The Resolution of Naomi

Facing difficult situations, Naomi has to make a self-defeating decision by asking her two daughters in law to leave her. She puts their interests over her own well-being and needs.
She demonstrates her loyalty to her husband’s family and kinship by returning to Jerusalem with an uncertain future awaiting her.
A widow lacks of familial provision poses particular challenges to life in the ancient society.
What was one of the situations that you were under pressure to make a difficult choice?
Naomi is more a realist than an idealist. She rightly assessed her physical situation and presumed her decision will be the best in the scenario for the three women.

The Devotion of Ruth

Ruth is well aware of the plagues that the family is going through. Yet she has resolved to stick with Naomi irrespective of her circumstance and means of support.
Her famous statement about professing faith in God shows an exceptional trust in the ability and character of God for His leading and provisions.
Ruth's devotion to Naomi is a sign of unwavering faith in contrast to Orpah's decision to return home.

The Companions in Faith

Naomi and Ruth bonded together in their life journey for mutual support and encouragement.
Their spiritual maturity and trust in God grows ever stronger.
We can emulate their example to be a companion to someone who is going through difficulties in life.
Whose name God has put in your heart right now? Can you pray for an opportunity and courage to be with this someone?
