Nobody can tell your story like you can. Nobody knows like you what God did for you.
Issac Watts-1674-1712 had a fever, 1716 wrote a song. And it was a good hymn. That hymn embodied the ideas of this Psalm. But, I like it better as it is sang from the soul. I like it better baptized in soul metered by African tempo, and arranged in the blues of the delta, and sang from the very depths of the heart as our people who have suffered unto death. You know the song: I love the Lord: He heard my cries, And pitied every groan:Long as I live, when troubles rise,I’ll hasten to His throne.
That’s it. That’s a testimony.

1. Heard My Supplications

This is one of the great mysteries and blessings of our faith. That God listens to us, that God hears us. This author has come out of something and he knows that not only has he come out because of God, but further more, that God brought him out because he called on God for help.
My plea for mercy.
Inclined his ear.
Verizon-Can you here me now…Good

2. Saved my Soul (v.4-8)

This person was at the brink of death and despair and he called on God to save his soul. The the reason He does this is because He is Gracious and Righteous. It’s right there in v. 5.
He is gracious and is merciful. The snares of Death encompassed me and the pangs of Sheol laid hold of me.

3. Saved my Life (v.9)

(Explain in Hebrew these words can be synonomous.)
Saved from....(run)
God just doesn’t save us from death. He saves us to live. I will walk in the land of the living. The author is saying while I still have breath, while I still have mobility, I will live. And when God saves you, you should have a renewed since of purpose. That should let you know that God is not finished with you, so you better not be finished with God.

4. Serve Him

They then raise up the question in v. 12, “What shall I repay the LORD for all His benefits to me?”
I will pay my vows to the LORD
I am your servant
I will offer the sacrifice of thanksgiving. Praise the LORD!
