John 5:5–9 KJV 1900
5 And a certain man was there, which had an infirmity thirty and eight years. 6 When Jesus saw him lie, and knew that he had been now a long time in that case, he saith unto him, Wilt thou be made whole? 7 The impotent man answered him, Sir, I have no man, when the water is troubled, to put me into the pool: but while I am coming, another steppeth down before me. 8 Jesus saith unto him, Rise, take up thy bed, and walk. 9 And immediately the man was made whole, and took up his bed, and walked: and on the same day was the sabbath.
Look at someone and Say it's time to RISE! The purpose of this message is to help God’s people live an excuse-free life. No excuses! Rise up and complete your kingdom assignment!
As we search the scriptures today, in John's chapter, we have come to a pivotal point in Jesus' ministry on earth.
Thus far, Jesus has not caused too much opposition; he has just started his earth ministry.
He turned water into wine...
He shared the revelation of what it means to be born again
He shared his mission statement. John 3:16-17
John 3:16–17 KJV 1900
16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. 17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
He shared the need to drink the water that will help us never thirst again, the true meaning of worship to a Samaritan woman at the well, and His vision. John 4:14
John 4:14 KJV 1900
14 But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.
John 4:24 KJV 1900
24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.
John 4:34 KJV 1900
34 Jesus saith unto them, My meat is to do the will of him that sent me, and to finish his work.
He performed his second miracle on a nobleman’s son.
In John chapter five, Jesus is led by the Holy Spirit to Jerusalem to a place called Bethesda ( house of mercy). God’s mercy is new to everyone, and it endures forever… If it were not for God’s mercy, we would all be consumed.
Lamentations 3:22–23 KJV 1900
22 It is of the Lord’s mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. 23 They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.
However, when Jesus went to the HOUSE of MERCY, it looked like the House of Misery.
Impotent folk are without strength and weak without purpose. Some people lose their strength, value, and purpose. Today, you will be restored!
Blind - cannot see. _ Some people loss their sight and vision. Today I pray your eyes will be opened and vision will be restored.
Withered- dried up, and dysfunctional. Some people lose their ability to function and are limited to handouts. This message aims to give you a hand-up and help you be restored.
People were waiting on an external stimulus. Some people are waiting on others to help them, but today, I pray that you will rise up because of an inner stimulus called the POWER of the Holy Ghost, which will empower you to fulfill your Kingdom purpose.
Jesus identified a man who he noticed had been impotent for a long time, 38 years.
Jesus was only 30 years old at this time; he may have seen the man there since he was a child. All males 12 and over had to go to at least three feasts in Jerusalem each year: the Feast of the Passover, Pentecost, or the Feast of the Tabernacle.
Jesus asked the made a question. Wilt thou be made whole?
How badly do you want to be able to function and to have life more abundantly?
Rather than saying YES, I want to be whole. I want to overcome and have good success! The man made an excuse.
Excuse - means to be released from a duty, assignment, or requirement. E
This is why man lost his dominion _ He made an excuse.
Adam’s excuse was Eve
Eve's excuse was the serpent.
Many people will miss God's Kingdom on this earth and after they leave this earth because of excuses.
In Luke 14:15-24
Luke 14:15–24 (KJV 1900)
15 And when one of them that sat at meat with him heard these things, he said unto him, Blessed is he that shall eat bread in the kingdom of God. 16 Then said he unto him, A certain man made a great supper, and bade many: 17 And sent his servant at supper time to say to them that were bidden, Come; for all things are now ready. 18 And they all with one consent began to make excuse. The first said unto him, I have bought a piece of ground, and I must needs go and see it: I pray thee have me excused. 19 And another said, I have bought five yoke of oxen, and I go to prove them: I pray thee have me excused. 20 And another said, I have married a wife, and therefore I cannot come. 21 So that servant came, and shewed his lord these things. Then the master of the house being angry said to his servant, Go out quickly into the streets and lanes of the city, and bring in hither the poor, and the maimed, and the halt, and the blind. 22 And the servant said, Lord, it is done as thou hast commanded, and yet there is room. 23 And the lord said unto the servant, Go out into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled. 24 For I say unto you, That none of those men which were bidden shall taste of my supper.
Let stop making excuse because!
You are Kingdom citizen and you are not limited to your current situation! Eph 2:19
Ephesians 2:19 KJV 1900
19 Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellowcitizens with the saints, and of the household of God;
You were created to Triumph in Christ!
2 Corinthians 2:14 “14 Now thanks be unto God, which always causeth us to triumph in Christ, and maketh manifest the savour of his knowledge by us in every place.”
You were created to have GOOD success and to be an overcomer! Joshua 1:8
Joshua 1:8 KJV 1900
8 This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.
I am glad Apostle Paul did not make an excuse and finished his course
Romans 8:38–39 KJV 1900
38 For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, 39 Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
2 Corinthians 11:25 KJV 1900
25 Thrice was I beaten with rods, once was I stoned, thrice I suffered shipwreck, a night and a day I have been in the deep;
2 Timothy 4:7–8 KJV 1900
7 I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: 8 Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.
I am so glad that Jesus the author and finisher of our faith did not make and excuse to complete his assignment .
Isaiah 53:5–8 KJV 1900
5 But he was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities: The chastisement of our peace was upon him; And with his stripes we are healed. 6 All we like sheep have gone astray; We have turned every one to his own way; And the Lord hath laid on him the iniquity of us all. 7 He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, Yet he opened not his mouth: He is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, And as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, So he openeth not his mouth. 8 He was taken from prison and from judgment: And who shall declare his generation? For he was cut off out of the land of the living: For the transgression of my people was he stricken.
Hebrews 12:1–2 KJV 1900
1 Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, 2 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.
Put away all excuses to be the best YOU that God called you to be.
If you do not know Christ; repent and receive Him
If you have been double minded, not full commited to Christ receive Him now while He may be found.
Luke 9:23–25 KJV 1900
23 And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me. 24 For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: but whosoever will lose his life for my sake, the same shall save it. 25 For what is a man advantaged, if he gain the whole world, and lose himself, or be cast away?
Let’s lift our hand and ask God to empower us to live a life without excuses !!!!
