Be Content But Not Complacent
As a believer, Our decision making must be different because we don’t have a worldly perspective.
Paul tells the Philippians that he has learned “the secret” to being content in any and every situation.
Paul’s secret is that he is always striving to do what God has called him to do.
At the end of the day, Are you doing everything you can do to remain faithful and true to the Lord .
As a result, you can not afford to take any days off, and if you ARE off its really time for you to get back to work
You are apart of a bigger picture.
This has to be a place in which you remain that no matter how bad it gets, no matter how bad it looks, Somehow - Someway GOD is going to work this out.
Prosperity and pleasant experiences in life can cause a person to forsake God due to complacency or worldly contentment.
NO MATTER what season you’re in, Worship and praise to God as the perfecter of your faith is always in ORDER.
—-
No matter what it looks like theres a promise attached to your LIFE!
Gen 12
And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing:
Genesis 15:1 ESV
1 After these things the word of the Lord came to Abram in a vision: “Fear not, Abram, I am your shield; your reward shall be very great.”
For god to tell Abram, Do not be afraid, I am your shield, and thy exceeding great reward
II. The same God that delivered you from your adversary, Brought you into the wilderness.
A. Your wilderness experience is NOT your home.
A. The murmuring of Israel against Moses and the Lord is a theme common to the wilderness narratives.
B. The act of murmuring which, if unresolved, will cause you to stay in your situation longer than intended.
C.The wilderness forces you to rely upon God, and the Bible often attributes survival in the wilderness to his grace
D. Because God is able AND WILL to sustain his people in the wilderness, it is also a place of sanctuary in times of danger
E. EVEN - David Retreated to The wilderness when being sought after by Saul (1 sam 23) and God kept him.
In other words, keep living you will have a wilderness experience.
DOOM AND GLOOM - you’ve got to let it go.
Israel dwelt in the wilderness for 430 years.
God delivers Israel from the hand of their oppressor - NOT of their own accord…GOD did it.
Exodus 12:37 - 600,000 MEN traveled, not including women and children.
God is so good, all knowing all powerful, the he can deliver you, while working it out for someone else.
Numbers 14 :4 says, "Let us appoint a leader and return to Egypt".
But In spite of being delivered from slavery the former life was still appealing
God delivered you from some things, and you literally can not afford to return back.
You got to be careful not to get so fed up with your process that you think the only “best” or “Right” option is to do is return to your place of captivity.
The writer of Hebrews:
There is comfort and hope to those who “live according to the Spirit”
by telling them that they will not suffer condemnation (8:1),
that all things will work together for their good (8:28),
and that nothing can separate them from the love of Christ (8:39).
God will bring you to a situation just to test your faith.
Hebrews 10:23 ESV
23 Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful.
My hope is built on nothing Less than Jesus’s Blood and Righteousness.
Just another day that the Lord has kept me.
Draw me close to You Never let me go…you’re all I’ve ever needed.
Yes, its true Christ is all is ever need.
Can't Let a Day Go By Without Praising His Name…I can’t forget from whence I came”
Do we forget? Let be honest. Do we really Forget all of the times
The LORD has allowed you to make it back home after you was out doing what you had no business doing.
How does God Draw you close to him? And in doing so, reject him.
For whom the Lord loves He chastens, And scourges every son whom He receives.”
Training instruction or discipline.
Hebrews 12:5–6 ESV
5 And have you forgotten the exhortation that addresses you as sons? “My son, do not regard lightly the discipline of the Lord, nor be weary when reproved by him. 6 For the Lord disciplines the one he loves, and chastises every son whom he receives.”
You got to be careful not to get so fed up with your process that you think the only “best” thing to do is return to your place of captivity.
The easy way out is the worse way out. You’ve got to endure .
Expect the fact, that Seasons Change
Exodus 15:22–24 ESV
22 Then Moses made Israel set out from the Red Sea, and they went into the wilderness of Shur. They went three days in the wilderness and found no water. 23 When they came to Marah, they could not drink the water of Marah because it was bitter; therefore it was named Marah. 24 And the people grumbled against Moses, saying, “What shall we drink?”
When you’re met with the unknown, how do you handle difficulty?
The unfamiliar, if not careful will cause to become discouraged, angry.
Ecclesiastes 4:9–12 ESV
9 Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their toil. 10 For if they fall, one will lift up his fellow. But woe to him who is alone when he falls and has not another to lift him up! 11 Again, if two lie together, they keep warm, but how can one keep warm alone? 12 And though a man might prevail against one who is alone, two will withstand him—a threefold cord is not quickly broken.
Interestingly, friendship is one area of life that Ecclesiastes never calls “futile.” Pointless
James 2:23 ESV
23 and the Scripture was fulfilled that says, “Abraham believed God, and it was counted to him as righteousness”—and he was called a friend of God.
God is and has been and is looking out for Israel - he has their best interest at heart, yet they CHOOSE to grumble.
The same God that delivered you from your adversary, has led you into the wilderness.
Not because He DOES not love you. He called you friend
God doesn’t bring you into a “wilderness” experience to abandon you.
Every bitter situation in your life is an opportunity for God to get the glory
Numbers 23:19 ESV
19 God is not man, that he should lie, or a son of man, that he should change his mind. Has he said, and will he not do it? Or has he spoken, and will he not fulfill it?
God’s plan for your life is still active. If you’re breathing, he want
Exodus 15:25 ESV
25 And he cried to the Lord, and the Lord showed him a log, and he threw it into the water, and the water became sweet. There the Lord made for them a statute and a rule, and there he tested them,
Moses cries out to the lord.
In other words, there is an appeal or a cry for direction/ answer. v 25
Notice how seeking the lord is his first course of action -
A. Shows him - HE sought out for answer, and he received.
Point you in the right direction, and bring ORDER/ discipline to your life.
Part of the issue with the world, we cant stay commented to God, because of the lack of letting the Holy spirit work in us.
ask and ye shall receive knock and the door shall be open.
Galatians 6:9 ESV
9 And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.
John 14:14 ESV
14 If you ask me anything in my name, I will do it.
John 14:14
Jesus does not promise His disciples anything and everything they want; rather, He instructs them to ask “in my name.”
The wilderness experience will work some stuff out of you. it will cause you to slow down and hear his voice - and pray according to HIS WILL.
ASK in his NAME And you will receive.
And the water BECAME SWEET
Give you a plan of actions. God wants to reveal his plan to you - all he wants is the GLORY.
We don’t praise GOD enough…
C. Results
There MUST BE Heartfelt Reverence, Conviction, and Submission to GOD. ITS Required.
Exodus 15:26–27 ESV
26 saying, “If you will diligently listen to the voice of the Lord your God, and do that which is right in his eyes, and give ear to his commandments and keep all his statutes, I will put none of the diseases on you that I put on the Egyptians, for I am the Lord, your healer.” 27 Then they came to Elim, where there were twelve springs of water and seventy palm trees, and they encamped there by the water.
Satan DOES not want you to follow the commandments and statutes of the lord.
How you handle your desire to return to what you’ve been delivered from shows really shows God if your ready to move from the wildress to your promise - a land flowing with provision.
With true deliverance, come freedom.
Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.
Freedom or Liberty is living as we SHOULD not as we please.
He spirit must RULE and Abide - having full control.
Exodus 15:26 ESV
26 saying, “If you will diligently listen to the voice of the Lord your God, and do that which is right in his eyes, and give ear to his commandments and keep all his statutes, I will put none of the diseases on you that I put on the Egyptians, for I am the Lord, your healer.”
In Exodus 15:26 there was another name revealed for God. “I am the Lord that healeth thee.” The Hebrew word is rapha. I am Jehovah-rapha. I am the God who healeth thee.
“Jehovah Who Heals.” Jehovah is the Great Physician who heals the physical and Emotional needs
He desires to heal nations:
2 Chronicles 7:14 ESV
14 if my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.
He desires to heal broken hearts—David says in Psalm 147:3, “He healeth the broken in heart and bindeth up their wounds.”
He desires to heal sinful souls—Note the words of David in Psalm 41:4: “I said, Lord, be merciful unto me: heal my soul; for I have sinned against thee.”
Genesis 20:17 ESV
17 Then Abraham prayed to God, and God healed Abimelech, and also healed his wife and female slaves so that they bore children.
John 15:1–3 ESV
1 “I am the true vine, and my Father is the vinedresser. 2 Every branch in me that does not bear fruit he takes away, and every branch that does bear fruit he prunes, that it may bear more fruit. 3 Already you are clean because of the word that I have spoken to you.

Rapha’ signifies heal (Gn 20:17)

The need to trust him in a bitter situation
The same God that delivered you from your adversary, has led you into the wilderness.
Not because He DOES not love you.
God doesn’t bring you into a “wilderness” experience to abandon you.
Num 23:19 - CONTEXT needed.
The Plan of God is flawless - he makes no mistakes.
God is perfect. We are imperfect.
God is literally taking you on a journey to what will be worth it in the end.
The wilderness is therefore also the place of testing, repentance, and spiritual growth
Lamentations 3:22-23 - CONTEXT needed - WORD lookup
