry

• Began again in November; Bible studies with inmates on the 1st Tuesday each month by Bob and Pastor Chris

Visiting Missionaries

• 3 missionary families visited and shared their ministries (Jared Garcia, Joel and Misti Diffenderfer, Terry and Denise Domstad)

• Garcias taken on for support as of October

• Missionary offering in November ($1300ish?)

Generous giving

over the past year – besides special offerings, as a church we gave nearly $8000 more than what we spent.

Church Vision and Mission

· Our Vision at ABC: To be disciples who make disciples of Jesus Christ.

· Our Mission at ABC: To grow in love for God, one another, and the lost.

Ways to grow over the next year:

• Increase attendance at prayer meetings and Bible studies – encourage everyone to choose at least one additional study / meeting to regularly attend over the next year (Wednesday PM, Sunday 10 AM Bible Study, Sunday Afternoon Services)

• More members identifying and using spiritual gifts to serve the Body

• Everyone find at least one person to share the gospel with and invite to come to our church (most new visitors come because of a connection with a member, not the pastor)

• Individual Bible reading and prayer time (if you need help or advice on how to set that up, please ask for help)

• Continue to be faithful in financial support of the ministry of the church (if you can give more, consider that – could we increase missions budget next year?)
