I. Calvinist Deny That Salvation Can’t Ever Be Lost

“Calvinists, who deny that salvation can ever be lost, reason on the subject in a marvelous way.

A. They Tell Us That No Virgin's Lamp Can’T Go Out

Matthew 25:5–10 “5 While the bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept. 6 And at midnight there was a cry made, Behold, the bridegroom cometh; go ye out to meet him. 7 Then all those virgins arose, and trimmed their lamps. 8 And the foolish said unto the wise, Give us of your oil; for our lamps are gone out. 9 But the wise answered, saying, Not so; lest there be not enough for us and you: but go ye rather to them that sell, and buy for yourselves. 10 And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came; and they that were ready went in with him to the marriage: and the door was shut.”

B. They Tell US That No Promised Harvest Can’t Be Coked Out by Thorns

Mark 4:4 “4 And it came to pass, as he sowed, some fell by the way side, and the fowls of the air came and devoured it up.”
Mark 4:7 “7 And some fell among thorns, and the thorns grew up, and choked it, and it yielded no fruit.”

C. They Tell us No Branch in Christ Can Ever Be Cut Off For Unfruitfulness

John 15:1–3 “1 I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman. 2 Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit. 3 Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you.”

D. They Tell Us No Pardon Can Ever Be Forfeited

Exodus 23:20–21 “20 Behold, I send an Angel before thee, to keep thee in the way, and to bring thee into the place which I have prepared. 21 Beware of him, and obey his voice, provoke him not; for he will not pardon your transgressions: for my name is in him.”

E. They Tell Us That Your Name Can’t Be Blotted Out of God’s Book

Exodus 32:31–33 “31 And Moses returned unto the Lord, and said, Oh, this people have sinned a great sin, and have made them gods of gold. 32 Yet now, if thou wilt forgive their sin—; and if not, blot me, I pray thee, out of thy book which thou hast written. 33 And the Lord said unto Moses, Whosoever hath sinned against me, him will I blot out of my book.”
Revelation 3:5 “5 He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels.”

F. They Insist That No Salt Can Ever Lose Its Savor

Mark 9:49–50 “49 For every one shall be salted with fire, and every sacrifice shall be salted with salt. 50 Salt is good: but if the salt have lost his saltness, wherewith will ye season it? Have salt in yourselves, and have peace one with another.”

G. They Tell Us That Nobody Can ever Receive the Grace of God in Vain

Romans 6:1–2 “1 What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? 2 God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?”

H. They Tell Us That No One Can Bury His Talents

Matthew 25:20–25 “20 And so he that had received five talents came and brought other five talents, saying, Lord, thou deliveredst unto me five talents: behold, I have gained beside them five talents more. 21 His lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord. 22 He also that had received two talents came and said, Lord, thou deliveredst unto me two talents: behold, I have gained two other talents beside them. 23 His lord said unto him, Well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord. 24 Then he which had received the one talent came and said, Lord, I knew thee that thou art an hard man, reaping where thou hast not sown, and gathering where thou hast not strawed: 25 And I was afraid, and went and hid thy talent in the earth: lo, there thou hast that is thine.”
Matthew 25:26–28 “26 His lord answered and said unto him, Thou wicked and slothful servant, thou knewest that I reap where I sowed not, and gather where I have not strawed: 27 Thou oughtest therefore to have put my money to the exchangers, and then at my coming I should have received mine own with usury. 28 Take therefore the talent from him, and give it unto him which hath ten talents.”

I. They Tell Us That You Can’t Neglect Such Great of Salvation

Hebrews 2:1–3 “1 Therefore we ought to give the more earnest heed to the things which we have heard, lest at any time we should let them slip. 2 For if the word spoken by angels was stedfast, and every transgression and disobedience received a just recompence of reward; 3 How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him;

J. They Tell Us That You Can’t Trifle Away a Day of Grace

Galatians 5:4–5“4 Christ is become of no effect unto you, whosoever of you are justified by the law; ye are fallen from grace. 5 For we through the Spirit wait for the hope of righteousness by faith.”

K. They Denial that You Can Look Back After Putting Your Hand to the Gospel Plow

Luke 9:62 “62 And Jesus said unto him, No man, having put his hand to the plough, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.”

L. They Tell Us That Nobody Can Grieve the Spirit Until He is Quenched

Ephesians 4:30 “30 And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.”

M. They Tell Us That There is No More Strive

Philippians 2:3 “3 Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves.

N. They Tell Us That You Can’t Deny the Lord Who Bought Them

2 Timothy 2:12 12 If we suffer, we shall also reign with him: if we deny him, he also will deny us:

O. They Tell Us That We Can’t Bring Swift Destruction on Ourselves

2 Thessalonians 1:8–10 “8 In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ: 9 Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power;

P. They Tell Us That Nobody or Body of Can Ever Get Lukewarm for Jesus to Spew Them Out of His Mouth

Revelation 3:15–16 “15 I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot. 16 So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth.

Q. They use reams of paper to argue that if One Ever Got Lost he was never found

John 17:12 “12 While I was with them in the world, I kept them in thy name: those that thou gavest me I have kept, and none of them is lost, but the son of perdition; that the scripture might be fulfilled.”

R. They Tell Us That If One Falls, They Never Stood

Romans 11:16–22 “16 For if the firstfruit be holy, the lump is also holy: and if the root be holy, so are the branches. 17 And if some of the branches be broken off, and thou, being a wild olive tree, wert graffed in among them, and with them partakest of the root and fatness of the olive tree; 18 Boast not against the branches. But if thou boast, thou bearest not the root, but the root thee. 19 Thou wilt say then, The branches were broken off, that I might be graffed in. 20 Well; because of unbelief they were broken off, and thou standest by faith. Be not highminded, but fear: 21 For if God spared not the natural branches, take heed lest he also spare not thee. 22 Behold therefore the goodness and severity of God: on them which fell, severity; but toward thee, goodness, if thou continue in his goodness: otherwise thou also shalt be cut off.”
Hebrews 6:4–6 “4 For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost, 5 And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come, 6 If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame.”

S. They Tell Us if One Was Ever Cast Forth, He Was Never in; If One Ever Withered He Was Never Green

John 15:1–6 “1 I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman. 2 Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit. 3 Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you. 4 Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me. 5 I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing. 6 If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned.”

T. They Tell Us If Any Man Draws Back; It Proves That He Never Had Anything to Draw Back From

Hebrews 10:38–39 “38 Now the just shall live by faith: but if any man draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him. 39 But we are not of them who draw back unto perdition; but of them that believe to the saving of the soul.”

U. They Tell Us That If One Ever Falls Away Into Spiritual Darkness; He Was Never Enligtened

V. They Tell Us That If You Again Get Entangled in the Pollution of the World; It Shows That You Never Escaped

2 Peter 2:20 “20 For if after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they are again entangled therein, and overcome, the latter end is worse with them than the beginning.”
They Tell Us that if you ‘put salvation away’ you never had it to put away, and if you make shipwreck of faith, there was no ship of faith there!!
In short they say: If you get it, you can’t lose it; and if you lose it you never had it. May God save us from accepting a doctrine, that must be defended by such fallacious reasoning!”
