Bobbie Newsome passed away on June 24, 2024 at age 82.
Barbara Dale “Bobbie” Davis Newsome was born in Nashville TN to Nellie Dale Blackwell and Herbert Davis. She enjoyed reading, watching NASCAR, traveling with her sister Jeanette, and spending time with the grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved her grandkids almost as much as her great-grandkids. Bobbie was a member of the Mt. Juliet Missionary Baptist Church. She worked as a bookkeeper.
Bobbie is survived by her children: Danny (Sissy) Miller and Jason (Glenda) Newsome; grandchildren: Danielle (A.J.) Foell, Jamie Haynes, Leah Newsome, Nomar Garcia, Nicolas Garcia, and Alexander Newsome; great-grandchildren: Samuel, Nevaeh, John, Timothy Foell, Harlee, and Lennox Haynes, John Stephens, and Benny Hamlett; and sister: Jeanette Brewer. She is preceded in death by daughter Candis McKinnie and parents Nell and Herbert Davis.
Job 1:21 “And he said, “Naked I came from my mother’s womb, and naked shall I return. The Lord gave, and the Lord has taken away; blessed be the name of the Lord.””
The Lord gave us Bobbie as sister, mother, grandmother, and friend.
The Lord in His perfect wisdom and timing has taken her away; away from us for a time, but away from her suffering forever.
Let us today and going forward seek to bless the name of The Lord
She loved to read
She loved NASCAR - she looked right at home in her NASCAR jacket and cap
Because she was a real and whole person who smiled and loved and fussed and frustrated family and friends. She was no one-dimensional character or idea, but a real person who truly touched many lives in her 82 years.
That is why her loss is and will be felt so profoundly in days and years to come.
Losing someone is not something you get past; it is a permanent vacancy in this life that gets built around, not filled in.
She was plain spoken
1 Thessalonians 4:13 “But we do not want you to be uninformed, brothers, about those who are asleep, that you may not grieve as others do who have no hope.”
Psalm 116:15 “Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints.”
2 Timothy 4:8 “Henceforth there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, will award to me on that day, and not only to me but also to all who have loved his appearing.”
To say that Bobbie is in a better place is too common a phrase
Our sister, Bobbie, has been ushered into the place called Abraham’s Bosom, the immediate presence of our risen Lord Jesus, a place an reality which knows no suffering, no pain, no tears forever more.
She has been rescued from not only the penalty, but the presence of sin. She is with those who have gone on before her yes, but she is with The Lord Jesus.
1 Corinthians 15:3–4 “For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, 4 that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures,”
John 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.”
You must believe this is true
You must believe it is enough
You must believe it is for you
She was faithful to her family and to the church (and to me)
She loved her grandkids almost as much as her great-grandkids.
She faithfully attended the church
She faithfully
Hebrews 7:25 “Consequently, he is able to save to the uttermost those who draw near to God through him, since he always lives to make intercession for them.”
All that the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never cast out.
...he who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit who dwells in you.
Therefore my heart is glad, and my whole being rejoices; my flesh also dwells secure.
You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore.
(Jn 6:37, Rom 8:37, Ps 16:9,11)
