I know Who I am
I know Who I am
Matthew 16:13-18
When Jesus came into the coasts of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, saying, Whom do men say that I the Son of man am?14And they said, Some say that thou art John the Baptist: some, Elias; and others, Jeremias, or one of the prophets.15He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am?16And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.17And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven.18And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.
Two of the Most important days of your life is the Day you were born nd thr Day you find out why!
We are constantly questioning who we are In a word where you are identified by what others think and who they fill! But you have to KNOW who you are!!
It seems somtimes we have what we call an Identity crisis!
An Identity Crisis is defined as a period of uncertinty a point of confusion when A person becomes insecure or unstable of who they are ! The symptom that stood out the most to me is Lack of Direction Lack Of Purpose!
We find in the bible where some of the greats dealt with this very same thing! Moses struggled with Identity! Saul Struggled with Idenity ,Peter struggled with Identity
But it wasnt until these men had an encounter with Jesus that realized WHO they where! They were I to Questioned who I was ! I acted like they wanted me to act I was who they wanted me to be becasue of encounters! I tried to be someone that I wsnt But it wasnt until I had an encoiunter with Jesus that I realized not only who I was but Whis I was and my Purpose was activted !!
Jesus asked a question Who do men Say that I am ??
I’m sure this wasn’t because Jesus wanted to find out who He was. He was probing His disciples to get their opinion of who He was, and this was His introduction to that subject. This instance is also recorded in Mark 8:27-29 and Luke 9:18-20, but Matthew’s account is the most detailed.
And they said, Some say that thou art John the Baptist: some, Elias; and others, Jeremias, or one of the prophets.
The disciples reported four different opinions about who Jesus was. None of them identified Jesus as the Messiah or the Son of God. The people were willing to identify Jesus as someone special but not as God. There can be no compromise on this point (see my note at John 14:6). All the prophets mentioned in this verse had been dead for a long time. Apparently, these people believed in reincarnation or supernatural resurrection.
Jesus Didnt Let what others thought of HIM to define Him!! HE Knew who he WAS! HE knew his Purpose!! He know WHy He was here He Know who he was and HE walked in the Fullness ! But others tried to define him!! and they tried to indentify him by everything they thought he was BUT HE WAS THE CHRIST!! HE WAS THE EVER LASTING ! HE IS THE KING OF KINGS HE IS THE
He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am?
It really doesn’t matter what the public opinion of Jesus is. It’s only what we think about Jesus that determines our relationship to Him.
Peter made his share of blunders. Sometimes it seems like the only time he opened his mouth was to change feet. But give him credit—he hit the nail right on the head this time, and Jesus complimented him for it (Matthew 16:17).
And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven.18And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.
