He Wants to Fill You

In the world we live in we have all sorts of containers we use that are filled with difference substances.

Can anyone think of containers that are filled with something?

(Pull out what you brought) I have some containers… febreeze, tooth paste, water bottle, hair conditioner these are containers that have been filled with some type of substance.

In John chapter 4 we see a women with a container wishing for it to be filled with water from this well.

Often in those days women would go to a well to get water in the evening in groups.

But this women was a sort of outcast so she came at noon or the sixth hour the hottest hour of the day

she attempted because she wanted to go when nobody would be there

But Jesus traveling on his way to Galilee knew she would be there and set up a divine appointment with her.

When she came to draw water from a well in a little city named Sychar Jesus would be sitting there already waiting.

She was a Samaritan women.

The Jews were not fond of the Samaritans, they saw them as unclean since birth and people not to be in close contact with.

1. Jesus is Looking For You

Lets read it, John 4:1–7 “When therefore the Lord knew how the Pharisees had heard that Jesus made and baptized more disciples than John, (Though Jesus himself baptized not, but his disciples,) He left Judaea, and departed again into Galilee. And he must needs go through Samaria. Then cometh he to a city of Samaria, which is called Sychar, near to the parcel of ground that Jacob gave to his son Joseph. Now Jacob’s well was there. Jesus therefore, being wearied with his journey, sat thus on the well: and it was about the sixth hour. There cometh a woman of Samaria to draw water:..”

I would tell you today that Jesus is looking for you

He is looking for your address.

He looking for a moment when you and I are open to hear what he has to say

Jesus would say “give me drink”

He was trying to get her attention.

In light of this passage we all have to ask our selves this, Are you aware when Jesus wants to spend time with you?

Are you aware when Jesus is calling you closer to Him?

I feel it happen in my life, this prompting of the spirit of God saying go head and pray, go head and seek me.

If your not to a point where you notice that prompting, you ought to ask God to make you more aware.

We see through out this encounter, that the more she talked with Jesus the more she saw who He really was

The more you talk with Jesus, the more you will know who He is

The more time you spend in prayer, not just on a Sunday but on Monday’s and Tuesday’s, the more you will know who He is

When you spend time in his word, and I promise you will begin to know Him for yourself.

What doesn’t matter:

- Your past

- Your heritage

- Wealth

- Intellect

- Abilities or talents

God over looks those to reach you

The women at the Well perspective of Jesus:

First Jesus was just a Jew to her

Then we was someone who could make her life easier

Then as he was a prophet

But by the end she said is not this the Messiah - she saw him as the Savior of the World

2. Living Water

Lets keep reading, John 4:7–14 “There cometh a woman of Samaria to draw water: Jesus saith unto her, Give me to drink. (For his disciples were gone away unto the city to buy meat.) Then saith the woman of Samaria unto him, How is it that thou, being a Jew, askest drink of me, which am a woman of Samaria? for the Jews have no dealings with the Samaritans. Jesus answered and said unto her, If thou knewest the gift of God, and who it is that saith to thee, Give me to drink; thou wouldest have asked of him, and he would have given thee living water. The woman saith unto him, Sir, thou hast nothing to draw with, and the well is deep: from whence then hast thou that living water? Art thou greater than our father Jacob, which gave us the well, and drank thereof himself, and his children, and his cattle? Jesus answered and said unto her, Whosoever drinketh of this water shall thirst again: But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well …”

Samaritans believed in the same God as the Jews

They believed in the law of Moses and the 10 commandments

This well was Jacob’s well the man that the Israelites would start from

This well was special to the Samaritans

But truly it was nothing more than an earthly object

Jesus would offer her something better.

And I would pause right here and tell you Jesus has something better to offer than anything in the world.

- Better than sports

- Better than any boy friend or girl friend

- Better than better than the approve of peers or teens your age

Better than anything!

Jesus said I have living water.

Living water - fresh or flowing water (Did you know stagnate water is water that bacteria, viruses and fungi build up in); or water of life

Jesus is saying I want to give you something that is fresh, something that will give life and not death

The best life you can live is in Jesus Christ

The most joy you’ll ever have is when you live for Jesus

I have friends who have walked away from church and they are miserable

They can’t find fulfillment anything

Don’t ever stop pursuing Jesus

3. Shall be in him a well…

Lets read verse 14 again, John 4:14 “But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.”

God is saying the water that he wants to give man, to every guy and every girl, it shall be in him

He is not talking about filling any earthly container but, he was talking about filling the container of our hearts with life

He wants to fill you and I with His spirit!

Galatians says that when you have the spirit you will have

Love

Joy

Peace

Long suffering

Gentleness

Goodness

Faith

Meekness

temperance

If you want everlasting life you need his spirit

I’m telling everyone here today, God wants to fill you with the Spirit

And Maybe you’ve got it for the first time long ago… Im saying he wants to fill you over and over and over again!

We must seek for Him to fill us again

Appeal - You have to want it

As I showed you, These containers that we use daily are filled

But they are filled by machines and workers that it can be sold to the public

You want to know the difference between you and these containers….

These are filled involuntarily; they don’t have a choice.

But God gives us a choice if we want to be filled with His spirit

We can say no to receiving the best gift we can can ever have.

The question is not can He fill you but it’s, do you want to be filled?

When you are truly filled you are going to do as she did she begin to tell everyone she knew… She began to tell them come and see Jesus!

I’ve been telling God I don’t just want to maintain the youth but grow them. Does anyone agree with me you don’t want to just have fun but you want to grow?

This is the end of this series I would on this last teaching if we could press a little bit and begin to pray

When we lift our head and lift our hands that’s use saying God I want you to fill me, that’s the start to you saying yes
