1 Corinthians 6:9-11.
v 9-10
sin discrimination- Paul is showing that God considers and condemns both “gross offense” and subtle.
Matthew 5:27–30 “27 “You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall not commit adultery.’ 28 But I say to you that everyone who looks at a woman with lustful intent has already committed adultery with her in his heart. 29 If your right eye causes you to sin, tear it out and throw it away. For it is better that you lose one of your members than that your whole body be thrown into hell. 30 And if your right hand causes you to sin, cut it off and throw it away. For it is better that you lose one of your members than that your whole body go into hell.”
Revelation 21:8 “8 But as for the cowardly, the faithless, the detestable, as for murderers, the sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars, their portion will be in the lake that burns with fire and sulfur, which is the second death.””
2. the Bible does define homosexuality as sinful
Leviticus 18:22 “22 You shall not lie with a male as with a woman; it is an abomination.”
Romans 1:26–27 “26 For this reason God gave them up to dishonorable passions. For their women exchanged natural relations for those that are contrary to nature; 27 and the men likewise gave up natural relations with women and were consumed with passion for one another, men committing shameless acts with men and receiving in themselves the due penalty for their error.”
3. it also defines heterosexual sin as sinful and condemning
porneia refers to all manner of sexual sin: fornication, adultery, bestiality, promiscuity, sensuality (fantasy, flirtation of one not your own)
4. sins of omission, commission, and intention.
one man one woman for life
one man one woman for life
God’s intent for sexual expression is within a covenant marriage between a man and a woman (see Gen. 2:24; Heb. 13:4). Hence, adultery and fornication are denounced in Scripture, along with homosexual behavior.
An inborn tendency toward a particular sin does not justify that sin; it reinforces the need for a Savior.
Run!
Run!
some sins we fight against, we are to flee from sexual sin
Genesis 39:6–12 “6 So he left all that he had in Joseph’s charge, and because of him he had no concern about anything but the food he ate. Now Joseph was handsome in form and appearance. 7 And after a time his master’s wife cast her eyes on Joseph and said, “Lie with me.” 8 But he refused and said to his master’s wife, “Behold, because of me my master has no concern about anything in the house, and he has put everything that he has in my charge. 9 He is not greater in this house than I am, nor has he kept back anything from me except you, because you are his wife. How then can I do this great wickedness and sin against God?” 10 And as she spoke to Joseph day after day, he would not listen to her, to lie beside her or to be with her. 11 But one day, when he went into the house to do his work and none of the men of the house was there in the house, 12 she caught him by his garment, saying, “Lie with me.” But he left his garment in her hand and fled and got out of the house.”
